As Fortitude waited for his order, he could feel the whole restaurant staring at him. All of a sudden, Fortitude felt very self-conscious and scrutinized. He cleared his throat, akwardly rubbing the back of his head. He wasn't used to having so many people just staring at him, silently judging him. Thankfully, the manager came back soon enough giving him his meal. "Enjoy your meal!" the lady said, handing him the bag with a cheerful smile. Taking the bag, the vigilante uttered a quick 'thank you', walking away to get Shift and leave. When Fortitude came to the desk, he saw Shift signing autographs and entertaining the children with telekinetic tricks. Fortitude approached the table, causing several of the children to back away in fear. Fortitude shot Shift a confused glance raising his eyebrows. Shift chuckled. Leaning forward she whispered: "Loosen up a bit. You're intimidating them." Fortitude frowned, his eyebrows furrowing. He knew that he wore a more serious expressions at times, but the thought of him being intimidating was new to him. He tried to crack a smile, resulting in a child to begin crying loudly, directing more stares towards him. Fortitude stiffened in his chair, his face flushed with embarassment. Luckily for him, Shift came into the clutch, floating over some of the juice in her cup, shaping it in the form of a dolphin, making it swim through the air doing various flips along the way. The people cheered, clapping at Jessica's performance. Fortitude quickly took advantage of the people's distraction, and hurried outside.
Shift watched as Fortitude pushed the glass door, excusing himself from the tense atmosphere. She pursed her lips, thinking of how to fix the situation. Waving her hands, she made the dolphin swim back into the cup, causing the the drink to make a splash. The crowd cheered, some even videoing this feat. Shift gave them all a warm smile, before going outside to find Robbie. Looking around, she saw no sign of the Nixi cladded vigilante. Floating up into the air, Jessica looked on top of a small building, she noticed Robbie throwing the rock up far into the air before catching it again. It was clear to see that Robbie was bothered by what had just happened. From his slanted posture, his foot hanging off the building side and the slight scowl on his lips, Jessica could see that he was most definitely not pleased about this. "Hey. You okay?" Robbie caught the rock, crushing it to dust in his hand. Jessica floated down beside him, head tilted, looking a him with a mixture of apology and pity. Robbie's face softened, his grip releasing what was left of the rock. "Yeah. I'll be alright. I just don't understand. How exactly am I scary? I literally stop rouges (Rouges are evil abberants), like almost every day. I'm a good guy." Jessica sighed. "That's not all there is to being a hero. Fighting rouges are only half the job. The other half is actually being(underlined) a hero. Not a vigilante. Stick around when you defeat a rouge. Talk to the reporters. Smile for the camera. Acknowledge the people. Show them that you aren't just some strange protector with abilities. Show them that you are one of them." By now, Robbie was astounded at how she described heroism. Robbie raised an eyebrow. "It's easy for you say. You are good at this whole people thing." Jessica smirked. "Well, my parents homeschooled me on how to interact with civilians, and how to deal with crowds." Robbie raised an eyebrow. "So your parents are superheroes as well?" Jessica shook her head. "Actually they are intergalactic diplomats. They made a rule, in which they wouldn't interfere in any human crisis, once it doesn't affect them personally. For the last ten or so years I have been begging them to let me become a superhero, until finally, they gave in." Robbie nodded. "I didn't have my birth parents to teach me about my powers and stuff.
Everything that I learned, how to control my powers and stuff, my adoptive parents and I discovered on our own." Jessica hovered in the air infront of Robbie, her eyebrow creased sadly. "That's gotta be one of the saddest things I've ever heard." Robbie shook his head. " I've learned to get over it. As a kid I always used to wonder what happened to them." Jessica thought for a moment, her hands on her chin. "You came to earth in a spaceship, right? Did you check it for a hologram message?" Robbie nodded his head. "I scoured every inch of the ship looking for one. All I found was a dark, glass looking cube. That's it." Jessica wrinkled her face. "I really am sorry about all that you have went through. I have no idea how hard it must've been." Robbie looked up at Jessica. "Don't be. I am not sorry. Because of it, I was able to know my adoptive mother and father, and even Herbie and Ferbie. Because of it, I was able to learn about things from a humanity's point of veiw. Because of it I was able to spend the best years of my life with- " Robbie suddenly stopped as his voice cracked. Tears were streaming down his face, his eyes closed. Jessica floated over to Robbie, giving him a hug. Suddenly the sound of an arrow went off, alerting Robbie and Jessica, who both instantly let go of each other, turning their attention to a very familiar dark haired teen, armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows. Robbie's eyes widened as he recognized the boy to be no other than Jason, the archer that had knocked him out of his body with that explosive. This was not going to end well.
