Robbie looked inside the gym, seeing students playing basketball. He smirked. Finally they were starting Basketball. Looks like the last few weeks were the last of rugby. Basketball was his third favorite sport, right behind rugby, netball and baseball of course. Robbie waved to Jessica, as she left to do her drama class. Hurrying to the locker room, Robbie quickly started changing into his gym gear. After he was done, he made sure to take his bag with him, hiding it beneath the bleachers. Stepping out onto the court, Robbie looked at both the teams. Realizing how unfairly unbalanced the teams were. All the star players were on one side, Group One, while all the other players were on the other group, Group Two Robbie went over to the coach, asking to join Group Two. The coach nodded his head, watching Johnny do bench presses. Robbie joined Group Two looking at the scores. Group Two had managed to block a few shots, but even that hadn't slowed Group One's progress. Robbie picked up the basketball spinning it on his finger. He needed to make a plan. "Alright. Group One's a really good team, but I believe that we all can beat them with-" "With teamwork. Of course. What do you think we were doing before you showed up?" A boy interrupted. Robbie shook his head. "You were playing together, not as a team. For example Ned. What was the last shot you tried to make?" Ned scratched his head. "Well I was trying to do a dunk..." "Exactly. If you were doing teamwork, you would've given it to Geoffrey, who is much taller. But y'all have been trying too hard to personally make the shots. Pass the ball and trust your teammates."Robbie said. Putting his hand out, he looked up at the group. The rest of the group smiled putting their hands forward as well. "Group Two!" Robbie cheered. Group Two!" Everyone responded. Group One laughed, watching them. "Hey Justin, look at those bozos, thinking the actually have a chance." Justin narrowed his eyebrows. "Hey! Don't underestimate them! That boy Malcom is actually a better player than he looks! Don't let your guard down for a second. Don't give him an inch of space to play. Use every dirty trick if you have to, just be smart. The main priority,is Robbie. Looking over at Group Two, he locked eyes with a grimacing Robbie. Robbie was not going to lose, so neither would he.
The ball was tossed into and both Justin and Robbie sprang into the air, trying to catch the ball. Justin's finger brushed against the ball allowing him to catch it, passing it to his teammates. Robbie tried to go past Justin but his block was good. Robbie tried to make a fake, but Justin was on his tail. Robbie smirked. So Justin was gonna make him work for this victory. Fine by him. As his dad used to say 'The harder the work, the sweeter the victory'. Robbie faked a jump, causing Justin to jump, trying to stop him. Robbie smirked, using the oppertunity to pass the ball to Ned, who immediately passed to Geoffrey. Geoffrey easily caught the ball, eluding all the players and throwing it in with ease. Giving him a thumbs up, Robbie smiled. Geoffrey was easily taller than him (Robbie is 5'11), and the ease with which he threw the ball in, he could definitely see him becoming a basketballer in the future.
Justin grimaced, looking at Robbie with pure fury in his eyes. Dribbling the ball, he tried to break past Samuel, a boy on Group Two, who was blocking him well. Justin tried to jump to the side only to be met by Ned. Tilting his wrist, he tried to shoot a three pointer, only to be shot down by Geoffrey. Robbie was quick on the catch, grabbing the ball mid-fall and driving it up-court. Eugene, a red-headed boy from Group One, immediately came out, trying to block Robbie. Robbie jumped back, surprising Eugene. Robbie smirked, launching the ball into the air. Eugene's eyes widened, watching the ball near the hoop. The ball went right through the hoop, causing the hoop to swish as it hit the ground. Justin grumbled under his breath. He had to beat Robbie. His friends were leaving him one by one. He couldn't risk losing anymore. So far the game hadn't gone to rubble as yet, because they were already halfway through the game when Robbie came. The score was 19 - 7, with the tables quickly turning. It took everything he had to keep up with Robbie, and now Geoffrey was showing his true colours. He had to find a way to shut them both down. Andrew was really tall, so if anyone could handle Geoffrey, it would be him. "Andrew! Change marks with Zeke." Zeke pumped his fists. "Thank God." Geoffrey looked at Andrew who confidently strutted across the room. Justin took one last look around the court, before staring face to face with his mark, Robbie. "I don't intend to lose, Malcolm."he said, sweating. Robbie locked eyes with him, replying: "And neither do I, Justin." The whistle sounded again, restarting the game. Justin had the ball, immediately trying to get past Robbie. Robbie was on him like a god-damned tick. Faking a jump, he smirked as he watched Robbie fall for his own trick. Driving past Robbie, Justin dribbled the ball up the court, desperation driving his moves. Leaping into the air, Justin dunked the ball into the hoop, finally breathing regularly. People had had come into the gym, watching the groups battle. He couldn't lose, not now. Trotting back to his mark, Justin looked at a smirking Robbie. "Well well well. You dare use my own trick against me, Justin?" Justin raised an eyebrow. "Are you quoting that Harry Potter meme?" He asked. Robbie smiled. "Maybe." Justin scoffed. "I'm still gonna beat you Malcolm. No matter who you quote." Robbie's face turned serious. "I hope you are right. For your sake. But I won't lose, and that is a fact." The whistle sounded, and Robbie again had the ball. He decided to change his approach to beating Justin. Driving the ball through Justin's open feet, Robbie ran right past him, catching the ball and dodging all the blocks on the court. Robbie stopped midway his drive and shot the ball into the air, scoring a three.
