"Welcome back, sir, madam. You honour us with your patronage."

A middle-aged man with circular spectacles welcomed you and Childe, Aether trailing behind with Paimon by his side. The sun shone brightly and blessed Liyue with its warm rays of light, yet you failed to notice the beauty of today due to nerves nibbling away at your mind.

"Mr Zhongli is awaiting your arrival in the room you booked." Both the man and woman by the door made sure to emphasize your arrival, presenting the mahogany door that led to a tearoom that held a very important person, or rather, god. Yes, Childe had informed you of the confusing situation.

Walking into the restaurant, you could see the dignified Zhongli preparing and pouring himself some tea into a china cup, relishing the scent of the Fengqing tea leaves. Noticing the group that had entered, Zhongli motioned for all to be seated.

Even though you had been in the presence of Zhongli before, you couldn't help but feel his gaze, especially on you. Childe seemed to notice as to when you went to the seat next to Zhongli, he quickly grabbed your wrist and yanked you back. That cocky bastard was smiling like he had done no such thing.

"Allow me to introduce Mr— Ow!" You kicked Childe in the shin beneath the table, to which you only smiled innocently at Zhongli and Aether's confused faces. Clearing his throat, Childe spoke again after sending you a malicious scowl. "As I was saying, Mr Zhongli, consultant to an organisation known as Wangsheng... and trusted associate of the Fatui."

"Associate of the Fatui?" Aether questioned, yet you were too busy eyeballing the food in front of you to notice.

"Indeed. Wangsheng's line of work can be... sensitive at times. Let's just say they understand when discretion is needed." Childe explained. "And we, the Fatui, have always been glad to do business with friends who walk in the shadows."

"Yes, illegal businesses as well." You piped in, unannounced.

"W—Walk in the shadows? Illegal?!" Paimon whimpered, rushing to find security within your embrace. "You don't do stuff like that, do you, (Y/N)?"

"Heaven's no, Paimon. Although, I'm sure Childe has participated in such activities."

Paimon sent the harbinger a nasty glare as she snuggled into your chest. You never thought that getting back at Childe would be this amusing. Childe looked away as if nothing had occurred and continued his conversation.

"It is an honour to meet you. I have heard tell of you from Monstadt." Zhongli said, grabbing the attention of Aether and Paimon both.

Your mind was quick to daydream as the conversation did not involve you nor capture your interest. Zhongli, Childe, as well as the travelling duo, were discussing the situation and its nitty-gritty details after all. You thought back to the young master, Xingqiu and his friend Chongyun's tale of the Yueliang Adeptus. You always found yourself wondering if that story was related to you and your origins. It was so... frustrating.
