Warnings: fluff, slight confrontation

For the next few days, Ponk silently followed Sam around, observing what he did, how he did it, and how he treated his duties. On day number four, Sam turned to Ponk, his eyes narrowed, "Why are you so silent? It's driving me insane, your silent presence always following me, always around, but always silent. Do you ever talk?" Ponk was taken aback, not knowing what to say or do. He had recoiled in slight fear when Sam spoke to him, even though the taller was not trying to be threatening or rude in any way, "I- I-" Ponk stuttered, being unable to speak. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean for it to come out that way... your silence just got on my nerves... please forgive me." Sam bowed his head before kneeling down, gently taking Ponk's hand in his own, and placing a gentle kiss on it, as if he were a groveling peasant. A light blush dusted Ponk's face as he took in what was happening, such a terrifying and intimidating male was practically groveling at his feet for forgiveness for something he shouldn't even apologize for? Ponk gently pulled his hand away, clearing his throat and casting his gaze away from the increasingly attractive man before him, "I-It's fine... You needn't apologize, Sam, for it is my fault, not yours. I shouldn't have startled so easily, and please, please forgive me for my silence, I'm not in the company of others that often." Sam chuckled softly, still kneeling, "It's quite alright, I just... I'm just not used to it. The silence of oneself." Ponk looked back at Sam and kneeled down himself, taking one of Sam's hands in his own, "Then how about we experience these new things together? You, the silence of oneself, and me, the talking in company of another?" Sam gazed into Ponk's eyes, losing himself in the soft colors that swirled to make up the beauty that was his irises, "I'd quite like that." The two stayed knelt together, gazing at one another rather fondly, even though they'd barely spoken.
Within the next few days, the two of them were bouncing conversations off of one another, shooting questions back and forth, and returning them with quips and smart remarks, enjoying the laughter that followed. "Hey Sam?" Ponk asked, looking over at the taller, "Hm?" "Did it hurt?" Sam raised an eyebrow, pausing, "Did what hurt?" Ponk giggled, "When you fell from the fruit tree? Cuz damn, you're a snack!" It took Sam a moment to register what was just said, but he burst out laughing when he got it, joining Ponk and slapping an arm around his shoulders. "You- you'r- That was a good one!" Sam breathed, laughing still. Ponk smirked, "Of course it was, I'm the master!" "Pfft, sure, dream on, Ponkie."
That night, the two made it to a lemon tree, the only lemon tree within the woods. "Here we are, the only lemon tree within the boundary of my woodland. I thought you might like it, as you come from Citrus Grove and all." Sam said, smiling. Ponk's eyes widened and he pulled off his mask, throwing it in his pocket, "Sam!! You didn't need to bring me here!! It's so pretty!!" The shorter exclaimed, turning to Sam. "Well, I wanted to surprise you, as you've been away from home for days now, and you've been stuck with me." Ponk went over to Sam and stood on his tippy toes, placing a kiss on Sam's cheek, "Thank you so much Sam, it really means a lot." Sam smiled sweetly, a light blush rising to his cheeks, "No problemo, a-any time." Ponk giggled, sitting at the base of the tree, patting the spot beside him. Sam sat down next to him, tensing slightly as he felt Ponk's head rest on his shoulder. The smaller sighed softly, raising a finger to the sky, "You see that constellation, Sam?" Sam looked in the direction Ponk was pointing, spotting the constellation, "Yeah," "That's the lemon blossom constellation, the brightest star is Hellah, named for the creator of citrus fruits and many other wonderful things. It's my favorite constellation..." Sam smiled, resting his head on Ponk's, "It's a very pretty constellation... I never knew those things about it, thank you for telling me..." "You're welcome, Sam. Good night." Ponk said softly before yawning. Sam laughed softly, "Good night." The two always shared random facts about things they know whenever they had the chance, even if it were out of the blue, it had become normal, their normal.
