Daera walked back and forth in front of Sunghoon's office, curious about what happened in the emergency room. The sky has turned dark and she was supposed to be home since her shift ended. The door opened and he flinched in surprise when he saw her leaning against the wall next to the entrance.
"What are you doing here? It's getting late," he said. She asked, "What happened in the emergency room? The patient was bleeding so badly and–"
"You don't have to worry about it. It's nothing. She died," he said blankly. She widened her eyes, "Do you know her? Is she one of your girlfriends?"
He nodded and sighed, "Someone is trying to get back at me but I don't know who."
"This person must have something against you. Probably revenge or jealousy? Be careful, Sunghoon," she said worriedly. He couldn't help but smile softly and patted her head gently.
"Didn't know you could be this caring for me," he teased. Instead of pushing his hand away, she just let him pat her head, looking at him smiling gently. Her heart flutters and her stomach felt a good kind of weirdness.
He looked around the empty hallway, "It's getting late now. I'll be done in a few minutes. It's too dangerous to go back home alone right now. I'll drive you home."
"What about my car?"
"I'll have someone send it home," he said before going back to his office.

Daera squatted down as she looked at the raindrops falling. She stood at the entrance of the hospital outside, looking at the cloudy night sky. Sounds of rain fill the air. She exhaled heavily as she shivered in cold.
She put out a hand and watched as the raindrops landed on her palm. The sleeves to her coat became wet and she just let it be until a dark figure appeared behind her, creating a big shadow.
She immediately stood up and saw Jay holding an umbrella for her. He sighed, "Why are you standing outside? You're going to get sick."
He walked forward and gripped her wrist before handing her the umbrella. She turned around and watched as he ran to his car, protecting himself from the rain with only his hands.
She tightened her grip around the umbrella and watched as he drove away from the parking lot.
Sunghoon frowned and held his umbrella tightly, seeing Jay already giving an umbrella to Daera. He cleared his throat and approached her, "You ready to go?"
She nodded and realised he was not using his umbrella so she pulled him closer, "You're going to get soaked in the rain!"
They both ran to his car and giggled as he almost slipped on the road. They got into the vehicle and he turned on the heater.
"That was so cold!" She shivered. He turned on the engine and drove away. It was already midnight and she looked at the view outside. Building lights greeting her.
It reminded her of New York. The city lights greeted her and the car lights were bright at night.
"Do you like Jay?" Sunghoon asked out of the blue, wanting to break the silence. She looked at him and sighed, "He's okay. He's polite and a gentleman."
She glanced at him and chuckled, "Do you have someone that you like?"
"Yeah."
She fixed her posture, "Really? Is she pretty? Is she the daughter of some company group?"
"Yes and no. She's not pretty, she's beautiful. Inside and out. She's just like you, she hates me. She came from a normal family."
"I don't hate you. You just annoy me. Maybe she doesn't know you that much, that's why you thought she hates you. You seem to like her so much," her lips curved into a soft smile.
He grinned at the thought of her, "Yeah. I've liked her for four years already."
"That's so long! And you haven't confessed your feelings? That's so unlike you!" She asked in shock. He laughed and turned the car to the right.
Deep down, Daera's heart dropped. She leaned against the seat and looked again at the view outside.
So he likes someone now? Am I too late? Why am I even thinking about this?
