Chanhee knew there was way too much on his mind, to have Sangyeon here right now. Those black marks adorning his skin could ruin his life. He needed to play it safe, hide away till they disappeared. However, his boyfriend had already arrived, intending to comfort his 'sick' lover. He made his way to Chanhee's room, carrying a bowl of warm soup, and bag that looked like it was overflowing with stuff.
"Eunji asked me to bring this to you, it's your favourite." Speaking softy, Sangyeon passed Chanhee the bowl of soup.
It was a bit too hot to eat, so the boy just held the bowl in his sweater paws, humming a thank you.
"I didn't know what was wrong, so I got you everything. There's blankets, medicine, candles, tissues, vitamins, ooh and I saw this vanilla diffuser that made me think of you." Sangyeon beamed, pulling out all the stuff from his bag.
This was when the guilt started to creep in. Sangyeon treated him so well, why wouldn't he want to marry him? Chanhee couldn't look his boyfriend in the eye, not after what he did last night, not after knowing what creature marked him. Sangyeon was the perfect angel, Chanhee knew he could never be pure like him.
"You didn't have to bring all that, It's only a headache." Chanhee lied, he didn't have the energy to fake being properly ill.
"Well I wanted to make you feel better." Sangyeon chimed. "How about we watch a movie? I'll let you pick whatever cringey rom-com you'd like."
"Really? Wow I'm being spoilt today." Chanhee chuckled.
Sangyeon wrapped his arms around Chanhee, letting the boy snuggle into his chest. He got out his laptop, and the two searched for a movie to watch. "You should have some soup before it goes cold."
Chanhee nodded, realizing the soup had cooled down a bit. He took a big spoonful of his cream of mushroom soup, which Sangyeon gently blew on. He pushed the spoon into his mouth, nearly gagging on the flavor. It was sour, really sour, causing Chanhee to spit the soup onto his sheets.
"What's wrong?" Sangyeon asked. He took a tissue from his bag, wiping the dribble off Chanhee's mouth.
"That tastes awful, I think it's gone bad or something." Chanhee responded.
Sangyeon began wiping the white sheets, now stained with the strange tasting soup. "I'll take it back to the kitchen for you-"
"No it's alright, I can do it." Chanhee interrupted. He climbed out of his bed, carrying the bowl to the kitchen. He was quite shocked, this was the first time in his whole life that Eunji had cooked something he didn't like.
Eunji sat reading a cook book by the oven, waiting for her meringue to finish baking. Marching to her side, the blonde angel slammed the bowl on the counter, creating a loud bang.
"I can accept that you want to punish me, but don't be so sneaky about it." Chanhee hissed, crossing his arms.
"Don't be so ridiculous! It would be in your best interest to eat that."
She pushed Chanhee to the side, pulling out the draw he was stood in front of. She shuffled through the draw for a while, eventually pulling out a small box of food colouring.
"Food colouring?" Chanhee questioned.
"It's only my cover, in a few days this vile will never be seen again, along with those marks on your skin."
Eunji shook a small vile of clear liquid in front of the angels face. This was what she had been talking about, the thing to make his demon marks fade quicker.
"I should have warned you about the taste, but Sangyeon was too eager to bring the soup to you." She added.
Chanhee swiped the vile from Eunji, taking a closer look at the liquid. "Where did you get this?"
"Don't ask me that, just be thankful you have it." Eunji replied, taking the vile back. She shoved the bowl of soup closer to Chanhee, before grabbing her meringues from the oven. "Eat as much as you can, then get that boy out of here. He's a liability."
"Okay." Chanhee muttered, bringing himself and the soup back to his room.
________
The angel couldn't sleep that night, there was so much running through his mind. Millions of questions he wished he could answer. Pulling up his sleeves, he was relieved to see the marks beginning to fade. He wondered how Eunji could get that stuff. Angel and demon relationships were condemned, who was manufacturing it? Probably demons, it would be in there benefit to hide the relationships, so they could keep manipulating the angels. But how would Eunji get in contact with demons, they were sketchy creatures, not people you want to be around.
Though, Younghoon didn't seem that bad.
Chanhee couldn't stop thinking about the demon, he wasn't anything like what his parents described. He had the opportunity to take advantage of the angel, yet, he didn't. His deep red eyes, stuck firmly in his mind. 'Creatures of the dark, carry darkness in their soul', his mother use to tell him that. Were demons really the monsters his fellow angels spoke about? Living lives of evil, fulfilling their cruel nature. If only his parents hadn't blocked his internet, maybe he could actually do some research of his own.
Checking his phone, the time was 1:30 am. Chanhee sighed, feeling himself still wide awake. He contemplated going out again, the night was his only chance to figure things out. He didn't know where he'd go, or who he'd speak to, but he couldn't continue living like this.
'What am I thinking?' Chanhee asked himself.
He knew he shouldn't be concerning himself with demons or anything unpure. He had gotten lucky, to not be caught this time, it would be way to risky to attempt anything like that again. Trying his best to silence his thoughts, Chanhee relaxed his body, eventually falling asleep.
