Robbie had to do something. Soon his abilities would show up again. This is exactly why his alien parents gave him the watch, to give him a shot at living like a normal person. He felt like he failed his father somehow. It was only a matter of time before they all kicked in. His watch wouldn't work anymore, not with that surge of power. For the boy who had outplayed Justin, the school's self entitled jock, Robbie felt pretty helpless. He twisted uncomfortably in his seat. Jessica watched him intently through the corner of her eye. Even though she tried to be discreet, Robbie could feel her eyes boring into his skin. Robbie turned around looking at her. Jeez! For a girl she was annoying. And I thought Herbie and Ferbie were annoying. She stopped staring quickly and continued listening. Robbie had to try to find a way to get rid of his abilities. He didn't even know the full scope of his abilities.
~Flashback~
A younger Robbie is in the field working with his father on an obstacle course. Herbie and Ferbie were standing farther up the course. Ever since he slammed into the kitchen door last week, his dad was training him to control his speed. As he readied himself to run, he surveyed the course. His dad voice brought him back to focus. "On your marks! Get set! GO!" . Robbie shot off across the field. As he hurried through the obstacles, he tried to go faster. However, he was unable to replicate his feat of superspeed. As he finished the course, he jogged over his father, disappointed. On the other hand, the elder man was beaming with joy. "You were amazing!" Robbie however, didn't think so. I can't do it! he exclaimed angrily sitting down on the fence with a huff. "Robbie, its okay if you don't get it on the first go." his dad said. Glancing at the course, he said: "How about we try this one more time." This time, just enjoy yourself." Robbie took a deep breath, hopping off the fence. As he crouched into his position, His father called: On your marks! Get set! GO! This time, Robbie shot off, leaving a large gust of air behind him, breaking down a part of the fence. Robbie looked like a blur going through the obstacles. Herbie and Ferbie cheered, with their father clapping his hands and beaming with pride. Robbie completed the course, running around the island in circles. As he continued to showboat, his foot hit a rock, skating straight off the mountain side onto the beach below. As his brothers and father watched horrified, Robbie hit the ground with a loud thud. Robbie's dad sprinted over to the mountain side(its sorta built like stairs). As his father rushed over to him, Robbie was on the ground brushing his clothes off. "Wow! That hurt a lot less than I thought it would." His father looked at him astonished. Its not every day that your son falls off a mountain and survived. Sure, he was alien, but still. Robbie headed up the stairs with his father, who was deep in thought.
~ End of flashback ~Robbie had to go to work, but he needed a sort of limiter. Robbie raised his hand. "The bald teacher peered over his glasses. "Can I help you mister Malcom?" He asked in his usual annoyed tone. "Can I go to the bathroom?" The teacher looked at his watch, sighing. "Can't you wait for like, five more minutes? Its like, almost next period." Robbie looked at the man. He was just downright lazy. Robbie lowered his head on the desk and sighed. BRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNGGG!!!! Everyone got up leaving the room for the next form period. Robbie headed to the bathroom only to blocked by Justin and his gang. Crap! I can't fight him now. Robbie looked at the boys. "Tell you what Justin we can fight after school"- Justin chucked him back on the wall laughing. "Nah man I dont think so. I'm gonna fight you NOW!" Just then Whitney, the schools bully, and his gang, saw Justin and his crew. "Hey crap-head"! Grabbing Justin by the shirt, Whitney slammed him into the locker. "You owe me five bucks." Robbie quietly made his way around the group, sprinting leaving a scared Justin and his fleeing crew. Robbie finally reached the bathroom looking around quickly. Seeing no one, he jumped out the window and sped to an abandoned alley. He never tried this before and if he failed, he had to run all the way to his old house, which was on a small island. His father had bought the deeds to the island and built the house. As the boys grew, they helped their father add on to the island. Robbie took a deep breath. He kneeled on the ground and sprang into the air. Just as he passed the building top, Robbie felt himself fall to the ground. Well it appears that I can't fly. Robbie shot off in a blur of red and blue, running towards the island. As he reached the water, he skidded to a stop. He never thought about how he was going to cross it. He had read comic books with people running on water, but he had never tried it. Robbie walked a bit back, looking around if anyone was there to see him. He had run all the way to Orion Lake through an abandoned route. The last thing he needed was to be on the news as some sort of flash. He was nobody's hero. Robbie shot of across the water running on it, as if it were solid ground. Looking around he saw ships and boats moving as if they were in slow motion. As much as he hated it, he had to admit that it felt pretty awesome. All his life he had been trying to get rid of his abilities. Now, he wasn't so sure what he wanted. As he pulled up on the beach, he used his x-ray vision to scan for any persons on the beach. After seeing none he sped around to the back of the island. Robbie pushed his hand into a crevice of the rock and pulled the heavy rock out. Setting the rock down, he put his hand in the crevice, lifting the second rock out of the opening. Robbie went inside the large cave. Inside was a single chair and an object covered in a tarpaulin. He had to pull it off, but he didn't want to. He held on to his nose as the feeling nostalgia overwhelmed him. He put his hand over the tarpaulin and paused for a moment. He heard a boat on the other side of the island. Hurrying out of the cave he quickly put the stones back at the entrance. Robbie felt like his heart was inside his throat, threatening to jump out at any moment. Using his x-ray vision he saw at least three people. Two adults and a small child. The lady called: "Shawn! We're back!" Robbie x-rayed the house seeing a boy with a slight bend on the bone and peices of metal in his hand. Robbie looked horrified. If his parents caught him, they might not even recognize him, however, if Shawn caught him, he would be in deep trouble.
So there it is guys, chapter 13 is out. For those who didn't understand, Shawn and his family now live on the island. And yes he is carrying a grudge. As for how Robbie lived there, his family was once rich. You'll see why they just suddenly become so poor. You can submit your theories here. Peace ✌!
