"Oh, come on miss (y/n)! Is that all you can do? How'd you even make it this far?" Sharrkan mocks you.

He blocks every attempt, shoving you back. This time, you didn't lose your footing. Sharrkan moves to the offensive, and you block every hit. Even if you can't hit him at least he can't hit you.

Sharrkan smirks, pushing you back more and you try to move around him. You don't want to get cornered and that's what he's trying to do. Instead, you look for an opening in his lashes, but once you compare the two of your skills, you don't really believe you could.

"(Y/n)~" Sharrkan teases. "Come on, just give up already! I want to drink."

And there it was.

As he said that his shoulder dropped and you swung your sword straight to his throat. Sharrkan stops in his tracks and meets your eyes in utter shock. His face then breaks out in a grin and he laughs.

"There you go, (Y/n)! About time!" he commends, dropping his arm across your shoulder. "We should celebrate!"

"But I still have to train with Iao-" you try to tell him.

"Ah, skip it! Don't you wanna go have some fun without Sinbad? I mean, you guys leave tomorrow for Kou and you'll be stuck with him forever!" Sharrkan groans, walking you towards the stairs to go down into the palace.

It's been over two weeks now since the king made his damned announcement. You were only allowed to take Ama, but like Yam promised, she got herself to go with. It will be you, Ama, Yamureiha, Ja'far, Masrur, and Sinbad going to Kou first thing tomorrow morning.

"Yeah... I guess you're right. We should probably tell Ja'far though." you answer.

Sharrkan exhales loudly at your proposition, slouching and dragging his feet. You sweat drop at his childish behavior but trudge on towards Ja'far's office anyway. Even though he complains, Sharrkan tags along.

"Hey, Ja'far," you call out as you knock on the door.

There was no answer, so you knock again, yelling, "Ja'far!"

"Maybe he's not in." Sharrkan offers.

You pout, knocking again. Nothing. So, you just open the office door, and there he is, asleep at his desk. You pout at this, readying a lecture on how he needs to take better care of himself as you approach his desk. You pat his head, running a hand through his pretty, silver hair.

"Ja'far." you call sweetly. He stirs, grumbling. "Hey, sleepy, I need you to do something for me."

Ja'far whines, looking up at you with his lovely green eyes. He just stares at you, and puffs his cheeks. You smile down at him, still playing with his hair.

"Guess what? I actually hit Sharrkan today!" you chime, giving Ja'far a big smile.

"Oh!" Ja'far jumps up at this, looking to Sharrkan who nods. Ja'far squeezes you in a hug. "Oh my! That's great, (Y/n), I'm so proud of you! You've improved so much in so little time! Wait til Sinad hears about this!"

"Well..." you begin. "Sharrkan and I wanted to go celebrate... Do you think you could cancel on Sinbad for me? Please?"

"(Y/n)... Even if you succeeded with Sharrkan today, you're only just now getting ahold of your Djinn. I don't think it's wise to skip today-" he rationalizes.

"But Ja'far!" you whine, kneeling into a pleading position. "Please! Sharrkan isn't coming with us to Kou! And I'll be spending months with Sinbad! We'll have plenty of time to practice, so just for today, would you let me skip?"

Ja'far looks at you dubiously then glares to Sharrkan. The white haired man tenses up, waving a hand in front of his face to claim he did nothing to encourage this. Which was a lie, but Ja'far would scold anyone who promoted slacking off.

"Ja'far, come on, she's worked hard. She wants a break from Sinbad. You know she hates him. Allow her this one joy." Sharrkan offers on your behalf which only earns him a harsher glare.

"Sharrkan... I'll allow it this once, but, you have to take care of (y/n). You're in charge of her, and I'm sure you know well enough that the king will not go easy on you if anything were to happen to her." Ja'far lectures.

"Yeah, yeah, we'll be fine!" you wave him off, jumping to your feet and bounding towards Sharrkan. "Let's go master Sharrkan! Thanks Ja'far! See you soon!"

With that you and Sharrkan dart out of the office. The two of you run through the halls, down flights of stairs, until you reach the castle gates. By that point, the two of you were breathless and excited to just get to the nearest tavern and start drinking. The gates slowly swung open, but you two wasted no time to continue your run.

---A few liters later---

"And so," you said, taking a chug of your beer. "Sana and Ama are yelling at each other in another case of sibling rivalry and Ulric and I just want to move on to the next part of the dungeon."

You were telling Sharrkan of your dungeon capture from four years ago. Your first and only dungeon. He was laughing right now as you explained how Ama and Sana fought the entire time, even when they were fighting monsters, they found a way to fight with each other.

"They don't fight much, now, it seems." comments Sharrkan, finishing another liter before you.

"No, they don't. They still pick on each other every once in awhile, but nothing like when we were younger. They were like that until they were 17, probably? Something like that. Anyway, it was a surprise we made it out as well as we did! I mean, Ulric and I did most of it, but those two were probably the hardest part of that whole dungeon!"

Sharrkan snickers more and you just finish your liter, motioning for another. The two of you are topped off at the same time, you clank your mugs together, and then take a hardy drink of the new liters. It was nice to be out relaxing and BSing with someone new.

"So, how did you join the 8 generals, huh?" you inquire.

"Hm, well-" Sharrkan started.

"(Y/n)!" barked a loud voice.

You and Sharrkan jump looking at the door to the bar. Everyone else looks too before calling out to their king and welcoming him with praise. He makes his way over to you guys and you deflate with a groan.

"Why didn't you tell me you were skipping today?" Sinbad growled.

"Pfffffft." you grumble. "I told Ja'far-"

"Ja'far isn't the one taking time out of his day to train you-" sneered the king, getting in your face.

For once you didn't blush from him, just the alcohol, and you get in his face too. "Listen here, King Sinbad! Me and Sharrkan- are having a wonderful time relaxing before I'm damned to suffer alongside you for the next few months of my young life! So how dare you get mad at me for wanting some freedom-!"

"(Y/n), you need to-" Sharrkan interrupted.

"Shush Sharrkan! You said I need this and goddammit!" you shout, finishing your liter and smashing down on the counter. "I really needed it! One more please!"

Sinbad was fuming, but you, and many others, were too drunk to notice. He looked at Sharrkan who held up his hands in surrender while you began to drink from your new liter. The king waited a few seconds before he put his hands on either side of you, trapping you between his arms.

"(Y/n)-" says Sinbad lowly.

"Nooooooo! Why are you so mean to me, Sinbad! I need this!" you argue, getting in his face once more.

He narrows his eyes at you, his fingers tapping the counter, "(Y/n)-"

"No." you tell him, putting a finger to his lips as you finished your liter.

Sharrkan was watching you in horror. No one has so blatantly refused Sinbad, even if they didn't like him. It was clear you were far gone, and Sinbad wasn't gonna deal with it.

"Sharrkan, follow me back please." the king orders.

The white haired man nods his head fervently and before you could order another drink, Sinbad picks you up and tosses you over his shoulder. You instantly cry mutiny, hitting the king incessantly on the back, pulling his hair, and kicking your legs. He paid little mind to this, trudging to the bar's exit while Sharrkan's watched you weakly.

At least you would be a stubborn drunk king...
