The Morning After

Sandra's P.O.V

As I'm in the shower, I wait to hear the door closing, but instead, I hear him talking, so I stop the water. Hearing what he says makes me want to jump out of the shower, open the door and fall on him, but I know better than to do that, so I just wait for him to finish talking.

At the end, I can barely keep my tears from running, but I have my hands pushing on my mouth, so I don't start sobbing. A few moments after he stops talking, I hear the door finally closing, making me realize he's gone, so I let my mouth free and start crying, sitting down on the cold tiles of the shower.

The whole day at work I'm hidden in my office, trying not to talk to anyone.

"Sandra, stai bene? (Sandra, are u ok?)" my boss asks me, after leaving some papers on my desk

"Perché mi chiedi? (why are u asking me?)"

"Perché sei molto tranquilla, senza trucco e posso vedere chiaramente che sai stata piangendo! Qualcosa con Mario?" (Because u're very quiet, without make up, and I can clearly see that u've been crying! Something with Mario?)

"No, qualcos'altro, non preoccuparti!" (No, something else, don't worry)

"Fatemi sapere se avete bisogno di qualcosa, ok?" (Let me know if u need anything, ok?)

"Si, grazie!" (Yes, thank u) I tell her and she leaves, not convinced

Logan's P.O.V

In my sleep, I hear my phone ringing, so I reach it with my hand, without opening my eyes

"Who?" I ask

"It's me, u dumbass, are u still sleeping?" my sister asks

"Yes, what time is it?"

"8.30...Someone worked overtime last night!" she says playfully

"What do u want, Carly?"

"Well, considering it's my birthday, I want u to come have breakfast with us!"

"Do I have to?"

"U have to do everything I say today!"

"Right, ok, I'll be down in a minute..." I say and hung up

After I brush my teeth and get dressed, I get downstairs to where breakfast is held

"Happy birthday, grandma!" I tell her, kissing her head

"Ha. Ha. very funny! U're lucky u got me a diamond bracelet!" She says as I sit down

"So? What time did u come back?" he asks as I'm taking a sip from my coffee

"Uhm, 5, I guess, I don't remember..." 

"Woo hoo! Can she walk?"

"I think so..." I answer trying not to give much info

"Ok, what the hell? U were supposed to be radiant and happy as hell!"

"Well, I'm not, can we get over it?"

"Nope! What did u do?"

"Why do u always assume I did something?"

"Well, am I wrong?"

"No..."

"That's why. So, spill it!" she says and after I sigh, I tell her about our dinner, our kiss, our walk to her favorite spot and that we went to her house after, for obvious reasons

"So far, so good!"

"Yeah, the fuckening came after" I say and continue with the rest

"Are u fucking retarded or something?" she asks flicking my forehead

"Ouch! What the hell?" I ask, rubbing it

"Why did u say that to her?"

"Because it's the truth, ok? I'm not ready yet!"

"It's been 10 fucking months, Logan! And it's Sandra we're talking about! The girl u couldn't shut up about!"

"Well, now u are the one who won't shut up about her!"

"I won't until u get your fucking mind in order! Are u seriously gonna let her go? After all these years?"

"She did it first!"

"So? Who's keeping scores?"

"I am! Ok? Who tells me she won't let me go again, huh?"

"It's been 6 years! U're both grown! Besides, she was a kid! And she also was pretty clear with u from the start! Just like she is now!"

"Carly, please! U don't understand!"

"I understand perfectly! U're trying to hold against her that 6 years ago she didn't want to be in a relationship"

"Do u even know how it is to be cheated on? How much it hurts to find out that while u were out picking out engagement rings, your partner was in someone else's bed?"

"No, I don't! I can only imagine how bad it must feel, but she does! She's the only one who can understand u! Don't u understand how lucky u are to have run into her after all these years? When both of u have experienced almost the same thing?"

"Again with that fate crap..." I say rolling my eyes

"Oh, come on! I'm sure that even u can understand that this is life giving u a second chance! Don't waste it because u're afraid!"

"I need time to think. She gave me 4 months, I can use them!"

"Of course u can't! U think that if after 4 months u go and tell her hey, babes, I decided to be with u, she will just magically fall into your arms? No! She will be so hurt that u had to think about it! She will probably have thought about it that much that she won't even want u anymore! U will have wasted so much valuable time thinking about it and u'll end up losing her!" she says, making me start thinking about it differently

Sandra's P.O.V

At around 5, I get out of the museum with some files for an event we're planning in order to get donations. As I walk to my car, I hear my name and when I turn around, I see Logan

"What do u want now? Didn't u say everything u wanted before?"

"Sandra, I'm sorry for everything that I said! It was only because I got caught off guard! I never thought I'd run into u, let alone in Florence, after 6 years! And of course I never thought our perfect night would end up with u telling me u want us to be together!"

"Well, I'm sorry that I don't want to waste an opportunity like that!"

"And u're right not wanting to! I'm just...I'm very scared, ok? I was happy one day and the next I was breaking up, with a ring in my pocket! Don't tell me u don't know the feeling..."

"Oh, but I do...everytime I wake up and wish that it was all a bad dream. But I can't let fear rule me. Yeah, it's only been a month, yeah, I need a pill to sleep, but when it comes to u, I can't play the odds! I lost u once, I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't tell u to be together! But, it's ok, I understand...u need time, maybe more than 4 months"

"No, I don't! I don't need to think about whether I want to be with u or not!" He says and before I manage to say anything he comes at me, grabs me by my face and crushes his lips on mine
