After lunch, Chico sat on my shoulder by the window where we were sitting on the sill. We were waiting for the tree to come which was hidden safely in the garage. Ace, who joined us, told me they've had the same tree for years and too my suprise it was still alive, well and cared.
We waited for Mikey and Donny to bring the tree inside the house. Since it was their job, theyr bigger boys than Ace is to carry a huge tree.
"So where are we going to place the tree?" I asked Ace who was as giddy as me to have his face pressed against the glass. If a stranger walked past the house and saw this, they'd think he's nuts. But if it was a kid, then he'd be a laughing stock.
He moved away from the window to reply, "Well here and we've got smaller trees to put in other rooms." He thought for a moment and suddenly his eyes spark up like a twinkle, " Hey, do you want to help me get the decorations?"
"Why wouldn't I want to, of course!" I said, feeling excited enough to fist bump the air, "I've always wanted to since forever."
Ace frowned, "You've never decorated a tree."
I shook my head sadly, "No, most of the times I just kept to myself."
"You're not very social, are you?" He asked, looking at me in concern, "That's just sad."
I shrugged, "I'm used to it."
"How can you stand it?" He questions me, "I mean don't you ever feel lonely and not having any friends."
I shot my eyebrows at him, " I do now, you guys are and so is Chico."
Ace gobs smacked himself, "Never mind, let's just get the decorations."
Sarah wanted to give us a helping hand. They said, they kept the decorations upstairs where it's safe.
We went up the stairs to their pantry room that's under the stairs to my attic room where you can find extra supplied, cleaning tools, tooth paste boxes and other useful stuff for house stuff. Ace and Sarah moved some boxes aside so that we can reach the boxes which contains the Christmas decorations of baubles, lights, fluffy ribbons, small gift boxes and a shiny gold star with glitters.
"Here Lola." Ace handed me a box but it was quite heavy but not heavy enough to make me fall down, "and be careful with them, they are quite expensive."
I gave him shy a glance, before nodding. Then both Sarah and her son carried a box each. We had to take them down carefully. I had to keep my balance because I nearly trembled but I made it down and took them into the living room. And finally the tree had arrived.
"Wow." I whispered to myself, " it's huge and healthy!"
Chico squawks," I know. "
I gently place the box on the table because my arms are starting to feel exhausted. I stood there marvelling at the tree like it was a celebrity.
I was startled when I felt a thug on my ankle. I looked down at Dizzy in her hamster ball. For some good reason my heart seems to be fluttering in circles from all the great things I've been through.
"Hey Dizzy, want to look at the tree." She squeaks in as if she's saying ' pick me up I want to see. " making me laugh. So I pick her up in the ball with my hands, when she looks at the tree she squeaks with excitement, " we still need to decorate it. " I told her, " but you can watch if you want with Chico."
Chico squawks with agreement. I place Dizzy on the table where she can watch and Chico flew to join her sitting on the edge of table. Those two have become friends since we moved in from the orphanage.
