Jennie knew a thing or two about the topic of their discussion.
Back when she used to mingle around in the Manoban Family, she picked up on the surging undercurrent underneath the calm surface of the Manoban Family.
In the early years, Lisa was still young. Add this to his many years studying abroad, and there were very little opportunities for the pair to meet, so their conflicts were not that apparent.
However, after Lisa returned home, he boldly built his own enterprise. Only then did Jae-wook realize that this nephew of his was now ready to take on the world.
The main problem with this was that Jae-wook himself was psychologically unstable!
He might have held an impressive position in society, but until then, he had more or less rode on his deceased brother's coattails. Without Dong-wook's legacy in the military, his journey in politics would not have gone so smoothly.
In other words, if Dong-wook was still alive, then Jae-wook would be condemned to forever stay in the shadows.
Lisa did not get to benefit from his father's position but still managed to go down another route to eventual success, thus leading the Manoban Family to greater heights. This proud young man was respectful when speaking to his uncle in person, but was, in fact, superior and very much aware of it, making Jae-wook feel rather embarrassed.
Woo-bin and Jae-wook had a relatively close relationship. By observing the interactions between her father and Jae-wook , she gradually learned of the dissatisfaction this uncle had toward his nephew.
Nonetheless, household politics and business did not always exist in the same sphere. Hence, Lisa could be the ruler of his own world, while Jae-wook could prance around freely on his own land, neither intruding in each other's space!
In reality, the key to this temporary peace lied with the old mistress!
The person who had the final say in the Manoban Family was obviously the queen bee.
Old Mistress' background as a mother was not to be underestimated, nor was Lisa's mother's background. It was because of this maternal instinct that they were all on Lisa's side.
Even the direction of the gigantic ship that was the Manoban Family would sometimes depend solely on Lisa's will. Hence, Jae-wook felt that he was under attack from all sides - he was powerless before this young man!
Jennie did not initially take these things to heart, so she had never discussed said matters with Lisa.
However, now that she and Lisa had become a couple and copulated, Jennie grew suspicious. What role did her father, Woo-bin, play in this relationship between uncle and nephew?
In the early years, Woo-bin had followed Dong-wook around to expand their territory. When they eventually returned to Luo Hai, Woo-bin had developed a close relationship with Jae-wook. Hence, if Jae-wook was indeed not on good terms with Lisa, then what more his relationship with Woo-bin?
Jennie's mind was racing with questions. As she was lost in thought, she accidentally tripped a woman who was passing by, causing her champagne to spill out and stain a corner of the woman's gown.
People were constantly moving about in the banquet, hence, slight collisions between participants were quite common. Generally, the female socialites who attended these gatherings would always prepare two or three sets of clothes just in case.
Jennie hurriedly apologized, "I'm so sorry. I didn't see you..."
The average person would understand that these things were bound to happen and just simply wave the other party away, ending the matter just like that.
Unfortunately, sometimes, the other party is destined to become your enemy.
"Jennie Kim? Why are you here?" The woman's high-pitched voice caused a few socialites to stop chattering and peer over.
"Why can't I be here?" Jennie got a clear look at the other party and saw that her face, which was as calm as water, was tinged red!
The woman that she had collided into was her father's business rival, the eldest daughter of the Feng Family, Feng Rao!
"Oh, it really is Jennie Ruby Jane Kim..." the second mistress of the Yu Family, Yu Lingyun, chipped in.
"Why is she here? Wasn't she locked up in prison?" Another woman standing by the side was the Zheng Family's eldest son's daughter-in-law, Zhou Xianer. She arrogantly dusted her black gown, as if afraid that Jennie would contaminate her.
People gradually noticed Jennie the 'murderer', and their gaze began to shift to this side of the hall.
Jennie had tried to remain low-key. She did not expect to garner this much attention so suddenly!
