Sinbad holds your hand and takes you up the flight of stairs. You don't know where he's taking you, but it thankfully isn't near his quarters. He stops in front of Ja'far's door and you look at him puzzled.

"You wanted to tell Ja'far about... this... Right?" Sinbad says, moving to knock on the door before you grab his wrist.

"I should do it alone... Ja'far doesn't approve at all... It would be worse if you were here too." you explain, taking your hands out of his.

"Yeah, but I want him to-"

"Sinbad! There you are! We need you up deck!" someone from the crew calls, running up to him.

"I'm sure Ja'far will seek you out later." you snicker, knocking on the door.

"Come in!" Ja'far calls.

"See you later, Sinbad." you smile, opening the heavy door.

"Oh, (Y/n)." Ja'far sighs. "I thought I heard Sinbad."

"He was out there. Someone from the crew just came to get him." you answer, closing the door and sitting before Ja'far.

"Tsk. Of course he's still following you around." Ja'far grumbles, continuing to scribble on some paper.

"Ha, yeah, we need to talk about that." you start, giving a dry laugh. "So, that night you and Masrur and Yam got together to tell Sinbad off, was about a day too late. He kissed me earlier that day and tried to tell me that he loved me- I yelled at him to shut up- and that was before the kiss, though. So when he hasn't spoken to me for a whole week, well, I assumed he was bored with me having won, but that wasn't the case. He actually listened to you guys. I saw Yam today, and I didn't intend to tell her about this all, but Sinbad was in the room and he said nothing to me as he left Yam's rooms. He hadn't smiled or talked to me outside of practices since then. When I told Yam, she told me about your intervention.

"Then, I was on my way to come tell you, but Sinbad was waiting around the corner and had listened to the whole conversation... We then accused each other of various things... and..."

The whole time you talked, you did so fast, not wanting to lose motivation, and you had been watching the floor. When you looked up to see Ja'far's face, you didn't know what to think. Never had you ever seen him stop in the middle of writing a line, even for Sinbad. His eyes were blank as he stared at you before he sat up, wavering, ran a hand over his face then slammed his head on the desk.

"Ja'far!" you exclaim, standing and hovering over the advisor.

"So now he loves you, does he?" he groans.

"Yes, that's what he tells me. But I don't love him- not yet anyway." you mumble in retort, sitting up quickly.

"Not yet? So you think you will? What about him always making you blush and your heart skip beats and-and-"

"That's not love. That's attraction."

"... Fair, but what if he's still playing!"

"What were Sinbad's parents like? When I told him that him saying he loved me was bull, he said he'd never said I love you to anyone but his parents when he's sober."

"... Sinbad's parents died when he was young. His mother when he was 14, right after he returned from his first dungeon. His dad was a renowned soldier for his country, but refused to fight or believe in the wars of Parthevia after they were only for greed. He was forced to reenlist, and died. Sinbad was very young... Did he say he loved you today, as well?"

"Yes."

Ja'far looked up at you a little sad and tired. He sighs, looking over his papers, thinking of unrelated things. His head then lays on the table.

"(Y/n), I can't protect you if you don't let me. With all this being said, are you telling me now that you will be ok with being alone with the king? That you don't want us to keep him away?" he asks.

"I... guess I am, Ja'far... I'm sorry." you answer.

"Don't apologize for how you feel. I will be talking to the king later tonight about this. You promise to listen to what I have to say afterwards?"

"Yes, Ja'far. Like I said, I'm not in love yet. I'm merely attracted."

"Does Ama know?"

"... No... He doesn't."

"... Are you going to tell him."

You think about it. So far Ama has worked just as hard if not harder than Ja'far to keep Sinbad away or at least chaperoned when he was with you. There was also the fact that your and Ama's relationship was stronger and more family-like than with Ja'far. Ama would be probably talk you out of it then never leave your side.

"For now, let's say no."

In that moment, the king then isolates her right hand man's wisdom in order to follow the other king.
