“Is that why you had that black eye,” Mitch pries thoughtfully.

“Sadly yes,” Eric shifts his legs, “Julie is my partner in the mission. Thankfully they haven’t figured that out yet. They think she’s a useless bystander.”

“We really don’t have much time,” Mitch sighs.

“It’s only a matter of time before they figure everything out,” Eric grinds his teeth.

“What about Hank and Kasey,” Mitch leans against the wall, “You know anything about them.”

“They were my informants,” Eric explains, “Luckily Verisal hasn’t figured that out yet either.”

“So CIA,” Mitch changes the subject as he thinks, “Sounds pretty hotshot.”

“Not for the faint hearted,” Eric chuckles, “So...what are you.”

“Just an actor,” Mitch laughs quietly.

The next morning I awake with a knot in my stomach. Mitch stirs from his sleep next to me and opens his dreamy grey eyes. My stomach twists and knots even more as I think of what’s going to happen today.

“Kate,” Mitch says softly as he sits up, “I’ll come back just fine.” I lower my eyes and stare at the concrete floor. Is there anyway we can reverse time? Go back to the good ol’ days on the island, where it was just the two of us. No problems, no threats, no pain.

“Tiger,” Mitch enfolds me in his arms and kisses my temple, “I want you to promise me something.”

“What,” I look at him intrigued.

“That you won’t worry,” he replies as his eyes search my face.

“I- can’t,” I shake my head as my eyes become watery.

“Please,” Mitch whispers, “I wouldn’t be able to deal with the thought of leaving you frantic and scared for me.”

            “Ok,” I nod reluctantly, “I won’t worry.”

“That’s my tiger,” Mitch’s face spreads into a handsome grin. I can’t help but smile back and my lips pull up into a shy smile.

“Guard change in five minutes,” Eric jumps up from his bed and begins to wake the others that are still sleeping.

“Wah,” Julie moans as she slowly pulls herself up from her blanket.

“Guard change,” Eric explains as he shakes her lightly to wake her up completely. Julie’s tired expression quickly changes to one of seriousness and she scoots to her feet and helps Eric wake Kasey and Hank. Once everyone is alert the tapping of feet walking down the hallway announces the beginning of the guard change. Eric and Mitch both hop to their feet and exchange somber looks.

“I’m sorry in advance for any major damage,” Mitch chuckles as he walks toward Eric.

“Same here,” Eric gives an amused grin.
