Rylan
Quintana Roo, Mexico"Deja de mirarme. Pongámonos a trabajar." She said in Spanish to us.
"What?" I asked.
"Ellas no hanlan español." Fabe said.
"What the fuck?" Rico said.
"I said stop staring, let's get to work." She said her accent thick. "And he said y'all don't speak Spanish." She added. Flipping her hair she began to walk away."Bruh what the fuck? She thicker than a bowl of grits." Rico said.
"And beautiful as fuck. How am I supposed to make Fallon feel comfortable with her working with us?" I asked.
"Uh here's a suggestion, don't fuck her." Fabian said as we followed behind her. Shaking my head this felt like a disaster in the making.
Sitting around a table she took a champagne flute and poured out four.
"Fellas I am here to make money, business, and connections. Although we don't know each other very well I hope that we can come together and become a strong team. That is the only way that this will work." She said.
"I'm bout the money." I said.
"And I'm about the motherfucking business." Fabian said.
"Well then salute." She said holding up her glass.
"Salute." We all said.
"Tell us about you." Rico said.
"Well I am Isabella Ameri Escobar. I am 25. And that is all you need to know." She said smiling before her eyes rested on me. "Tell me about you." She said looking directly at me before her gaze returned to Rico.
"You just have to learn me as you go. But I'm Rico." He introduced.
"And you?" She asked looking right at me. "Must be Rylan." She said the R rolling off her tongue.
"Yeah that's me." I said.
"So what's your specialty Bella?" Rico asked already giving her a nick name. This the nigga we needed to tell not to fuck her.
"I am just a business woman but I want to be a sniper." She said smiling. Shaking my head.
"That's not going to work." I said. That was my job.
"And why not?" She asked with arched eyebrows.
"That position has already been filled." I said.
"I've done my research Rylan, I think we would make a great team." She said licking her bottom lip.
"As a matter of fact y'all need to get acquainted quickly, because we gotta go pick up this product." Fabian said. As he stood to his feet. Shaking my head I didn't like this shit one bit.
"Rico you with me, and Bella you're with Rylan. You know how we do shit Ry. Don't let her get you off your game." He said. Nodding we went separate ways, Isabella following close behind.
"What made you want to be a sniper?" She asked.
"I didn't want to be this shit. It just happened that way." I said not even looking at her.
"I researched you. You only had one sloppy kill in all your time as a sniper. And you were sixteen. Leaving you with 809 record." She said. That number made me cringe. Hearing it out loud made me feel like a bad person. But it was my job. It was my job with Fabe and it was my side hustle.
"So you read about me? Congratulations. That's not me anymore, I'm a different person now that I've been to jail." I said honestly. More than half of those bodies I got before I ever went to jail. The only reason Rome was so sloppy is because I was emotional. I didn't stop and plan, I just did the shit. He hurt me and he didn't even know me. He had to suffer. I knew the consequences."Oh trust me I know. But I also know about the work you did while you were in." She said and I nodded not wanting to discuss it further.
"So are you ready to be a team?" She asked me.
"Honestly no, but what options do I have here? It's money to be made. And I'm just tryna get back home." I said once we climbed in the elevator, hitting roof. Adjusting my book bag. She looked at me.
"You must have a family at home in the states or something? A wife and kids?" She asked as the elevator dinged.
"I thought you did your research?" I asked avoiding her question.
"In the life of a hit man some things are better hidden. Trust me I know." She said once we got to the roof.
"Sound like you the one with wife and kids." I said laughing.
"I had a husband, he was killed five years ago. Now I have a son Canyon. He's is my pride and joy." She smiling. "And I want a better life for him than what the cartel has to offer. That's why I've partnered with you guys." She said. Nodding, I respected that.
"No wife. And definitely no kids." I said.
"But you seem anxious to get home." She said.
"I have somebody. But I want her as far away from this life as physically possible. Before I can make her a wife or a mother I want to be done with this, and right now that's not looking like the near future." I said as I set up my guns on the roof."You may not be ready to make her those things now. But you can still prepare. So that way the future doesn't seem so far away." She said. And I nodded. Not wanting to think about Fallon right now I cut on my walkie talkie to drown out my thoughts.
"You set up?" Rico asked into the speaker.
"We're good." I said.
"Focus." Fabian said. "I'm tryna get in and out with no blood on my hands."
"Heard you." I said.
