The sun had long fleeted beneath the mountains of Teyvat, the moon soon taking its rightful place within the night sky. Tonight, it was cold, colder than usual. While the townspeople of Monstadt were too occupied in the current sales and seasonal merchandise being distributed.

You too were occupied, in a different way. A boring way. The Favonious headquarters needed you to take up the job of a receptionist on this bustling night when anything was bound to take a twist. The celebrations you so desired to take part in would have to wait till next year.

Flipping through countless pages of complaints and issues, you could hear the laughter and joyous voices of those outside cut through the silence of the empty hall where you resided. It was fine, you convinced yourself. Who would want to go with you to enjoy the festivities anyways?

Before you could jot down another signature and press down a stamp, you heard little footsteps approaching your desk. Usually, you wouldn't be able to hear them due to the hustle of the knights, but since they were out patrolling the city or enjoying themselves, that left only you to be enveloped by silence, able to hear every little skitter of a mouse within the walls or the twinging of wood.

Peeking over the edge of the polished wooden surface, you saw a little girl dressed in all red. Her hair was golden and her crimson eyes gazed at you with childlike innocence.

"Hi miss," She spoke, her voice already pulling your heartstrings. "How come you are not celebrating? Where is your family?"

Family... Where were they? The question popped into your head as the young maiden queried. You were just as clueless as her.

"I'm sorry, dear, I have to work tonight. Shouldn't you be outside celebrating instead?" You asked. The child seemed to become even more disappointed with your answer as her shoulders drooped and her smile was replaced with a frown.

"Big brother Albedo is too busy, and everyone else is drinking too much." The girl's features suddenly lit up and she bounced on her tippy-toes, "which is why you must take me to the festival!"

You gazed back at the girl with uncertainty, she too looking back with untamed excitement. Oh, how you would love to stroll around Monstadt hand-in-hand with this little angel, alas, leaving your post would probably mean the end of your good reputation with the knights.

"I... wish I could but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to leave just—"

"You have to! I always see you working and you never rest!" The young child chided. "We're going to miss everything! Please? Pretty pleaseeeee?" The pupils within her pure red eyes seemed to grow larger as she pleaded, squirming in place to add to her persuasion. How could you say no now?
