There was a ring from the entrance door and when we reached the bottom of the stairs Mikey with his quick speed, beat us to the door. At the other side stood a handsome tall man who was dressed in a long coat, white jumper and red jeans, he had brown hair like my Mom's and light blue eyes but there were some dark circles around them as if he hadn't been getting much sleep for so long but there's a little hope of twinkle in them. When he met my eyes for the first time, he paused a little with confusion until his eyes widened and small tear slipped from his eye.
He walks up to me gesturing his hands with a small smile, "You must be Lola, you must be my little sisters daughter."
I shook it, "And you must be my Uncle Alex."
"Yeah, that's right." He nodded, sadness showing in his eyes, "I'm sorry about your loss, it also saddens me losing my sister."
"You didn't know?" I meet him in the eyes.
He takes a deep breath, "I didn't know my sister had a daughter but I'm so sorry for keeping my distance from you especially when my niece doesn't have any family but me left."
"It's OK, I understand after I heard about your wife and I'm sorry you lost her too." I say after catching my breath. It's a lot to take in especially when he looks similar to my mother.
I let go and gestured my hands towards my bird sitting on my shoulder, "And this is my Parrot Chico."
When he meets his eyes he calms down petting hits beak, "You know you are like your Mom, she had a grey parrot."
"You mean Joey?" He met my eyes again, "He was my friend too, he learned to sing Incy Wincy Spider from my Mom, we played games like Hide n Seek."
His face saddens again until footsteps from upstairs comes running down towards Uncle Alex, Ace gave him a hug making him laugh.
"Ace my boy, look at how much you grown?" He chuckles down at him.
"I know Uncle it's been years since the last I saw you." He says looking him in the eye.
June walks up to him too, wrapping him in a hug, "Oh Uncle Alex, I've missed you so much, why did you ignore us all these years?"
He releases her, his mood darkens looking at me making me feel scared, June was right, why did he ignore his friends and family especially his only sister who has just passed away without him knowing. I know it's not his fault but now I am starting to feel anger boiling in me.
Chico senses my anger, looking a little scared but rubbed his head on my neck in to a comfort hug letting the fire burning in me go out.
I whisper, "Thanks Chico, sorry for scaring you. "
Mikey coughs interrupting us, "Come on, now let's get settled in the living room."
Once everyone settled in the living room, the other adults Sarah, Clare and Donny were already there hugging Uncle Alex. I looked at everyone, Sarah, wearing a knee length red flare dress with green leaf, red high heels and a green diamond necklace, her hair was pinned into a bun and covered in make up and red skippers. Clare was wearing the same but in a blue colour, wow they both look gorgeous like real sisters.
"Wow, you both look dazzling!" I commented.
"Why? thank you." Sarah says with a bright smile, then looks at me up and down, "You look cute in that outfit just like your mother."
Just like my mother, I thought. Just imagine if Mom and Dad were here than everything would be OK. I shook my head stopping self from thinking about the past.
Donny was dressed in a white and blue sleeve cardigan and jeans with normal shoes. Ace wore a yellow cardigan with a Nike logo on the shoulders, green jeans and normal shoes. Finally their Dad wore a navy blue onesie with an image of Rudolph the red nose reindeer.
