On the second day, Jennie was suddenly struck by an intense

pain that was similar to if one attempted to run 5000 meters without training. Her body that was already lethargic became even more

exhausted because of this.

When Old Mistress called everyone to Upper Mansion in the afternoon

for lunch, Jennie lay on the bed withoutany intention to move.

There were one thousand excuses she could use to decline the

invitation, but she was too afraid to use them.

She would never allow the entire Manoban Family to make fun of her for

excessively indulging in physical pleasures!

Jennie crawled up and applied some light makeup on her face.

Next, she picked out a festive looking light pink knitted dress from her

closet.

There were several small diamonds that glimmered on the translucent

piece of gauze that covered her chest, making it extravagant yet

sufficiently modest at the same time.

She wore a trendy beige cashmere coat over of her dress and walked

downstairs in a pair of stilettos.

Lisa was waiting in the hall. When he saw that she had made

some effort to dress up, his heart was filled with joy. A smile

unconsciously appeared on his mouth before he reached out and

pulled her into his arms before quietly praising her, "So beautiful!"

Jennie's cheeks turned slightly red while she remained silent.

Lisa had not seen her head to Upper Mansion although the

Spring Festival was tomorrow. By coming, she could prevent Old

Mistress from seizing the opportunity to ridicule her. Not only was she

being very courteous, but she was also simultaneously making Old

Mistress happy.

"You might see Nancy's mother in a while. She's slightly insane but

you shouldn't be afraid."

Lisa specifically mentioned this because he had already seen

that woman yesterday. She appeared well-behaved, but if she saw the

important young ladies like Nancy, Yeji, and Jennie who had

dressed up beautifully, she might behave abnormally and yell, "Nancy...

Nancy..."

He had informed her about this because he was worried that Jennie would be frightened if she had to witness this.

Jennie bitterly smiled to herself. A previous "suspect" like herself

was about to meet the victim's mother. Although the other party was

slightly insane, she still felt a bit awkward about it.

"Is that true that Yanni had previously been an astonishing

beauty?" Jennie quietly asked.

"Yes, Somi and Nancy inherited their good looks from their mother.

However, you don't have to worry because she's already insane, so she

doesn't remember the exact details of the incident that happened that

year." Lisa consoled her.

Jennie smiled faintly and replied, "The court has already ruled

me innocent so I don't have anything to worry about. My heart was

merely filled with sympathy when I thought of how a healthy person

had become insane."

"She had taken one wrong turn and ended up going the wrong way.

When she was in City C, her next husband was a gambler that nearly

sold her and her daughter on the black market. After the incident with

Somi happened, it was only natural for her to fall into a dark place. At

the time, Yan Jun had gone to probe into her." Lisa briefly

mentioned the situation the fact that Yan Jun had gone investigate the

mother.

Jennie was shocked. Could it be that Lisa had suspected

the mother and daughter of the Mcdonie clan?

She had clearly witnessed how Lisa had spoiled and showed

extraordinary tolerance toward Somi.

Conversely, Lisa

had always only maintained a necessary amount of courtesy and

distance with Nancy. This was the main reason why Jennie

had never directly clashed with Nancy.

"Nini, I owe Somi a favor that I can never fully repay..." It seemed

as though Lisa had sensed Jennie's concern. He suddenly

embraced Jennie and spoke to her in a gentle tone.

"Could you tell me what that favor is?" Jennie held her breath

before she finally decided to ask. Him being so tight-lipped about this

only made her want to know the details of his secret even more.

It was impossible to act like she did not care.

Previously, Somi

was like a cinnabar mole on Lisa's forehead - something that

would always be there because it was eternally hidden from the

moonlight...

"Nini, I would have told you long ago if I could say! There are some

things that you're much better off not knowing. I've done many things,

but my only wish is for your heart to know peace."

A hint of reluctance flashed across Lisa's dark almond-shaped

eyes as he spoke.

For some reason, a spark of hope flashed in Jennie's heart. Her

voice quivered as she asked, "Then Somi's baby..."

"Wasn't mine!" Lisa firmly said. When he fixed his gaze on Jennie, his eyes were unbelievably calm.
