Beyond, you could see the trees and their orange-tipped leaves undulating as the wind blew west. You weren't in your Liyue apartment, you were somewhere more familiar. Light flooded through the shoji screen and onto your frame, your legs tucked beneath your thighs as a woman combed through the (H/C) locks that fell from your head. With hands tracing the plush tatami mats below, you felt the fabric of a kimono sway around your arm. You were far from Liyue.
The woman who brushed your hair sang a sweet song, one that you knew was her favourite. For some odd reason you didn't bother to stress about how you ended up back in the Yukaku, instead, you relished the moment of serenity and found comfort in the words Mizuki sung so softly.
Daisy, oh daisy, where have you gone?...
Winter has come, and my, I long...
"This is a dream, isn't it?" You asked, turning your head to face the grand Tayū.
"Quite so, my dear." Mizuki discontinued her singing to respond, now separating your hair to braid.
Come home, little daisy...
Oh, how I miss you so...
"I think I would like to stay here."
Mizuki chuckled, her rich and melodic voice filling your heart with joy. Oh, how you would repay anything to hear it more. As Mizuki finished braiding, she spun you around to face her and cupped your cheeks.
"Your purposes greatly outweigh your desires, (Y/N). You were never meant to stay here, even I knew that." Stated Mizuki, brushing her dainty fingers over your faintly blushed skin. You stared into her chocolate eyes, becoming lost in the golden brown hue.
"What do you mean, Mizuki?" You were desperate now, clenching onto Mizuki's floral silk kimono. Mizuki didn't respond, she only smiled, dimples forming upon her pale cheeks.
"Mizuki?" You called, wondering why she only smiled at you.
Before you could place a hand on her arm, Mizuki began to fade, everything from the shoji to the trees outside began to dissipate. Slowly, the face you adored crumbled, her smile the only thing left before that too became one with the wind.
"Mama?" You called throughout the darkness, there was no response.
"Mizuki!" Once again, there was no response, only darkness stretching farther than the eye could see.
Your shoulders slumped and your head hung low, of course, this wasn't real. You shouldn't have gotten your hopes up.
Your eyes opened as light pierced through the window, lifting a hand, you felt the wet trail of a tear on the side of your face. It was so surreal, you wanted it to be real. Sighing, you understood that those days were long gone, and instead focused on the day ahead.
