Clinking of glasses rang through the bar, as the group celebrated the exciting news. Lifting his drink up high, Heeseung stood up, directing himself at his friends. He thought it would be cringey to make a speech, but he also felt like he had to, considering he was the oldest.
"So guys, after years of hard work, and commitment, I can finally say I'm going to debut. Which is pretty incredible already, but what makes it even better, is that I get to debut beside my best friends." He said, glancing affectionately at Sunoo. "I want to thank you guys for supporting me, and always staying by my side. I can't wait to see what the future brings, but for now, let's get wasted!" Heeseung concluded, soaking in the sound of his friends cheers.
Mi-Sun smiled as Heeseung took the seat beside her, snaking his hand around her waist. "You did so well baby, that was a great speech." She said.
"Mm I agree, especially the last part." Jay added, attempting to chug down the remaining half of their glass. With a quick tug, they felt the glass ripped away from them, spilling a sticky trickle of alcohol onto their shirt.
"I'm not dealing with drunk Jay, where's Jungwon?" Jake asked, carefully placing the glass onto the table.
A few of the boys peered around, noticing that Jungwon hadn't shown up. Thinking about it, Sunoo hadn't spoken to Jungwon all day, he hadn't come to practice, nor text him at all. It was very out of character.
"Did he reply on the group chat?" Sunoo questioned, referring to the message Sunghoon had put in there earlier. He told everyone to meet at their regular spot to celebrate, and usually when someone couldn't come, they'd let everyone know.
Sunghoon pulled out his phone, scrolling through the array of spam in the group chat. He eventually reached his message, and there was not a single message from Jungwon. "Nope, nothing in the group chat."
An unsettling feeling suddenly dawned on the group, could it be that Jungwon wasn't going to debut? It was almost impossible to believe. The other three boys had announced their debuts immediately after finding out, but Jungwon hadn't contacted anyone, it was weird.
Clearing their throat, Jay killed the awkward silence. "He's probably tired, I'll go check on him at the dorm." They said, ignoring the grunts from Jake, who they basically climbed over to get out of the booth.
As Jay was leaving, they felt their body crash against another, nearly knocking them over. Looking up, they shook their head, just walking past the moody boy.
"You always start without me." Riki whined, slumping down beside Jake. His eyes widened at the multitude of alcohols decorating the table, picking up a few shots, he brought them to his lips, hoping to down them before-
The glass shattered against the floor.
Smirking at Riki, Heeseung lent back into his seat, no longer stretched across the table. This wasn't the first time he'd had to smack a drink away from Riki, and it surely wouldn't be the last. They'd agreed that this bar would be their usual hang out space, but that didn't mean he'd let the younger drink.
"Come on Heeseung, I've had a long day." Riki groaned, crossing his arms over his chest.
"You seem pretty glum for someone who's going to debut." Sunghoon remarked, receiving a death glare from the younger. "Stop with the daggers, just tell us whats wrong."
Letting out a sigh, Riki loosened his tie, relaxing himself against the plush velvet of the booth. "I hate this school, I thought transferring to Seoul would be cool, but I have no friends, and the teachers suck. I got stuck in detention for 2 hours today, all because I feel asleep in class. Like seriously? I was practicing till 3 in the morning, they should cut me some slack. That's why I'm still in this stupid uniform." Jake patted the boys back, as he finished his ranting.
The group had heard this story many of times, about how much Riki despised his new school. They couldn't help but feel bad, since he only transferred because of them. The boy didn't want to be alone, so he followed the crew to Seoul.
"Ah this kid." Heeseung groaned, hurriedly getting up from the table. He left the group for a minute, soon returning with a can of coke. After pouring the contents of the can into a cup, he also chucked in one shot of vodka. Of course he didn't support underage drinking, but it's not like he didn't do it when he was Riki's age. "Take this, it's all I'll allow." He said, pushing the glass over to his mopey friend.
"Thanks I guess." Riki muttered. He understood that Heeseung was doing something nice, but it didn't mean he had to appreciate the lack luster amount of alcohol presented to him. How was he expected to drown his sorrows, with this underwhelming concoction.
"So what was it like talking to Mr. Jung?" Jake asked, trying to liven up the conversation again. He knew his friends had never properly interacted with the man, so he was curious to find out what he was really like. "My mum always talks about when she went to his concert that one time. I swear she'll never shut up about how hot he is."
"I don't blame her, he's really good looking." Sunoo giggled, hearing a scoff immediately come from his boyfriend. "Don't be jealous, he's my company head, and 45, and literally married. You know I only have eyes for you." He added, leaning his head onto Sunghoon's shoulder, shooting the most adorable puppy eyes at him.
Sunghoon melted at his boyfriends cuteness, interlocking his fingers with the boys. "You better, you're mine." He said, moving his face closer to Sunoo, so he could shower him in butterfly kisses.
"Aww you guys are killing me." Mi-Sun squealed.
"Yeah I might actually drop dead right now." Jake scowled, adverting his eyes from the lovey dovey pair. Sure he use to love Sunghoon, but that was years ago now. The main reason for his disgust, had nothing to do with SunSun, it was more because he only broke up with his boyfriend a few weeks ago.
"We need to get Jake a boyfriend." Sunoo stated.
"Stop it, I'm getting painful flash backs." Heeseung threw his head down, pinching the middle of his eyebrows.
Ignoring Heeseung's request, Sunoo continued. "It's been three weeks, time to move on. I know lots of guys who'd love to date you, let me set you up."
Riki felt himself tense up, at the talk of Jake's love life. It's not like he cared if Jake got a new boyfriend, it was probably just that vodka getting to him.
"Hmm I don't know Sunoo, I think I'd rather just be single for a while."
