Jayce opened his mouth preparing to speak, fetching his journal from the depths of his bag with a semi-smug expression. Before he managed to put his questions into motion though, Viktors voice echoed softly throughout the room, his gaze focused on your mothers persona, which appeared way too small for the armchair she was sitting in.

,,Mrs Vilon, last night me and Y/N had encountered an interesting phenomenon while conducting our experiments. Throughout our research, we had never managed to expand the magical capabilities of hextech as much as we had yesterday. We had attributed this success to the Moonstone, as it appears to serve as a conduit for the mystical energy. When you gave this necklace to Y/N, were you aware of its magical abilities?"

,,Of course. I've been aware of them throughout my entire life!"

Your breath hitched just slightly and you swallowed the harsh truth, the idea od which occupying your mind for the entire morning. You felt your anxiety slowly bubble up, effectively filling the empty space in your stomach as your fists clenched. There were more secrets she had kept from you. How quaint.

,,But perhaps it is best if I simply start from the beginning... I come from the southern part of Shon-Xan region of Ionia, from a mountain town known as Vlonqo... My family was a part of a religious circle known as the 'Luna Kanmei' - The Spirit Moon.

It's an Ionian branch of a much stricter religious order located on Mount Targon called the Lunari. The Lunari worship both the physical and spiritual nature of the Moon, while we focused only on its spiritual side, the one that worked closely with the Spirit of Ionia, and allowed us to tap into its magical abilities.

My family were merely scholars, writing down our history and teaching it to younger worshippers. We posed no magical capabilities, as that honour was reserved only to our highest priests and priestesses. Our family had a different type of duty.

As one of few, we were chosen as the protectors and keepers of the Moonstone, preventing those of ill will from exploiting its properties. Unlike the Hextech Gems you posses, the stone itself holds no magical capabilities, only able to reflect and channel already existing ones. In hands of mortals it poses no threat, but to those able to control magic, it becomes powerful tool, much beyond our imagination. That's why it's been assigned to us, as we hold no such powers to be exploited.

When Noxus invaded the First Lands, our tribe had no means of protecting itself. Many of us had ran away, taking their most valued possessions and praying for safety of those who stayed and fought. We sailed through the sea, oftentimes attacked and assaulted by the Noxian military. Our ships were burned and people slaughtered. Many stones were lost in that time, most likely taken back to Noxus."

,,We are truly sorry for everyone you've lost and the damages your family and friends took."

Jayce spoke but your mom just waved it away with her hand, a soft smile not leaving her face.

,,Oh its been a long time ago... Theres no point in being sour about it any longer. It's a tragedy truly, but cursing out soldiers, who were merely following orders, won't bring all those lost lives back..."

,,Is there a way to acquire more of these stones?"

,,Not at the moment. The Moonstones come either from the fragments of the Moon, which had fallen to Runeterra long before any humans walked its soil, or through the blessing of the Aspect of the Moon. She's currently in hiding though, chased out by the opposing religious circle called the Solari. Noone knows how long the hiatus will last."
