You stared at the man for too long, it was inappropriate.
"Do you know Mr Zhongli, (Y/N)?" Childe asked, snapping you out of your thoughts.
"I-I don't believe I do." You replied, facing Childe and bringing a hand to your forehead as you tried to dig through all your memories.
"A pleasure, Ms Otsuko. I head you shall be working with Tartaglia over here." Zhongli spoke, his voice raspy and so mellow it oddly sent a comforting feeling throughout your body.
"Tartaglia?"
"That's my other name, (Y/N)." Childe chuckled, combing a finger through his auburn hair.
'How many names does that boy have?'
The silence once more settled, so thick it could choke you at any moment. Chongyun had departed and left you with the two men, you couldn't be any more nervous. You gazed at Zhongli again, this time his arms were folded over his chest and his eyes were closed, allowing you to notice how peaceful and serene his aura truly was. You desired to inspect the man longer, yet Childe was the one to cut through the silence like a knife through flesh.
"Well, Mr Zhongli, we will meet you here tomorrow morning to discuss our options further," Childe announced, to which Zhongli agreed by humming in response. "This little lady needs her rest or else she'll be grumpy!"
"Excuse me!? I am not your child neither a 'little lady'!" Your cheeks burned as you protested Childe's comment. How dare he humiliate you!
Surprisingly, Zhongli only let out a small chuckle, looking at you with a fondness that made your cheeks light up further. "Goodnight, harbingers. I look forward to tomorrow morning."
"Right! C'mon, (Y/N)." Childe waved to Zhongli, soon bringing his hand down to capture yours.
He didn't have to hold your hand, you could have just followed him. Yet, here you were, letting him drag you around as if you were his pet. It left a bitter feeling of defeat within your stomach albeit, you tried to deny or recognise the warmth that it set alight within you. So infuriating.
Childe had led you through a labyrinth of pathways and staircases, all still bustling even though it was growing later by the minute. The rumours were true, Liyue never slept. After climbing another staircase, you were led across a bridge and soon stood before a bank of some kind. The odd thing was that two Fatui guards were in place outside the double door. The Fatui members bowed their heads as Childe led you through the doorway, it all felt so wrong.
The inside of the bank was massive, no, massive was an understatement, it was gargantuan. There was so much bling and sparkle you ought to go blind. Gold embellishments were chiselled onto the face of huge mahogany pillars which also included traditional paintings on the sides. The cherries on top? The oversized golden counter. Childe obviously saw your dazzled expression as he grabbed your shoulders, directing you another way.
