Fallon
Three weeks later.

It was MLK Day, and my students had gotten out early today. So I was finishing up some lesson plans so I could go home and sleep. There was a knock on my classroom door.
"Come in." I said never taking my eyes off the lesson plans.
"Hey." I looked up and contemplated being rude. But decided against it.
"Hi Landon." I spoke going back to my lesson.
"Got anything planned for the holiday?" He asked.
"Finishing up these lesson plans, may grade a few papers."
"I mean not school related. Since the kids got out early and all." He said.
"Oh no I was planning on going home." I said.
"Wanna grab lunch?" He asked. Looking at him I shook my head no.
"We really shouldn't." I said.
"As just friends Fallon. I'm not going to try you. I just miss your conversation." He said.
"And I text you back when you text me. But lunch is a stretch." I said.
"It's on me." He said. Looking at him clearly he wasn't going to give up. And he was going to treat regardless because he invited me.
"Fine. Let me grab my things." I said. And he smiled.

Grabbing my phone I checked it to make sure Rylan hadn't text me, which he hadn't. And grabbed my keys and jacket as we headed out the door. Locking my classroom behind me, I followed Landon down the hall.
"I'm happy you letting me take you to lunch because I really missed you." He said.
"Interesting." I said once we got outside.
"Where you wanna meet at?" He asked.
"Turkey Leg Hut." I said.
"Bet." He said as we went separate ways to our cars.

Getting in mine I locked the door. Hitting the call back on the first icon saved to my car.

Rylan 🔐🖤

But to my surprise it went straight to voicemail. To make sure I wasn't tripping I called again. And it did the same thing. Here I was giving him a call to let him know about my outing and he had his phone off. That simply meant he could not be mad when I told him about it later.

Listening to the radio, I traveled along the interstate. Before eventually pulling up to Turkey Leg Hut. Getting out Landon met me by my car admiring it.
"A Bentley? You doing it big now ain't it." He said.
"It's a long story." I said. As we headed in the building.
"How many in your party?" The host asked.
"Just us two." I spoke.
"Inside or patio seating?"
"Oooh patio." I said excitedly. It was a beautiful day and there was really alot of people here. Guess everybody had the same idea to come here for the holiday. Taking our seats we browsed the menu.

"So I gotta know about this Bentley. Cus that shit fire Fal." He said.
"It was a gift." I said.
"Someone gifted you a Bentley. That nigga must be in love." He said.
"How you know it's a nigga?"
"Cus I know you."

"Hi my name is Tara and I'll be taking care of y'all today. What can I get you started to drink?" She asked.
"I'm starving, can we order everything?" I asked. And he nodded.
"Okay I'll have a Pellegrino, with a lime. The Hennessy glazed turkey leg with a side of crawfish mac and cheese." I ordered as she wrote everything down.
"And for you sir?" She asked.
"I'll take a glass of your house Chardonnay. And The Turkey stuffed baked potatoe." He ordered.
Walking away we returned to our conversation.
"And what do you mean by you know me?" I asked.
"You always have a nigga or a few to choose from." Landon said.
"I could say the same about you Landon."
"Touché." He said laughing.
"So what's up? Why did you urgently need to have lunch with me?" I asked as our server brought our drinks before walking away again.
"To apologize. I did try and play you. I wanted my cake and eat it too. Amber was someone from my past who came back in my life when you and I were talking. She has a soft spot in my heart. And I couldn't just let her go. I should have just let you know that instead of dragging you along." He said and he had no idea how much I understood. But I didn't feel it was necessary to share the details of my messy life so I just nodded listening.
"Me and Amber actually got in a relationship. I felt I owed her that, just like I owed you an apology and an explanation."
"Well I sincerely appreciate that Landon."
"Now tell me about Mr. Bentley."
"Hm let's see, he also bought me a house, and a promise ring, and has my name tatted. And I've known him since I was fifteen." I said smiling.
"Wow. You damn near married then."
"Slow down. We definitely are not there yet." I said just as our food arrived.
"Ooh this looks so good." I said looking at my food then back at Landon. Only this time looking up my appetite had suddenly disappeared at who sat not that far from me. And clearly he had noticed me also because disappointment was evident in his face.
