<<<[Chapter 14]>>>
(Recap)
“Kate don’t be crazy,” Mitch rolls his eyes, “C’mon to my hut.”
“No,” I say stubbornly and look away. Mitch lets out a loud, frustrated groan and grabs my arm nearly dragging me.
“Let me go,” I squeal as I snatch my arm away.
“Fine,” Mitch let’s go of me and turns around to face me. As he does so the rain starts pouring down even harder, the forceful rain making my body ache.
“Stay in this,” he replies as he turns around and walks off. I watch him go as his hair blows wildly in the wind and heave a sigh. The storm can’t last that long, maybe only a few hours. I think I handle that.
“Wait Mitch,” I call, “I’m coming,” I exhale as I drag my feet across the sand. God please let this storm be really, extremely, very, super short.

The rain beats down on both of us making me shiver in pain and due to the sting. Finally I can see Mitch’s hut and I breathe a sigh of relief. I think that this is the first time I’ve been glad to see it. It stands sturdily in the violent winds despite it’s fragile appearance, how did Mitch manage to keep his hut from blowing away? Mitch makes it to the little door and opens it up gesturing for me to go in first.
I roll my eyes and huff as I squat down and crawl through the entrance. Inside is bigger than it looks from the outside, Mitch can even sit comfortably without hitting his head on the ceiling. I realize my mouth has been hanging open and I quickly shut it. Mitch catches me, however, and throws me a haughty look.
“Now this is what a true shelter looks like,” he chuckles as he crosses his legs.
“Shut up Mitch,” I snap as I shove wet hair out of my face. Mitch smirks smugly and shifts in his seating position. We lapse into silence and I play with my hands nervously. It’s so awkward being in one space with him. I bite my lip and cast a glance at him. His eyes are closed and he’s leaning against the wall. Well at least he doesn’t think this is awkward. Suddenly one eye opens catching me looking at him.
“Checking me out eh,” Mitch cackles as he raises his eyebrows mockingly, “Like what you see,” he flexes.
“No I wasn’t and no I don’t,” I sputter quickly looking away as my face flushes red.
“Uh huh,” Mitch chuckles, “Whatever rocks your cradle,” he finishes as he closes his eyes again. I fume silently as I ball up my fists. How am I supposed to survive without strangling Mitch again? Eventually the anger wears away and I find myself tapping my foot in boredom.
“Mitch let’s play a game,” I suggest finally too bored to take it anymore.
“If you didn’t notice,” Mitch huffs as he cracks an eye open, “I was sleeping.”
“No you weren’t,” I retort as I roll my eyes in exasperation.
“How can you tell me I wasn’t sleeping,” Mitch asks in mock confusion.
