Chanhee's face illuminated in light, as he checked the time on his phone. He'd arrived at Younghoon's apartment a few hours ago, being treated to a home cooked meal and some cuddles. The demon had to leave briefly, since he had a client downstairs, and had been gone for a while now. 20:38, Chanhee had started to get impatient. He didn't come to the apartment, just to sit on his own, watching dramas all night.
Snuggling up on the sofa, Chanhee reflected on the days events. He was glad he could sort out his problems with Kevin, he was the person he relied on most, he couldn't be without him. Though, his problems with Sangyeon had only grown, Changmin's big mouth had just made everything worse.
Still staring at his phone, he debated listening to the voice mail Sangyeon left him. He really wasn't in the mood to have the boy screaming at him down the phone. Reluctantly, Chanhee clicked on the message, holding the phone up to his ear.
I'm tried of being mad Chanhee, I'm so drained, I can barely keep myself together. I've been thinking, a lot, about us, and whether this marriage is a good thing or not. But the more I think about breaking up, the more it hurts me. I love you so much, and I don't want to let you go. I know you hate it when I act like this, I'm sorry that I've been angry lately. It's only because I care about you, I don't want you around bad people. Though, I realize now, that I've been selfish. I can't dictate who you talk to, If you want Kevin as your best man, that's your choice to make. I hope we can get through this, please call me back.
The tears were pouring, by the time Sangyeon spoke his last words. Chanhee couldn't stop himself, this Sangyeon wasn't the same as the one he's been dealing with these past few weeks. It was the gentle, caring boy, who Chanhee loved. Sure, they've never been perfect together, but they worked through their problems. It really made Chanhee think, was he making the right decisions? Realistically, he shouldn't be cheating on his boyfriend, no matter what they've been going through.
Chanhee broke his train of thought, hearing the door squeak open. He quickly wiped his tears with his jumper, muttering a 'hi' to Younghoon. The demon noticed straight away that he'd been crying, his cheeks were still stained with tears. The tall boy, ambled over, sitting himself next to Chanhee. He let the angel rest his head on his chest, brushing his hand through his blonde locks.
"Don't ask." Chanhee whimpered, finding solace in Younghoon's familiar scent. He almost forgot about the voice mail completely, just showing the affect the demon had on him.
"Wasn't going to." Younghoon replied, placing a gentle kiss on the top of the angels head. "Sorry I took so long, I really got caught up in the shading."
Chanhee hummed in response, it was a regular occurrence now. Sometimes tattoos took way longer than expected, it was out of their hands.
"How was the fitting?" Younghoon asked. Ever since the demon found out Chanhee's real identity, the boy had been nothing but honest. Younghoon knew all about the wedding preparations, and how miserable Chanhee was with Sangyeon. He couldn't deny he felt content, that Chanhee's relationship was struggling.
"It was alright, I guess. Kevin was mad at me, Changmin was mad at me, Sangyeon was mad at me, it was a mess. But I've sorted some of it out." He said, quite nonchalant, since he had gotten use to people being mad at him.
"Sounds like fun." Younghoon chuckled. He enjoyed being around the angel, even if he only spoke about his drama filled life. He liked the company, he liked the way he felt around Chanhee. "It's good you fixed things, I don't like it when you're upset."
Chanhee felt the demon's hand interlock with his, he thought nothing of it, till the scorching heat reminded him of why they can't do that. "Stop, we agreed no touching." Chanhee stated, swatting away the boys hand.
The demon didn't look amused in the slightest, letting out an exaggerated groan. "I just want to hold your hand, can't we at least do that?"
"No, we can't, I don't want to be marked."
Chanhee could hide the marks, Younghoon had tried to tell him that when they first made the agreement. Though, the angel insisted on avoiding any contact. He knew that the feeling of Younghoon's touch was addicting, he had to keep it to a minimum.
"Fine." Younghoon shrugged, getting up from the sofa. "I'm gonna get some sleep." He muttered, walking towards his room.
The angel knew something was up with Younghoon, he never slept this early. He started to wonder if he was getting sick of him, it was a scary thought. He knew he couldn't stay with the demon forever, but he didn't want to separate so soon.

As the days passed, Chanhee's worry only increased. Younghoon had told him to stop coming over for a while, and that he needed some space. The angel waited day, after day, for a call from the demon, hoping he'd be allowed to come back. Yet, three days passed, and he still heard nothing. All he could think about was Younghoon, and how much he needed him.
Chanhee questioned whether that was it, the end of their time together. How would he be able to move on, when he always found his way back. This time was different though, it wasn't him telling himself to stay away, it was the demon. He just needed answers, why was he pushing him away? He longed to be by his side again, he needed to feel his touch.
"Master Choi?"
The angel snapped back to reality, he hadn't realized he'd been staring into thin air. His driver stood with the door open, waiting for Chanhee to get out. He quickly grabbed his bag, clambering out of the car.
Chanhee gasped at how beautiful the venue looked, it was surely worth the 2 hour drive. The white stone castle with blue detailing, perfectly fit their colour scheme. And the scenery was incredible, there were trees of every colour, there were stretching fields of daisies, there was a glimmering crystal lake. This might of been the prettiest place Chanhee had ever gone to.
He wandered through the wondrous landscape, making his way to the front of the castle. There was a small crew of maybe, 20 creatures, all setting up their respective equipment. Chanhee was rushed inside the castle, by one of the makeup fairies, made to strip off his regular clothes, and put on his suit. It was a white slim fit suit, with a pattern of blue flowers, it was one of the only things Chanhee actually got to pick for himself.
Once dressed, he was dragged to the main lounge, where hair and makeup had set up. That's when he saw Sangyeon, looking rather handsome in his blue suit. They'd spoken briefly after the voice mail, but had spoken even more after Younghoon pushed Chanhee away. They were slowly working on fixing their relationship, since their wedding day was only getting closer.
"How was the journey here?" Sangyeon asked, leaning closer to Chanhee. "You look amazing by the way." He whispered, but still loud enough for the fairies to coo at the compliment.
A thin veil of blush spread across the angels cheeks. He liked that Sangyeon was being kind again, he missed his loving nature. "Thank you, you look very handsome today as well." He replied. "It wasn't that bad of a drive, the scenery is quite pretty around here."
"I agree, our mothers really know how to find the perfect locations." He chuckled. "Did you bring your overnight things?"
"I did, I think one of the fairies took it somewhere, but I'm not sure where."
"Probably upstairs, don't worry too much about it."
Upstairs, the simple mention made him shiver. Sangyeon had planned some sort of surprise stay at the castle tonight, which Chanhee was sort of freaking out about. He'd slept beside his boyfriend many times, but something about this felt different. If Sangyeon wanted to go beyond a kiss and a cuddle, Chanhee didn't know whether he'd be comfortable doing that.
____
To add some context about when a demon touches an angel-
It only leaves marks if its an intentional touch directly to the skin. If Younghoon accidentally touched Chanhee's hand then it wouldn't leave a mark.
We'll get further into the history of demons/demon marks later on in the book.
Also there's smut coming up, look forward to chapter 21😉
