Lisa put his hands together and rested his forehead against his arms. His entire being was exuding a frosty aura..

"If she's hearing things from Hanbin, then it's better if you tell her yourself. "Lisa, you shouldn't have chosen to imprison her to shield her from the disaster that befell the Kim Family."

Jisoo paused for a moment. He spotted a trace of guilt flashing in Lisa's eyes, but it was extremely difficult to get this proud man to lower his head. His restrained nature had long ensured that all pain and joy were to be bore by him and him alone.

"You've got to trust Jennie. Maybe she can handle the truth. You're always making decisions for her and not giving her the right to choose at all."

It was rare for Jisoo to act so serious.

He had a certain understanding of Lisa's circumstances, so he had the right to speak up.

"I can't afford to lose! Even if we were to go back in time, I'll still choose the same path that I've taken." Lisa stubbornly said as he rubbed the space between his brows.

"Refinement without ability is worse than plain beggary." Hearing that Lisa was not willing to humble himself, Jisoo unceremoniously commented, "You're not in a better position yourself, are you? "Jennie resents you, and you yourself are constantly fighting with your own demons. What's the point?"

Jisoo had only come to know the reasons behind Lisa's actions later on. Previously, Lisa had been acting all alone. Even when he was under pressure, he would go at it alone.

A thought suddenly crossed Lisa's mind. Even though he was upset now, it was better than the possibility of losing Jennie. At the age of 27, the decisions Lisa made were resolute and no one could deter him. Now that he was almost 30, two years of relative isolation had helped him to mature, but at the same time, had also mtaught him about personal gains and losses.

"Hanbin is her brother. If Hanbin plans to delude her, you're not his opponent. "Whoever holds the family card, holds the trump card. What's more, Jennie has misunderstood you many times in the past."

What Jisoo said was true.

"You keeping it all in would only bring pain to Jennie. "From my point of view, you should come clean about the old Xi Fan case and hold nothing back."

Jisoo finished saying this and paused for a moment, giving Lisa the opportunity to ponder.

Lisa leaned back into his chair and thought for a while before shaking his head and replying, "No way. I can't let her know yet."

Jisoo rolled his eyes in annoyance. "What about Hanbin then? That guy's dark forces are growing larger by day, and they're all based in Luo Hai. Even the Capital City is starting to take note of this matter and has sent a task force to investigate it privately.

"If Hanbin is captured by the Capital City, and he decides to be a sore loser by revealing the truth of the matter from back then, the situation will return to the same as it was three years back. You'll still be unable to keep your Little Nini. Won't that be a waste of effort then?"

Jisoo's words pierced Lisa's heart.

"I never thought of ruthlessly dealing with Hanbin. However, this time I've made up my mind that once I reel in the big fish that is Jae-wook, he'll be my next target!

"Woo-bin is already dead, and Hanbin will be no more. After this, no one will bring up that cold case again."

Lisa's bland tone was laced with murderous intent. His expression was indifferent, and there was a chill to his words.

"You've finally decided to round them up? The timing is rather nice. Jae-wook's transfer order hasn't reached Luo Hai, so you still have time to make preparations." Jisoo smiled sinisterly, the bloodlust flashing through his dark eyes.

After hanging up the video call, Lisa felt a lump form in his throat.

He sat on the sofa in the bedroom, his narrow eyes dim as he watched the thin woman on the bed. Then, he sank deep into thoughts.

Jisoo's words caused him to doubt his own decisions for the first time.

Back then, before Somi was murdered, he had openly married Jennie, but he had also secretly planned to take down the Kim Family.

Woo-bin was vigilant, hence the biological father clutched at whatever straws he could through his own daughter, and in doing so, positioned Jennie at the frontline.

"Lalisa, if you cause the Kim Family to come to ruin, you may win the battle, but you'll definitely lose Jennie! "If you don't touch me, I'll cooperate by letting my daughter marry you; if you so much as lay a finger on me, I'll bring your woman down with me to the murky abyss!"

Woo-bin acted like a cornered animal, causing Lisa to hesitate so as to not involve her. Hence, he could not make his move.

Lisa was also well aware that Jennie was his weak spot, and Woo-bin was certain that Lisa would not dare touch him because of her.

In reality, that was what had really transpired. Lisa bid his time dealing with Woo-bin, thinking that he would first marry Jennie and deal with the rest later. This was the reason he sent his marriage proposal to the Kim Family right after he returned to the country.

Little did he expect for Somi's homicide case to surface at the crucial moment before the wedding. Someone had deliberately planned a set- up and framed Jennie as the murderer!

Lisa did not know whether Woo-bin was behind everything at the time, but a war was about to break out.

Woo-bin had foreseen that Lisa would be unable to juggle his task, hence with Jennie's case tying him down, he would not have the time to deal with him. He brought up Dong-wook's old case and distorted the truth, throwing dust into the public's eyes and making a counter-attack against Lisa.

From that point onward, Lisa hardened his heart and made a decision. He used Somi's case to throw Jennie into prison in order to shield her from the havoc. He would wait until after he had completely dealt with the Kim Family before helping her get out.

Woo-bin did not expect Lisa to act so ruthlessly. Without Jennie  acting as a human shield, the Kim Family's empire was dealt heavy blows and collapsed overnight. When all this happened to Woo-bin, Jennie was still securely locked up in prison.

Unfortunately, his plan did not proceed perfectly. Woo-bin and the forces that Jae-wook had accumulated during his time in Luo Hai had helped Jae-wook to break away.

When Lisa finally finished dealing with Woo-bin  and turned his attention back on this man, Jae-wook was fully-prepared, and he had already completely dissociated himself from Woo-bin.

Lisa could only reset his strategy and hope that he could get hold of some dirt on Jae-wook by pure chance. Unfortunately, the game went on for two more years. In truth, he had lived through these two years in anguish.

While Jennie was unjustly imprisoned, Lisa did not visit her at all in order to avoid Jae-wook thinking he could use her against him again.

He created an illusion that he did not care about Jennie at all.

This not only deceived Woo-bin, but also had Jae-wook completely fooled. The uncle and nephew were fighting with each other in secret, building their own forces whilst waiting for the best time to strike.

...

Lisa smoked for a while in the study room. He gradually calmed down and returned to his senses.

He returned to the bedroom and saw Jennie wrapped up in the blanket and sleeping soundly.

She slept deeply throughout the night and dreamt of many weird things. In her dream, she was back at Xi Fan, riding on a horse and galloping through the vast and expansive grassland. Her mother and Woo-bin were following from close behind. One's gaze was full of love, while the other's was apathetic.

Jennie rarely dreamt of her time at Xi Fan. This was because she had lived a carefree life during those ten years. Her dreams normally caused her pain and heartache..
