The first thing you felt in the morning was violent shaking. The second was an insane headache making you want to vomit all over yourself.
- Y/N it's 7 already, your lecture starts in half an hour - you heard a familiar voice, slightly muffled by the constant pain in your head
- Amity?
- Yeah, get the fuck up man. You're going to ruin your squeaky clean reputation if you are late.
- Shit... - you groaned and got up slowly, every movement triggering a wave of pain in your body. Amity passed you some powder and a bottle of wine.
- Drink up, it'll help you with the hangover - you smelled the wine and the memories of yesterday's night immediately got back to you. You felt like vomitting again. Still, you took the powder and washed it down with the cheap beverage.
- I love you... - you said while giving the bottle back to Amity. She took a long sip and placed the bottle on the nightstand.
- I love you too - she said while helping you up. She leaned over you and sniffed you - You really need a shower girl.

The magic of painkillers and hot water slowly, but steadily brought you back to life. You put your uniform on and pulled your fresh hair into a neat bun, pulling out parts of your bangs to nicely fall around your face. You looked at the dark circles under your eyes and sigh. You took a bit of concealer and neatly hid the remains of last nights party. 'Thank Gods for Piltovers make-up factories...' - you thought to yourself. You looked at the clock and smiled. You still had 10 minutes to spare before you had to leave.

- Soo... How was last night? - asked Amity while leaning against the bathroom doorframe - Any interesting news you'd want to share?
- If you mean Jayce, no. I'm sorry Bubbles, he didn't mention you. - you said feeling genuinely sorry for the girl. You started calling Amity 'Bubbles' the moment you found out she's from house Boublé, which for some reason reminded you of 'Bubbles'. You never called her that in public though. You knew well enough, that what you say often catches on with people, and if she got called names because of you, you'd never forgive yourself.
- It's fine... What got you so drunk then? Just please don't tell me you were losing drinking games on purpose again....
- I'm sorry, I guess I just didn't know the answers - you laughed and shrugged your shoulders
- You always know the answers Y/N... - the girl responded, sounding sadder than you expected her to. She genuinely looked worried about you. She must've realized you acknowledged the sadness in her voice because she looked away from you, her voice stuttering slightly- Look, you came back really drunk last night and talked gibberish while you slept, I...
- What did I say? - you cut her off rudely
- It doesn't matter.
- It matters a lot. What did I say Amity? - you asked frustrated. The girl was taken back a bit by your reaction.
- You were talking about Unity again, the spaceship. About how it's your duty to fix it. Look, I know you don't like to talk about the past but please, maybe...
- If you know I don't like to talk about it then why are you asking me to - you said sharply. Every word cold and sharp as a razor. It's true you didn't like to talk about it. Mostly because it always brought up the topic of how your family, once great and well respected became a symbol of a mistake. Of great ambitions leading to failure and disappointment. Leading to deaths of hundreds of people that gathered that day to see the launch. Hoping to see humans reach stars. And now, you were their last hope to fix it. You spent your entire life trying to find the 'mistake in calculation' as they called it. You looked through the blueprints time and time again, only to find them spotless. Perfect. Same as the simulations which all proved to be successful. You looked into terrorist attacks, safety precautions, hell, even the air conditions on launch day. And it all lead to nothing. And through all those loose threads you still believed you could make it. Find the mistake, fix it and launch Unity again. You would reach the stars and show them all. Show your father, that you truly are the greatest Vilon. If people knew what you were doing in Academy's lab's you'd be sent to Zaun in a matter of minutes. They'd call you insane, too terrified of past mistakes to see the possibilities. That's why you sympathised with Jayce and his project so much. The two of you were almost the same. And that's why only he knew.
- I'm sorry... - a soft voice brought you back to reality. - I shouldnt've pushed you to talk I just..... - the girl stoped for a second - I'm here for you Y/N... I'll always be. - your breathing slowed down a bit. You realised you unknowingly clenched your fists. You relaxed them slowly, nail marks still present on the palm of your hand.
- I'm sorry too... I didn't mean to snap at you - you said genuinely. You walked up to Amity and pulled her in for a hug - Just don't ask me about Unity anymore. Please?
- Okay.. - the girl said quietly and gently hugged you back. After a couple of seconds you pulled away.
- Let's get to the lecture shall we?
- Yeah... By the way who was the boy that you were talking with last night?
- What boy?

~

During the lecture, bits and pieces of yesterday's events started getting back to you. The crippled Zaunite boy with a bunch of keys. 'Where the hell did he get them from? Did he steal them from Heimerdingers office? And most importantly, did he rat you out about drinking on campus grounds?' The situation was getting out of hand and you definitely didn't like to loose control. Most people you met were easy to read, easy to predict in their actions. You always knew almost instantly who to trust, who to drink with and who to stay away from. But that boy was a wildcard. There was no predicting what he'd do.
- Ms.Vilon are you still with us? - a deep voice brought you back to the lectures hall and caught you off guard for just a second. However your sharp mind didn't fail you. You stood up from your seat.
- My greatest apologies Professor, I'll make sure it won't happen again - you said sweetly, while sending him the most charming smile you could muster. Thankfully it worked.
- It's perfectly fine Ms. Vilon, I can see how a person as ambitious as you, would be taken back by professor Heimerdingers decision regarding his new assistant. - you froze for a second
'What assistant?'

~

The moment the lecture ended you furiously left the hall and almost sprinted towards Proffesor Heimerdingers office. How the fuck was that possible. That poor kid from Undercity was to take a spot as the deans assistant? Something you've worked your entire life for? What will your father say when he finds out? You reached the door and knocked, a bit too harshly for your liking. You quickly fixed your scarf and hair as you heard quick footsteps approaching the other side.
- Oh, dear Y/N, what a surprise! Please, please, come in. - the little yordle stepped aside to let you in.
- Good morning Professor, I was hoping to talk to you about.. - you froze as you noticed a slender figure sitting on the chair across deans desk, a walking cane leaning against an armrest, Heimerdingers poro on his lap. The little creature upon seeing you, jumped off the mans lap and rushed to greet you, running circles around your legs. Thankfully this time your mind didn't fail you either. - I'm sorry Proffesor Heimerdinger, I didn't know you had a guest. I can come back later if that's okay.
- No, no, no, no need for that. I meant to introduce you two anyway. Y/N this is my newest addition to the staff - Viktor. He is going to assist me in all my future lectures and studies... - the yordle turned his attention to the boy who swiftly got up from the armchair and was now walking towards you, slightly leaning over his walking cane - Viktor, this is my brightest and most prominent student - Y/N. - the crippled boy reached you just as Heimerdinger was finishing his sentence.
- It's a pleasure to meet you Y/N, I've been hearing many good things about you. - Viktor smiled and extended his arm towards you in a theatrical gesture. To your surprise you couldn't tell if his smile was forced or genuine. You smiled back as convincingly as you could.
- The pleasure's mine - you said sweetly as you grabbed his hand for a handshake. To your surprise, he gently twisted it sideways and softly marked a kiss on the top of your hand. Your eyebrows flinched as you got taken back by such gesture. The cogs in your brain turned quickly as you were looking for ways to get out of such awkward situation.
- A bit old fashioned, aren't we? - you said softly while slowly taking back your hand.
- Quite the opposite - the boy smiled almost triumphantly - I think good manners are always in fashion. - the room was instantly filled with sharp, competitive tension. 'Fuck, he's smart' you thought to yourself and smiled sweetly in response to Viktors comment. 'This is going to be harder than I thought'.
