That motherfucker.
How was he allowed to enter and you weren't. You felt your blood boil as you made your way through the crowd.
- Sorry Miss Vilon, I cannot let you pass any further. - you gritted your teeth together as one of the enforcers blocked your way. 'Son of a bitch' you mutter to yourself.
- VIKTOR! - you scream at the top of your lungs, trying to reach the young cripple. Fortunately for you he heard you and turned his attention towards. Spotting you in the crowd was an easy task considering your characteristic hair colour. He turned his attention towards enforcer Grayson and said something. She nodded and followed by herself into the crumbling building. Viktor slowly but steadily made his was towards you.
- Y/N, what a surprise to see you, what can I-
- What are you doing here Viktor... - you cut him off abruptly. The boy frowned a bit.
- I was sent here by Professor Heimerdinger to confiscate any illegal items found on the scene and arrest one of Academy's students - you felt your heart sink. If Jayce were to get arrested he would surely be thrown out of the Academy, or worse. There was only one idea left in your brain and you had to try. You firmly grabbed the young Zaunite by the hand he wasn't holding his cane with. You clasped his hand in between yours and looked at him, eyes wide.
- Please Viktor... - your voice was dripping with sweetness and desperation, a mix that broke many grown men before - ...that student you are going to arrest is a dear friend mine. If you let him off with a warning, I'll do anything to make it up to you... - you slowly start making small circles on the top side of his palm, leaning just slightly closer. At that point you could feel the slightest scent of cologne from the young assistant. He looked surprised, his cheeks just slightly flushed with red, and for a second you honestly thought it worked. But then, Viktor quickly claimed his hand back, the look on his face showing nothing but disgust at your desperation.
- I'm sorry but I have a job to do. I suggest you leave the scene as well before I accuse you of plotting with the suspect - he took a step back and eyed you carefully - It's truly humiliating how you'll do anything to get what you want - his voice dripped with acid so much it would make Zaunite chembarons embarassed. He turned away from you and walked away, his head high, back straight. You couldn't believe it.
You lost.
You were so stunned, for a second you didn't feel the two hands that grabbed you by the shoulders and shook you violently. As your mind slowly rebooted you recognised a familiar face standing in front of you, visibly concerned. Amity. She was shaking you hard, desperatly trying to reach your lost head.
- Jesus Christ Y/N, what the fuck happened here - the girls eyes shimmering with tears as she looked over at Jayce's apartment.
- I lost Amity - you said quietly - I fucking lost - and for the first time in a long time, a single tear broke out and fallen down your cheek.

~

Both of you watched in shock as Grayson and the rest of the enforcers took Jayce away in handcuffs. Viktor slowly followed after them, analyzing Jayce's journal. Amity sobbed violently into your shoulder, completely annihilating your Academic vest. You brain was working overdrive. You were thinking of every single scenario including breaking Jayce out of jail and the 3 of you escaping to the Undercity. 'It was definitely hextech that exploded but why, afterall Jayce said he had a breakthrough. Was he wrong? And I still have my reputation to keep up. Will me being at the scene of crime and ditching school ruin that? But what if it is all lost already. What if after today's incident Viktor just rats me out to Heimerdinger about late night parties. What if he connects Jayce's work to the Unity Project. What if...'
- Y/N... - a soft whimper broke you out from your hyperdrive.
- Yes Bubbles?
- Can we please go home?
- Of course.. - you took her hand and together the two of you made your way back to your dorms.

~

At the dorms both of you said nothing. Amity completely resigned, slumped over her desk and a bottle of wine. You on the other hand were pacing back and forth around the room, unable to sit still. Suddenly, a knock on the door brought both of you back to reality. You quickly approached the door. It was one of the guys from your year. He tried to flirt with you on multiple occasions but you never payed much attention to his advances.
- Hey Y/N. - the young boy said while eyeing your wrinkled uniform obscenely and blushing slightly - Everyone's been talking about Jayce's arrest and the explosion in his apartment. I just thought I'd check on you, if you're feeling well.
- Do I look well? - you ask, annoyed at such ridiculous question. The boy coughed trying to hide his embarrassment.
- Just... If you need to talk about all of this you know where to find me - the boy stepped back clumsily.
- Thanks, but I need to process some things on my own. I'll see you at the lectures tomorrow. - you closed the door before the poor boy got a chance to respond.
- I heard the trial is going to happen tomorrow, first thing in the morning - you heard a muffled voice coming from behind the door - And that they're going to make it publicly available for those involved in the case. Maybe if you ask Heimerdinger, he'll give you an invitation. - you opened the door widely. The young student jumped back, surprised at the sudden change of atmosphere. You quickly straightened your uniform and fixed your white scarf, while swiftly passing the visitor. You threw a quick 'thank you' his way and put your hair up into a messy bun. You didn't even close the door behind yourself. There was no time. You had to hurry. You had an audience with Academy's dean.

