Life is peculiar, especially when you end up living it for longer than you ever expected. You never thought you were going to get as far as you did, after how your childhood was, you never had very much hope for what the future would bring you. You always expected yourself to end up fatally hurt on a mission, doing your 'duty', not being in control of your own choices, but that wasn't the case.

But you didn't think that now, not anymore, you were happy and ready to live your life to the fullest.

People go around saying that nobody's life is perfect, except you thought they must have been wrong because, in your eyes, your life was perfect. You had a beautiful wife, 3 beautiful children, a gorgeous home, and then more happiness and love than you ever thought you deserved. Of course, there were still some days where you felt like the world was caving in on you, and Natasha knew that, but she also knew exactly how to pull you back to her, bring you home. It had roughly been 6 years since you and Natasha got married, and so much had happened within that decade, both personal and family.

One of the main things being, that after you and Natasha had come back from your honeymoon, you immediately did what was promised and began trying for a baby. It was a difficult process at first, a lot of unwanted feelings and memories brought back up, but your wife was your rock. Natasha did everything in her power to ensure your comfortability, make sure you were happy and in control of the situation, the last thing she would ever do would be to put you in a position that you didn't want to be in. It took a couple of tries, but after a few months of trying different doctors and methods, you finally got that positive pregnancy test, the one you both had been longing for.

**

You sighed as you flicked through the treatment magazine that your doctor gave you, grumbling to yourself as you read about the signs that would possibly show, if the treatment had been successful, and you were likely to get a positive pregnancy test. The whole thing was tiring, you were sick of being prodded with needles and having to take certain injections, you were beginning to feel uneasy.

You and Natasha had both been reassured multiple times that you were able to bear children, you made sure to get that checked first before you even thought about taking the idea of a baby any further. The situation was starting to get upsetting for you, you weren't expecting it to take as long as it was, and you knew Nat was just as disappointed too, both of you had prepared yourselves and made sure you were ready for when you got those 2 pink lines on your pregnancy test.

You felt Nat stir next to you which made you glance at the clock that was settled on your bedside, 7 AM, shit. You were sure you were only flipping through the magazine for a few minutes when you couldn't sleep, not flipping through it for a few hours. Tucking your bottom lip between your teeth, you slowly made your way out of bed and let Natasha have a lie-in as you padded your way downstairs to the kitchen.

You hummed to yourself as your moved to the front room with a cup of coffee, sitting comfortably on the couch to watch TV, a bagel in your free hand. Roughly 30 minutes passed before you found yourself back in the kitchen rummaging through the cupboards for something else to eat. It wasn't very often you ate in the morning, never mind eating more than once, but you were just so hungry and there was something specific you wanted but couldn't tell what.

"Ugh, I hate that there's no food," you mumbled to yourself as you looked through the fully stocked cupboards and refrigerator, "No food I want anyway." Your eyes fixated on the jar of pickles in the fridge, you weren't a fan of pickles, but your stomach was telling you otherwise. Grabbing the hummus alongside it, you sat at the kitchen table and snacked on the food in front of you.
