Why is it so hard dressing up for parties?

Looking at the wardrobe hardly, trying to decide which outfit to wear, I say on my bed stareing, making decision but so far there is non. I have quite simple outfits really but then again they are pretty well designed in their own way. I could wear the dress Clare and June gave me but then again I thought against it. I'd rather wear something comfortable and now eyecatching.

Chico sat on the bed board grooming his feathers while I look at each outfit with keen eyes, until I just picked out a random one. Black long shirt with thick green v-neck line and green sleeves, dark blue jeans and classic green converse. I still had my clockwork pendent and blue scarf wrapped around my neck. That's fine anyway but then who cares, this is just to get together and spend the night with my friends. Just spending my last few moments before I leave for New England.

I look at the reflection of myself in the mirror, that shows you an image of a young girl starring at me, with short ginger hair and light blue eyes. Young and innocent but not sad. My mouth is turned up into a smile while my eyes aren't.

"What do you think Chico?" He stopped grooming for a while eyeing me up and down.

He squawks, "Pretty, pretty."

I chuckle, I gesture my arm towards him for him to sit on. Once he sat on my arm, I stroked his head gently enjoying the soft feeling of his feathers. He has no idea but I can't wait to bring him along.

I sat on the window sill to look out, so far just cars driving and people walking by. Then again it's just a nice night with glowing stars above the clouds.i could just stay like this forever and day dream.

From the living room I can hear music and young voices talking, the guests have already arrived but I didn't expect many voices to be heard from downstairs. I wonder if Ace accidentally invited a stranger who might want to eat you alive, nah he wouldn't do that, would he?

"Chico, why don't you stay here, music could be loud and I'll bring you some snacks?" I told him.

He went to sleep on the bed board while I headed down the stairs to join them. The first thing that hits me was the sound of music and smell of mouthwatering food, coming from the living room, which we planned to make that I wanted to eat them already. Food always makes me hungry.

I followed it inside the living room to find a lot more people then I expected. What is this? It's a moving away party not someone's birthday.

Never mind at least I can still have fun. From the corner a familiar face caught my eye, he wore a long red short sleeves top and black jeans. I recognized him straight away as James's best friend, Tom. I walk straight up to him as he catches my eyes. It's like we have grown closer since our friend died and I'm glad because there is someone I can share the memories of him with. Someone who has known him longer as I did.

"Hi Lola, did you guys invite me and these other kids to this party?" He asks me with a smile spread on his face.

"Yeah actually this is a moving party." I say trying to see his reaction.

He was surprised, "What you're leaving? Since when?"

I told him I had about my long-lost uncle at New England and I also told him I'm going to start a new life because New England was also where my mom lived before she married my dad.

"Oh, I mean that's great." he says gripping my shoulder lightly giving it a gentle squeeze, "I'm going to miss you little buddy." He then said, "If your going to the new school just be careful who you make friends with OK."

"Right." I went to find the food table where you could find all sorts of food, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, biscuits, cookies and drinks like fruit punch or smoothies. They all look tasty making me want to grab them, eat everything but that's impossible because it's too much.