~

You hastily made your way towards Professors office for the second time that day. You straightened your uniform one last time and knocked firmly at the door. You waited a couple seconds and knocked again.
- The Professor isn't available at the moment. - you turn your head towards the voice and focus your vision on your unexpected watcher. A lean figure made it's way towards you, the sound of his walking cane filling the dark empty hall with regular tapping.
- When will he be available? - you asked coldly, your words revealing anything but sympathy towards the young boy.
- It's hard to tell, he is currently speaking with the prisoner.. - he stepped into the light shinning above Heimerdingers door - After that he's probably going to go and prepare for tomorrows trial. - as Viktor stepped closer, you noticed a thick book in his hand. Your blood started to boil, as you quickly recognised it as Jayce's journal. Characteristic hammer engraved into the silver plaque reflected the light onto the marble floor.
- That journal does not belong to you - you said as you felt your fists clench again.
- I suppose it doesn't belong to you either... - Viktor slowly turned the pages of the notebook, leaning over the wall, his walking cane placed by his side. His hazel eyes glimmered in dim light as he was curiously looking through your friends notes - ..now tell me what do you know about this 'hextech' project - you knew this was coming.
The interrogation. It was obvious they would start asking around his closest friends to find out who else could've been involved with the illegal studies. If they somehow linked the two of you, it would only be a matter of time before the enforcers would go and search your lab, where they would find Unity's blueprints and launch details, as well as many, many, many small scale prototypes. Items that a typical student definitely shouldnt've had just sitting around inside their desk.
- Hexwhat? - you asked, acting surprised and concerned - I don't know what you're talking about.
- Well that's strange, I thought the two of you were close... - the boy said while turning the page.
- Jayce is just my colleague, we have a couple of lectures together.
- Hmmm, that's interesting. I always thought 'colleagues' didn't leave their door keys in each others apartments... - Viktor swiftly pulled out your missing keys from his pocket and showed them to you on an open palm. The metal shapes were covered in black and blue smut from the explosion and the tag attached was just slightly burned on the edges. 'Shit, shit, shit, shit' you feel your mind give into the panic. Your body however remained calm, not letting any signs of internal nervousness show. - Please take it... I believe this is your room number on the tag...
It didn't make any sense. If he didn't want to blackmail you, then why did he take the only evidence that could connect you to the explosion. At that moment it didn't matter though. You confidently took the keys and hid them safely in your pocket. Inside, you wanted to laugh at his foolishness, but you kept a stone face and continued the game.
- I lost them a couple of days ago. Jayce must've found them and brought them back to the apartment.
- Hmmm yes, that would be really convenient for you, wouldn't it- the boy turned his gaze away from the journal and looked at you from under his lashes for the first time since the start of the conversation - I also seem to recall you begging me not to arrest him earlier today. You seemed... - Viktor paused and chuckled inelegantly -... quite desperate - you felt your knuckles go numb from the constant pressure you put on you tightened fist. You smiled sweetly and looked directly into his eyes.
- I don't recall any such thing happening - you said with confidence and turned away from your converser - If Professor Heimerdinger is unavailable, I suppose I'll come back later... - you started to walk towards the hall's exit.
You might not have been able to get the invitation to the trial, but you received the only thing that could possibly incriminate you and connect you to the magical explosion. Without the keys it was Viktors word against yours.
- If I wanted to set you up, I would've done so long time ago... I just want to help you - you stopped, as Viktors words filled the previously quiet room. His smooth accent echoed of the walls. You smiled to yourself and let out a quiet laugh.
- Is that so? - you asked as you continued to walk away, leaving the crippled boy alone in the dark.
