The boy held the bow pointing the arrow at Fortitude. It's blue tip sparkled with energy as he pointed it closer and closer. Fortitude raised an eyebrow. "An arrow that lights up?" The boy smirked. "Oh this? This may not kill you, but it's guaranteed to knock you straight out of your body for a while." Fortitude smirked. "I've never seen anyone so confident. Look you really don't need to do thi-" The boy interrupted: "Blah Blah Blah! I don't care." The boy released the arrow into the room floor, causing Fortitude to blink, confused. "What good is that?"he asked. "You missed." Jason smirked. "Did I though?" Suddenly, he pressed a button, causing a portal to appear behind him. Fortitude jumped forward to stop him, but the boy clicked another button causing a loud noise that only superhumans can hear, causing Fortitude to fall to the ground screeching in pain. Walking through the portal, the boy pressed a button, closing the portal. As Fortitude looked around form the ground he saw the arrow beeping rapidly. As he was about to get up, he got blown out of the window by a huge explosion, taking down the building, sending him and a number of rocks and other rubble careening through the air. "Fortitude!" Superion called flying off to catch him. Starlad blasted a few of the falling rubble, then flew into the burning pile of rubble looking for the criminals, only found a half-burnt skeleton. He covered his mouth, wanting to vomit. Starlad floated out the burning apartment, seeing Superion carrying a limp Fortitude back to the ground. He took off his jacket, giving him CPR. "Come on, come on!" He said, attempting to rouse the boy. Everyone was quiet, even Starlad. The news team filmed the whole scene, streaming it to every news station in Emmersville.
At School
The students all looked at their phones, watching the sad sight. Jasper stood with his phone in hand, looking at his screen in disbelief. Just a couple days ago, they had teamed up to take down that man and save the building. Now he was just...dead. Herbie and Ferbie were on the field doing Physical Ed when Herbie saw his brother look at phone and started crying. Hurrying over, he quickly realized the problem. Comforting his brother, they both sat there silently.
At Angela's Workplace (Robbie's Mom)
Angela was sweeping the dust out of her salon as usual with the broom in her hand. Taking a break, she sat down in a chair turning on the television. Skipping past football, she arrived at the news station where the title immediately caught her eye. The news team showed Superion holding the limp body of Fortitude. The news slowly sunk in. Her son was dead. Just last night he told her about his suit, seeing Superion's base, and all of his other little adventures. Now he was gone. She sunk down onto the ground wailing in grief. She couldn't think straight. Her oldest son wouldn't be there anymore, not to take care of his brothers, not to smile again, nothing. She clutched her necklace, containing a photo of her husband, crying. "I'm sorry Herman. I tried my best".
Back At The Scene
Superion cried while desperately trying to bring Fortitude back. Little did they know that he was not dead, but instead above them, detached from his own body. "Please be alive. I- I'll do anything!" Superion pleaded. Suddenly Fortitude gasped for air. "Even teaching me how to fly?" He asked, coughing. The crowd which had gathered, started cheering, glad that their hero was back. In the school, Herbie and Ferbie jumped for joy, elated that their brother was back. Angela wiped her tears, laughing and thanking God for saving her boy. Superion gave the boy a bone crushing hug, laughing joyously. Fortitude got up, hugging the joyous man. Starlad tried to hide his excitement by stretching his hand out. Fortitude grabbed him by the hand, giving him a hug as well. Superion helped Fortitude up, smiling. "Let's celebrate! We could get cake and food and lots of drinks!"he whispered. "I'd love to do it now, but I have school." Fortitude whispered back smirking. The heroes made their way to the crowd of reporters and other people. The reporters swarmed him with questions. "How did dying feel? Were you scared? What's your real name? Fortitude smiled. "Ah...I'm not exactly sure how to describe dying to you. And yes, I was scared, I'm glad Superion and Starlad where here."he said, turning to leave. "Hey! You still didn't tell us your name."the reporter persisted. "I can't share my name with the public."he said. The group of heroes turned away, leaving.
Fortitude arrived at his mother's workplace, in his regular clothes. His mother took on look at Robbie and gripped him firmly. Robbie smiled. This hero gig wasn't half bad.
In a hospital, far away
Damien stirred in a hospital bed. His mother was there in a chair, with bruises on her face, sleeping. Damien got off the bed, feeling his body again. Shaking his mother, Damien called: "Mom! Curtis's beating you again?! I'm gonna kill him when I get my hands on him! His mother held his hands. "Damien. Just...Just focus on getting better." Damien flexed his hands. "I feel alright. You deserve better than this. I'll make sure he can't hurt you again. (Quick clarification. Curtis is his stepdad. He lives with them. His real dad, Ryan, is somewhere out there also being a drunkard.) His pleaded with him trying to stop him. Damien pushed past her, walking out the door, teleporting away. Stopping at his stepdad's usual bar, Damien pushed the door, entering. The bar was full with people. Walking through the crowd, he spotted Curtis at a table drinking a beer with his friends, flirting with the barmaid. Damien walked over to his stepfather, throwing him off the seat with his bare hands. Curtis got up in his drunken stupor ready to fight. Damien backhanded the man, and kicked him while he was down. His friends got up, all trying to fight Damien. Damien unleashed his full anger on them, beating each one either dead or unconscious. He left his bleeding stepfather for last. Fright seized the crowd, causing them to leave hurriedly. Picking him up with his shadow hands he grimaced. "Why did you hurt her!" The now fully sober man stuttered, trying to form a response. Damien held him, and teleported them both to the factory. Grabbing a chain, he teleported away to a forrest he once saw. Tying him up on a tree, he hit him repeatedly with a pole. Spitting on him, he hit him again and again with the pole, killing him. Damien cracked his knuckles and wiped his bloody hands on his clothes and teleported away.
