Once I reached home, I was surprised to see James waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs leaning, smiling at me excitedly. Strange, I wonder what had gotten him to be so cheerful after school. And I thought he said he would be playing soccer with his friends, or working at McDonald's.

I asked nervously, "Hey James, what's with the big smile?" which in turn made him chuckle a little.

"Come with me to your room, I want to show you something." he said to me while he led me upstairs.

"Why would you want to show me?" I frowning, "I know where it is."

"I know, just come alright." He replied with a slight smile, "It's a surprise once you find out, now close your eyes."

I frowned at this strange behaviour of his, but did it anyway. I felt him grabbing my shoulder and led, which is even stranger.

When we entered my room, it was dark in here, when suddenly voices rang all at once, "Surprise!"

I finally opened my eyes as lights turned on, only to find Andrea and some of the kids I know, in my room. Behind them there was two sets of table, one with a chocolate cake with blue butter cream frosting and some cupcakes while on the other table there were some presents laid on.

Andrea and James yelled, "Happy Birthday Lola"

I was shocked at first and then I began laughing as tears of joy well up in my eyes but I can't believe I actually forgotten my thirteenth birthday. I looked at James, and Andrea as I cry until I run to give them both a hug from me like the moment mattered.

"Thank You Everyone."

Andrea gestured me to come forward to make a wish and blow out the candles. I made a wish of having some good companions and then I blew out the candles. Once I blew out the candles everyone wanted me to cut the cake and so I cut the cake into slices, first one for for and the ready can be devoured by whoever wants to eat it. All made by Andrea.

After few minutes of eating cake, it was time for me to open up the presents. The first gift was wrapped by Andrea which I opened and found out to be a paint set which in return I went up to her for another quick hug.

I said, "Thank You Andrea, I love it."

She laughed lightly, "Your welcome dear, and I know you love to paint so I bought you your very own paint set." and gave her a nod. Everyone else gave me their gifts but James wanted to give mine last, saying it would change my life.

James said,"Your gift is in the car, Do you want to see it?"

"In the car!" I repeated which.

"Follow me, it's a surprise." He replied, he took me down to his red car, he opened the door and pulled out a large object which was cover in a white sheet then he motioned me to follow him inside up to my room, and placed the object on the table, and everyone was curious of what was inside.

"Come on Lola, check see what I got you?"James asked.

So I slowly pulled off the white cover of the sheet, I nearly got a heart attack, and little shocked at seeing a cage. In the cage was a young bird, it had green feathers and red head. It turned its head to look at me and excitedly squawked at me. It was an Australian male parrot which left me stunned at first. It's definitely not Joey, it's a different one.

I turned to James for a brotherly hug, and he hugged me back.

"Thank you James." I smiled at him.

"You're welcome Birthday Girl." We both laughed at that.
