Chapter Eighty Six

One week and three days before Christmas, Daria was told by Sam that the pack was helping the Cullens with a possible battle between them and the Volturi. Sam said the Volturi was practically a vampire government, which Daria found a bit stupid, but it was also smart, since it would keep all the bad vampires away. Well, it supposedly keeps away bad vampires, but obviously she and the Volturi have different definitions of bad vampires. When Daria found out that Sam and the pack were working with the Cullens, she was completely pissed off.

"You can't be serious, Sam!" Daria exclaimed, as she crossed her arms.

"If we don't help them, the Volturi could hurt so many humans around Forks and La Push. I can't let something like that happen, when I know I could've prevented it." Sam said, making Daria frown.

Sam had been right, but that didn't stop her from being angry that he was literally putting himself and the pack in a life or death situation. She heard about Jacob's injury from the last time the pack helped the Cullens, so she refused to believe it was in any way a good idea for the pack to help them again. To Daria, she almost didn't care if all of the Cullens were taken out by the Volturi, if it wasn't for the fact that she would hate herself for wishing such a thing on a child.

Renesme Cullen was the daughter of Bella and Edward Cullen, and the imprint of Jacob Black. Daria wasn't a fan of the blood suckers in Forks, but she didn't completely hate Renesme. Renesme was innocent, even if she was part blood sucker, she didn't choose it, she was born into it. Apparently the Volturi wanted to take out the Cullens because they believed Renesme was an immortal child. Sam didn't know much, but he did know immortal children were turned and not born, which meant they stayed that age forever, instead of getting older like the halfling.

"If you do this, you better promise me that you and the pack will come back to me, to James, and Dora without any injuries. If one of you are hurt or worse--I can't even think about that, but if anything happens to any of you, the Volturi will be the least of the Cullens' problems." Daria spat, causing Sam to sigh.

Sam found Daria's protectiveness hot, and when she threatened the Cullens, he found himself becoming a bit turned on. He understood where she was coming at though, which didn't make him feel any better about going out to join a battle that really wasn't much of the pack's problem. If it wasn't for the humans that were in danger, he wouldn't even be considering becoming a part of a battle such as this one. The people he wanted to protect most was his children and fiance though, so even if Daria was mad at him, he was going to be joining the battle to protect his family.

"I can't promise there won't be any injuries, but I will try my hardest to come back to you, and I will make sure the pack comes back, too. None of us are going to die in that battle, not if I can help it." Sam said, grabbing Daria's hands and holding them in his.

He watched as tears came to Daria's eyes, causing him to pull the girl into his chest, wrapping his arms tightly around the girl's body. She cried into his chest; terrified that the love of her life was going to die in a battle caused by some blood sucking creeps in Forks, Washington. If she could, she would've kicked the entire family out of Forks as soon as Bella gave birth to her halfling. The Cullens caused way too many problems for the small Washington town and everywhere around them.

"It'll be alright, Darling. The battle will be over before you know it, and everything will be back to normal." Sam said, making Daria sigh shakily.

"It doesn't help that Charlie Swan now knows about Jacob's shapeshifting. More and more problems are coming to bay." She murmured, and he nodded.

"I know, but it'll get better, I'm sure of it." He replied, kissing the top of the girl's head.

"We can't tell Dora anything. She'll get upset. I don't want to upset her." Daria said, and Sam agreed.

Sam knew Nymphadora would cry if she knew he or one of the pack could get hurt when they left. Nymphadora loved her father and adored the entire pack, so she wouldn't be happy if they left and got hurt. Thinking of Nymphadora being so upset almost made Sam change his mind, but he had to do what was right, even if it felt wrong and he didn't like doing it.

"I love you, Darling. As soon as all of this is over, you and I are going to get married and finally be the happy family we always wanted to be; more so than we already are." He said, causing the girl to smile sadly.

"I love you, too, Sam. The wedding sounds like a good deal to me. I like the idea of finally getting married and being a happy family." She replied, knowing he was trying to cheer her up.

Daria hadn't rushed the wedding, since she was content being engaged for the time being. Now that Sam was practically going to war though, Daria almost wished she could drag him to a place and get married right at that moment. She didn't want to miss the chance of marrying the man she loved because of the blood suckers in Forks. If they caused her more problems, she would absolutely be their worst nightmare.

Daria wasn't scared of many things, but losing someone she loved scared the hell out of her. One way or another she would protect her family, even if that meant she'd have to hurt someone else. She was ready to hurt anyone just to keep her family safe, alive, and together...
