-------

The door creaked as you stepped out of the lab. It was late, and even though you technically had already graduated, you didn't feel like staying up until morning. There was way too much shit occupying your mind, and perhaps sleep would free you at least of some of it. Viktor didn't protest either, enthusiastically agreeing that you should get some well deserved rest.

Your footsteps echoed around the hallway, sending chills down your spine. The walls seemed to almost grow taller, as if about to collapse onto your head any second. You sped up, the rhythmic tapping making you gasp for air anxiously. The world was spinning and if it wasn't for the sudden, much louder sound, bringing your head back to the ground, you probably would've collapsed onto the tiles in the middle of the corridor.

The door before you had opened and you instinctively hid behind the nearest corner, escaping the view of whoever was exiting the office. You recognised the room as Heimerdinger's, and you peaked carefully, trying to see whoever it was that the yordle was hosting. A slim yet fit figure crossed the doorstep, nodding politely towards the inside of the chamber. Marcus turned his gaze towards you and you quickly snapped to the back, letting shadows hide you from the enforcer's sight. A couple of seconds had passed, when you've finally heard a steadily receding sound of heavy, military boots. You've waited until his steps fully dispersed into the darkness, before quietly making your way in the direction the enforcer had gone.

You tried your best to minimise the noise you've made, but it didn't prove very useful, as the silence of the hallway greatly emphasised your breaths, not speaking of your steps. You felt your mind wander away again only to be interrupted by a strong grip pulling you into one of the corridors and throwing you deeper into the sidehall.

A bright light blinded you almost instantly, as you tried to regain your footing. You rose up while covering your eyes, trying to recognise whoever it was, that was pointing that damned thing at you. It wasn't until the person spoke, that you recognised his hostile voice.

,,Why are you following me?"

,,I'm not. The exit at the end of this hallway leads to the dormitories..."

You've said almost nonchalantly as your eyes finally adjusted to the bright light. You weren't really lying. The only thing you've cared about at that moment, was escaping the intrusive thoughts occupying your head. You could see Marcus's frustrated expression as he eyed you top to bottom, looking for any signs that could lead to you getting arrested.

,,Why did you hide then?"

You scoffed at the enforcer, almost letting out a short laugh.

,,With all due respect, but I simply didn't feel like answering any more of your questions Sheriff... My best friend is in the hospital and you've accused me and my partners of terrorism. I'd truly love to just end this long day on a quiet slumber. Now please, excuse me..."

Before you even finished your sentence you started making your way past the enforcer, however an arm shot out towards the wall, blocking your path. You furrowed your brows a little, however you did not let any signs of nervousness show. Afterall, that's all Marcus was waiting for. Some evidence, that could point to you being involved in all of this mess.
