Okay, the descriptions in this chapters might be just a bit gore, so a TRIGGER WARNING for people with weaker stomachs.

This chapter also takes place at the same time as the previous one, but from a different perspective. Either way, enjoy!!

Amity focused POV

~

Amity fidgeted with the stand, as she was tightening the last couple of screws, the clanking of metal against metal echoing through the empty hallway. Normally, she'd already be done by that time, but wanting to gain some more time to prepare, she asked the commission to let her be the last one to present. Thankfully for her, they agreed.

She fixed the green vial into place with a quiet hiss and at that very moment the large, wooden door behind her opened. A semi-familiar, yet kind face appeared in the door, sending her a reassuring smile. The girl quickly threw a white cloth over her work, swiftly hiding the glass dome and the copper stand from view.

,,It's time Amity..."

The woman said and the girl nodded in response, fixing her long dark brown hair in the process. She had them tied into a neat ponytail with a decorative pink flower attached to the hair tie. She was never very good at doing her makeup, yet with some help from Y/N, she managed to get two, thin, black lines above her lashes. She straightened her uniform, repositioning her silky, dark green scarf so that it was spreading evenly across her chest.

She still remembered the day she had received it, when she came to Heimerdinger's office at her very first day in the Academy. The colour was symbolic of her major, and she was wearing it proudly almost every day. She never had to exchange it for a new one, as she took an almost religious care of it, making sure to take it off before any kinds of experiments.

She confidently walked into the room after the Professor, panting slightly as she carried the project inside. The room was based on a circle, it's marble walls decorated with majestic columns. It was brightly litten by a large, round window looming above the commission's table. Four people were sitting at it already, but she managed to recognise only 2 of them. Her chemistry professor and her beloved arcane biology professor. The green-eyed woman smiled reassuringly towards her, waving softly with her hand from under the table. The girl returned it gratefully as she carefully approached the commission.

Amity settled her work on a small table, about 4 meters away from her judges. She huffed slightly, fixing her uniform again, and covering the project just a little bit better with the stiff material. In the mean time, the woman, that let her inside, settled down on the chair in the middle, gesturing for her to start the presentation. The girl cleared her throat and started to speak.

,,Dear Comission, I've always truly stood by the idea, that nature is the greatest designer. It is constantly improving it's work... Adapting itself into new conditions she's been put in, making the most out of often hazardous situations. The process of mutations like these takes ages, millenniums even..."

Amity paused for a second, quickly gazing over her judges faces. Their expressions remained unchanged, barely impressed by the words that left her mouth. She swallowed nervously, conciously fixing a smile on her face to appear just a little more confident.

,,Thankfully, nature has left us with tools to improve it in various ways, whether it means cross-fertilisation of different species to create a new one, or augmenting the crops to grow faster and give more fruits. I, however, managed to create a mutation, that can adapt to industrial climates, the likes of the Undercity, and also improve them. It's a variation of a Night Lily and since it doesn't need Sun for photosynthesis to begin with, the Zaunite Grey shouldn't prevent it from thriving. I also had strengthened it's core tissue to survive in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, and... gave it the ability to remove even extreme pollution from both air and water, and convert it into the necessary energy to survive."
