,,I'm affraid I'll be forced to interrupt your morning my friends..."

Heimerdinger's sad gaze swept through the room as he spoke, analysing everyone's worried expressions. While he was examining everyone equally, councilor Medarda's sight was focused purely on you, her face unreadable. You swallowed anxiously, trying your best to remain collected and confident.

,,Due to yesterday's... Unfortunate events... The council has decided to convene an emergency session. As close acquaintances of Miss Boublé, your presence is requested as well."

,,The meeting starts in 10. Don't be late."

Councilor Medarda spoke to everyone present, but you somehow felt it being aimed at you specifically. After that, the woman left the room, the echo of her high heels filling the corridor with loud tapping. The dean looked after her hesitantly, seemingly a bit shocked by her reaction, as the fur at the top of his head rose up anxiously. He then sent you an apologetic nod, before quickly following after his colleague. The large wooden door closed behind the yordle with an earthshattering thud.

Overwhelming silence rung in your ears and you slowly looked around your friends, checking for their reaction to the sudden news. Jayce's eyebrows were deeply furrowed and his jaw was clenched, clearly upset by the whole situation. When you looked over towards Viktor though, you sunk into yourself a little, your stomach twisting into knots.

His breathing was highly irregular, and his expression reminded you of a pale mask. You slowly placed your hand on his shoulder and he jumped so abruptly, you flinched, taking your hand back to your chest. He turned towards you and muttered a quiet apology, his golden eyes focused on something present only in his mind. You placed your hand on his shoulder again and thankfully this time he didn't get startled.

,,We'll be fine... Yesterday you did more than enough to prove your innocence and Heimerdinger was there to witness it. They can't hold us accountable in any way."

You did your best to sound confident, yet it proved quire hard, as you weren't sure of your words yourself. The Piltovan Council was the literal embodiement of the law, consisting of the most influential people in the entire city. lf someone was to get away with an unfair accusation, it was them.

Viktor finally met your look and nodded, his gaze still absent. You looked back to Jayce who was watching the interaction between the two of you closely.

,,We should get going if we want to make it in time... "

The inventor said as he passed the cane through you to the boy on your right.

,,I don't know what's going to happen if we're late."

You looked around the Councillors chamber in awe, admiring the masterfully crafted ornaments decorating the marble walls. The room was in a shape of a cirlce, the large, round table marking it's middle perfectly. Viktor and Jayce had already been there on multiple occasions, however to you, it was something breathtaking. A glimpse into what your future might look like.

You broke out of your trance, the matters of today proving to be much more important than the ones of the future. You scanned the people already seated before you, digging out each Councillors name out of the back of your brain. You fastened your eye on the only person in the room, aside from you, Viktor and Jayce, who was standing, the man's shilouette outlined clearly across the bright, circular window. His hands were placed behind his back and his posture was impeccable.
Marcus.

'Shit... What is he doing here?'

You thought to yourself, trying to prevent your heart from racing. As you moved towards three chairs prepared for you, you caught a glimpse at the officer's expression. It was calm and unbothered, almost bored looking. His eyes were wary of his surroundings though, and his lips were pursed into a thin line. The three of you sat down, and you couldn't help but admire how comfortable the seats were, a very appriciated upgrate from what you had available at the lab.
