"Stop it," I laugh and accidently let out a snort. I look at Mitch in shock as my eyes widen.
"Wait for it," Mitch drags out 'it' and laughs at my facial expression, "Here comes the...blush," he says as my face heats up.
"Go away," I rub my cheeks in an attempt to remove the red. When I finally feel the heat calming down I stop rubbing and stare at an amused Mitch.
"Hold on," he chuckles as he leans closer and whispers in my ear, "I want to eat you alive," his breath fans my ear. In an instant the flaming begins again and I duck my head in embarrassment.
"You're such a jerk," I smack his arm as I begin rubbing my cheeks again.

The sun spreads a warm glow, like butter, across the porch as my sleepy eyes open. I blearily rub them as I sit up and let a ferocious yawn slip from my lips. Hold on, I pause and look around confusedly, oh no, I fell asleep. I turn around expecting Mitch to be awake, but to my surprise I find him sleeping soundly leaned against the porch pole.
"I love you," I whisper softly in his ear before removing his arms from around me and standing up. Before I go, I brush his thick hair back from his face and place a tender kiss on his forehead. He stirs slightly and mumbles something unintelligible before resting against the pole again. Maybe I should wake him up, I fold my hands together in thought, but he looks so peaceful. I chuckle remembering that's the exact same thing Mitch said to me.
"Morning," Kasey groggily walks out of the hut and onto the porch, "Ooh it's really bright out here," she shades her eyes.
"But it looks so beautiful," I sigh as I stare at the sunrise.
"Did you guys sleep out here," Kasey smiles as she gestures to Mitch.
"Yeah," my head snaps to him, "Should I wake him up," I bite my lip and stare at Kasey for advice.
"Nah," Kasey shakes her head as she gingerly walks down the steps, "Just let him wake up eventually," she suggests and stands at the bottom of the steps, "Hey you want to take a walk with me?"
"I don't want to leave him on the porch," I chew my lip hesitantly, "Can you help me drag him inside."
"Kate," Kasey laughs humored by my statement, "He'll be fine, c'mon," she gestures for me to follow her.
"Ok," I shuffle off the porch, glancing back a few times before following her down the path and into the nearby foliage. Once we enter the sounds of birds chirping morning songs, and the shuffling of morning animals looking for food fills our ears. I sigh completely content and stare up at the enormous trees above us.
"Just think," I blurt out as I glance at Kasey, "In a few days we'll be home."
"Last night I heard Mitch and Eric talking to Zyla before everyone hit the bunks," Kasey answers excitedly, "And the boat from the New Zealand fishermen comes tomorrow," she clasps her hands as her eyes glimmer with happiness.
