When Nancy saw that the threads of the embroidered silk handkerchief that Lisa used were so fine that they resembled fine snow at the beginning of spring, she could not help but reach her hand out and stroke it. Nancy did not decline when she saw Jennie moving some of the coal over.

Suddenly she screamed and everyone at the table was shocked.

Nancy sobbed and jumped up from her seat. Her hands were clasped together while her tears and sweat simultaneously trickled down.

Lisa who was very close to her was the first one to realize the problem. He frantically turned his head and beckoned the maid, saying, "Quickly, bring ice cubes and burn ointment here!"

Everyone immediately understood thata piece of burning charcoal had happened to fall on Nancy's wrist when Jennie was passing it to her.

It was total chaos!

The maid hurriedly brought ointment and bandages from the medicine cabinet. Old Mistress came over in a distressed state and consoled Nancy while blaming Jennie.

"You weren't mindful at all. You're so careless! The burns have caused such huge blisters on her beautiful, fair, and soft little hands..."

Since Nancy was pampered since childhood, that was probably why both her hands were devoid of the slightest blemishes while her skin was fair and smooth. Her slender fingertips faintly trembled.

Now that she was burned by the coal, it hurt even when she looked at it, much so since burn wounds were originally the most painful among all the external injuries.

Jennie had thoroughly experienced this kind of pain before...

Old Mistress' criticism did not even stop for a minute!
