Your eyes twitched at the feeling of something tickling your face. As you went to brush the annoyance away, it only returned to bother you further. That was when you decided to open your eyes.
Leaping back into the headboard, you sharply gasped at the sight in front of you. Childe's wide eyes bore into your soul and his face held no emotion. Disturbingly so, his face was protruding into your personal bubble, so close to your face that you could feel his breath on your skin.
"Mother of mochi!" You exclaimed, placing a hand over your racing heart. "You frightened me!"
Childe only laughed mischievously, seeming to relish the sight of your scared expression. Wiping a tear from his eye, Childe finally spoke. "You never cease to amuse me, (Y/N)." He sighed after another fit of giggles.
"Come on, today is the Rite of Descension! Hurry up and get ready!"
You suddenly had the urge to slice the harbinger's arm cleanly off as he projected clothes that met with your face, knocking you back as the heavy fabric collided against your noggin. Before you could even yell at the auburn-haired twat, he had already scurried off into his own room. You never truly knew why he was this chaotic and you thought it was best you didn't find out.
Once you had actually managed to get out of bed and fully opened your eyes, you inspected the garments that had been 'generously' given to you by Childe. You had to sprawl the contents across the bed because it included so many parts but alas, the final sight was stunning.
It was your kimono, although heavily altered with the Inazuman fabric you had bought from the seamstress back in Monstadt. You dare ask why and how he acquired the fabric in the first place yet you were too excited to ponder on that thought.
Dressing within all the layers and making sure your obi was on correctly, you found that there was a little hook that conveniently held the precious temari ball so it wouldn't be lost anytime soon. Strutting up to the duchess, you couldn't help but strike a few poses in your new fit, also admitting that Childe actually did have a sense of fashion. For once, you felt like you were really ready to face the day ahead.
Childe was waiting outside your door, and by the time you had exited, he was inspecting you from head to toe. A crimson blush fell upon your face as you nervously rubbed your bare shoulder. "Did... you request for the alteration?"
"Mhm, and I'm glad I did." Childe grinned, his smile so bright and pure you were nearly blinded. This man's moods changed more than the weather. "Let's get going, The Rite of Descension is drawing near."
You only hummed in acknowledgement as the harbinger began to stroll out of the sleeping quarters with you trailing behind him. Once outside, you could already hear the yells of merchants and civilians, all preparing for the descent of the mighty Geo Archon. The streets were elegantly decorated with offerings and charms of good fortune, alas, you couldn't help but feel that this event was not going to run as smoothly as planned.
