Put aside the nerves, ignore your doubts, every step will take you closer to where you need to be. Just keep walking, don't let yourself hesitate, for even if the outcome is one less than desired, you cannot escape fate. The people you pass, who flash a smile, or mumble words of encouragement, fuel you onward. You're not alone in this battle, there is always someone here to support you. Only a door stands in your way, don't think twice, turn the handle, head inside. This is the moment you've waited for your whole life.
"Sunoo, take a seat please."
Keeping silent, Sunoo sat himself at the chair across from his company head. He'd only met Mr. Jung a handful of times, but never had the chance to have a full conversation with him. He was incredibly handsome, which made sense since he was an idol in the past. It was intimidating being here, called personally by one of the most powerful people in the company. He hoped he knew what this was about, if so, this would be a momentous day.
"How's practice been lately?" He asked, more casually than Sunoo expected. He leaned back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other, taking a sip of his black coffee.
"It's been good." Sunoo responded, receiving a chuckle from the man.
Mr. Jung placed his coffee to the side, resting his hands on his lap. "Well I'm glad to hear. Do you know why I called you to my office today?" He questioned, watching Sunoo shake his head. "I actually have something really important to discuss with you. I'm sure you're well aware of our upcoming boy group, we've been discussing the lineup for quite a few months now, and I'm happy to say that, you will make your debut."
Debut
This was everything Sunoo had ever dreamed of, from the minute he could talk, he started to sing, from the minute he could walk, he started to dance, from the minute he opened his eyes, he knew he was born to entertain. He never knew if, or when, he'd hear those words, this was overwhelming.
"Thank you so much for believing in me, I'll work hard and I won't let you down." Sunoo stated.
"You're a very talented person Sunoo, I know you'll do wonderful things for this group. Now you should get back to practice, I have some other people I need to speak to." Mr. Jung said, gesturing to the door.
Sunoo got up immediately, bowing before leaving the room. He could barely contain his smile, rushing down the corridor. The conversation was so short, it was hard to believe it even happened at all. Though, it did happen, the goosebumps all over his body reminded him of that. In a few months he was going to debut, this was the best news he could have ever gotten.
As soon as he was out of the office building, Sunoo lent up against the brick wall. He probably should have gone straight back to practice, but he really needed to call someone.
"Sunghoon! You'll never guess what..."
____
"That's amazing! I'm so proud of you! Don't plan anything for tonight, we're going out to celebrate-"
"Park on the ice now!"
"I really have to go... I love you too."
Chucking his phone on a random bench, Sunghoon made his way onto the ice. His heart still beating out of his chest, after that conversation with Sunoo. He really was excited for the boy, he knew how much he deserved to debut.
"The Olympics is only getting closer, you need to get your head in the game!" His coach yelled.
He'd been training with a whole different team since coming to university, Coach Jimin wasn't apart of the Olympic training committee, so he had to stop training with him. His new coach, named Leeteuk, was way stricter, and very much more vocal. It was strange at first to get use to, but as the months passed, Sunghoon adapted to his coaching style.
"We need to run the first half of your short program again, there's a lot we need to fix. Take a few warm up skates around the rink, I'll get the music ready." Leeteuk commanded, heading off to sort out the music.
Sunghoon felt a little unsteady on the ice today, sure he was in a good mood, but his body just wasn't feeling it. He'd been doing such intense practice recently, and with the amount of assignments piling up, he was pretty exhausted.
After circling the rink a few times, Sunghoon took a little break, wondering why Leeteuk wasn't back yet. He couldn't really ponder that thought for long, as a certain dark haired person caught his attention.
Jay, who had recently dyed their hair black, strolled up to the barrier, resting one elbow on the edge. "See you've escaped Leeteuk for a moment, must be nice." They said, knowing all about the harsh teachings of the coach.
"Well practice did only just start, but I think I'm in for a rough one." Sunghoon sighed, running his hand through his raven locks. "Are you training today?" It wasn't too uncommon to have Jay swing by, considering their basketball team played in the next building over.
Jay hummed a yes, swinging their kit bag into sight. Sunghoon nodded, his eyes peering off towards the ceiling of the building, his mind flickered back to the call he'd had only 10 minutes ago, reminding of him of something he needed to bring up with Jay. "Oh you probably haven't heard yet, but Sunoo's going to debut. I want all of us to go out tonight to celebrate, I assume you're free."
"Wow that's awesome, that means he's debuting with Heeseung." Jay responded, noticing the furrowed eyebrows staring back at them. Quickly picking up that Sunghoon must not have known, they informed him about the news. "He put it in the group chat, you can check later, but that's pretty sick that they get to debut together. Now I'm just waiting for Wonnie to text me about it too." They added.
"Yeah there's no way he won't debut, I bet Riki will too, I mean they're both so talented." Sunghoon said, thinking back to his original point. "Anyway, you're free tonight, right?"
"Of course, when am I not free to get wasted with my friends?"
"Park!" Leeteuk shouted, making both Park's turn their heads. The tough coach stormed over to the pair, directing his glare at his least favorite of the two. "I should really ask your coach why you spend some much time in my rink, you can barely handle a ball, let alone skate." He snidely remarked.
Jay bit their tounge, accepting the rude words from the man. They were use to these comments, knowing fair well that Leeteuk hated their presence. "It's great to see you too Leeteuk."
"Out of my-"
"Yeah, yeah, out of my rink now...I know the drill." Jay interrupted, glancing at their friend for the last time. "I'll see you later, and good luck." They said, whispering the last part.
As Jay left, Leeteuk signaled up to the booth for them to play the music. Sunghoon took that as his cue to get in position, low key wishing Jay never stopped by, since it always put Leeteuk in a bad mood.
