"I suppose I must resign early."

You gazed at the surprised faces of the acting grandmaster and the cavalry captain who stood before you. With one hand on his chin and the other folded, Kaeya looked at you with concern.

"So you're saying that you need to leave with Aether because of the Fatui?" Kaeya asked and you nodded solemnly. "Are you sure the knights can't help you? I wouldn't mind being a personal guard." A smirk was stretched out upon his face. You couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at the captain's efforts to cheer you up.

"Thank you, Kaeya, but I must go to Liyue. Don't worry, I will return after my mission." You reassured the captain which in fact was no use as he continued to pry.

"The Knights are more than capable when dealing with a harbinger—"

"Kaeya," Jean interrupted, rousing from her seat behind the wooden desk. "If (Y/N) must go, we have to let her." For the first time, you could hear the hesitancy within the Grand Master's voice, it was subtle yet noticeable.

Kaeya reluctantly agreed, shutting himself up before saying something he would regret. Before you could speak once more, the door slammed open with a thundering bang that made you nearly jump five feet into the air.

It was Albedo, a very exhausted Albedo. Beads of sweat ran down his forehead and he tried to capture a breath. The two Knights only looked at the chief alchemist with confusion clouding their judgements. "Grand Master," Albedo sharply breathed in, composing himself to seem more professional. "there is something I need you to see."

"What is that, Mr Albedo?"

Dragged along to the lush green fields of Windrise, you were face to face with a device of unknown origin and odd designs. The device was small, yet able to fit into the palm of your hand if you held it.

"I believe it to be some kind of a Fatui interference or a bomb." The alchemist said bluntly, causing your anxiety to skyrocket and the suspicions that the Knights held to grow. In all honesty, you had never seen the device before. It was tubular, and a faint purple mist surrounded the outside like clouds that circled the peak of a mountain.

"We need to take every precaution. (Y/N)," Jean grabbed your attention, gazing at you with stern eyes. "I suggest you delay your trip to Liyue for now."

"But—"

"No 'buts', if this is what I think it is, we are in trouble. The last thing we need is anyone hurt." Jean commanded, her authority a tad frightening. You had to agree with the Grand Master, you also didn't want to be under suspicion as well if this device was really related to the Fatui. Kaeya seemed to be quite pleased as a cheeky smirk graced his lips.
