In truth, even Ah Fu could see that amongst the selection of jewelry, the pearls were undoubtedly the most inconspicuous of the bunch.
Moreover, Jennie did not put on the complete set, only the earrings and headdress!
Generally, when women wear pearls, they would look older. Thus, only certain women were able to make this kind of jewelry look good. However, if the wearer was ideal for it, then even though it was relatively cheap, it could fit a variety of looks.
Lisa seemed to be very confident in Jennie's ability to pull off looks, which was why this set of pearl accessories were included as a possible option.
In the dressing room, Jennie casually combed her hair to one side and inserted a dainty pearl hairpin in it. It paired well with her black hair and looked absolutely exquisite.
The champagne-colored gown perfectly displayed Jennie's slim waist. Her swan-like neck was lean and slender whilst her fair skin was delicate, without any traces of loose skin.
As she came out from the dressing room, her figure when couple with a cold temperament, caused Ah Fu to gape in amazement!
"Pretty?"
How rare it was for Jennie to reveal a smile. She spun around to give Ah Fu a look.
Talk about the ability to look good in a gown! The title she once held of being Luo Hai City's number one socialite back in the day was certainly not undeserved!
Ah Fu's face flushed red with excitement as she nodded furiously. "Young Mistress, you look so pretty... as if you'd just come out of a painting..."
"Oh my, be careful, Ah Fu is two-faced. Previously she'd told me that I looked like I had just walked out from a painting too!"
As Ah Fu was in the midst of praising Jennie, Yeji's clean and crisp voice came from outside, interrupting them with his pleasant voice.
Jennie lowered her head and pursed her lips into a smile. It seemed that Ah Fu had run out of words to say.
Yeji's ponytail swayed about as her playful smile appeared at the door. Her large black eyes narrowed as she locked onto Jennie.
"How gorgeous indeed! It's a pity that I'm not a man, otherwise I'd definitely compete with my brother to win the heart of this beauty."
Jennie reached out and pulled Yeji in. The two sisters fondly held hands, and Jennie said while smiling, "Aren't you terrified of your brother? Do you really dare snatch his woman?"
Yeji stuck her tongue out and glanced around. Then, she grinned and said, "When the tiger's not home, the monkey's the king. Yet, here you are exposing me. When the tiger's at home, its backside is not to be touched (TN: this is a play with the Chinese idiom, which actually refers to a person who's not to be provoked)!"
Yeji's smirking face was very adorable.
Girls of a noble family normally would not arbitrarily use 'rude' words like backside.
Ah Fu was amused by the Fifth Miss' words. She grinned and remarked in a silly tone, "Both of you are equally pretty - it's as if the two of you had just walked out from the same painting. What a pity I'm not the emperor, otherwise, I'll bring you both into my harem!"
The Manoban Family's house rules were very strict. Apart from Ah Fu, probably no one else would dare utter such a crass joke.
Yeji, on the other hand, obviously did not care much about the relationship between a master and a servant, which was why Ah Fu dared to be this wanton!
The carefree Yeji was still the same as she was back in the day, and Jennie quietly sighed to herself.
Yeji walked toward them and looked at the row of gowns and jewelry box set up on the huge bed. She turned back to look at Jennie, then stroked her chin and thought for a bit before smiling and saying, "Why choose such a low-key gown? In my opinion, this magenta-colored piece suits you the best. Your skin is fare, which will make this design absolutely captivating!"
As she spoke, she took out a magenta-colored gown from a box and sized it up against Jennie.
This gown had a shoulder-sling design, and only those with a slim waist could pull it off. The wide mermaid skirt coupled with high-heels would ignite one's imagination. It would look absolutely enchanting on the right person.
"If matched with that set of white diamond necklace and headdress... tsk tsk, phenomenal!"
Yeji still loved the Jennie from back then, full of confidence and magnanimous. In doing so, she had inadvertently become the target of emulations by the various young ladies from other noble families.
Jennie looked at that flamboyant color and shook her head before letting out a sigh. "My dad had passed less than three years ago. It's better to avoid wearing bright red for now..."
