Here Comes the Bride?

I woke up feeling more jittery than I'd felt in a very long time. It was today. Silently, I pulled on my bathrobe and paced down the hall to where Sophia was surely sitting because it was today. Sure enough, as I opened the door slowly but surely, Sophia sat there, staring out the window as through she were stuck in a daydream.

"Morning," I smiled, pouring myself a cup of coffee. Sophia turned to face me, and I could tell something was wrong.

"Morning, Mom," She said glumly. I tried to mask my surprise, and calmly took a seat next to her.

"What's wrong, Sophia?" I asked, looking straight at her. "It's your wedding day! No one's died-"

"Except maybe Dad!" She protested, her eyes longing for the acceptance only Percy could give. "Mom, he really doesn't want me to do this. And- and- and I thought I was level-headed enough to make my own decisions, you know? And I thought I could do what I thought was right, but Mom, I don't know what in Hades name I'm doing. Gods, I feel like there's this huge chunk of me missing, and if I don't fill that void soon, it's going to drive me mad."

I listened to her intently, nodding at all the right times, because I knew exactly what it was like for someone who'd always been sure of everything she'd ever done to finally end up questioning herself. I knew a girl exactly like that, actually- myself.

"Sophia, do you honestly and whole-heartedly love Logan?"

"Gods, yes. Don't get me wrong, I've never felt that way about anyone-"

"Then don't you think it's right?" I slammed my coffee cup down, accidentally staining the perfectly white hotel robe (hopefully they'll cover it?) and my new slippers. "This is the right choice, you know it is. Your dad... it's not that he doesn't like Logan, in fact he'd quite fond of him. It's just..."

"Yeah?"

I looked at Sophia, and remembered all the times I'd seen the same look in Percy's eyes. The way he looked at her, and the way she looked at him, was different than with anyone else. There was a feeling of mutual respect, and love there.

"You're his baby girl, sweetie. He isn't sure if he's ready for her to go be her own self yet." Tears had welled up in Sophia's eyes, and I watched as she blinked them back. "He loves you so much, honey, and I guarantee you, when he walks you down the aisle in a few hours, he'll be ready. He'll be proud, too."

"Promise?" She asked, staring at me.

"Promise. Now, let me get ready really quick so we can get to work on you!" I quickly slipped on the navy blue gown I'd picked out a few weeks ago. I curled my hair, nearly burning myself every time I let a curl go (that's about how often I curl my hair!) and splashed on a touch of make-up, and then voila, I was ready. When I re-entered the room, Sophia was surrounded by a mob of twenty-something girls, most of them somehow related to us, all fixating on some part of her amazing dress.

"Annabeth! You're here!" It was Thalia, who was frantically waving her arms at me from across the sea of people. "These girls are going to crush me!"

I laughed, edging my way across the room to stand with her. Paige, and little Hadley, who was already eight, were congratulating Sophia, and the thought hit me like a snowball; I was going to be a grandma soon.

For some reason, that didn't really sink in. I mean, naturally, Sophia wanted kids, and I knew she and Logan had discussed it, but me? A grandma? I felt FAR too young to be one of those, but honestly, I knew I'd be honored.

A few minutes later, The swarm of girls left to take their positions, or seats if they lacked a position, and I was once again alone with Sophia.

"Good luck, sweetie," I smiled, pulling her to me. "I love you," A knock on the door ruined our moment, but Kathryn Sorenson, Sophia's maid of honor, was a stickler about on-time weddings.

"We've gotta go, Sophia!" She smiled, tossing her hair back. I handed Sophia her bouquet, and rushed down the hall. I opened the doors, and looked out at the fields that surrounded the deck of the Big House. My own memories came flooding back, from my wedding that seemed like yesterday and eons ago at the same time. I walked to the beach, where the ceremony was going to be, and took my seat next to Sally and Paul, who were next to my parents.

"How is she?" My dad asked, smiling.

"Great." I laughed, biting my lip. "I just can't believe it's today." Behind me, Rion, Lena, Luke, and Taylor were sitting with their respective dates and/or lack thereof. I watched as Lena completely cut off Nathan the second the song began to play.

The moment I saw Percy walking Sophia, my baby girl, down the aisle, I knew everything was perfect. Tears welled up in my eyes as they reached the altar, each step like steps closer to Sophia's eternal bliss. As Percy gave her away, I saw him mouth something like , 'Congratulations, Sophia... I know I've been harsh, but- but I can see now that this is the right thing.' He hugged her tightly, and the ceremony went on. Percy sniffled as he sat next to me, and I could tell he too was getting emotional.

"Are you crying?" I asked, squeezing his hand.

"What?" He said, suddenly flustered. "Gods, no! Of course not! Hades, no-"

"Geez, Dad, take a chill pill," Luke muttered. The ceremony was drawing to a close, and I waited in agonizing anticipation along with everyone else for the moment everyone always waited for.

"You may now kiss the bride!" Cried the minister, and clapping erupted louder than any crowd I'd ever heard. The look on Sophia's face was the happiest I'd ever seen it, and Logan looked as if he could've floated to the moon. They walked back down the aisle, and I smiled, knowing that the first major decision of her life was one worth every second of the rest of it.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hey guys! Long time no see.... Listen, I am so sorry I haven't updated in something crazy like 18 days! I was lucky enough to be involved in the musical Beauty and the Beast (I was neither haha) but that took up every second of my free time, and then we left for vacation in Mexico! We are still in Mexico, and it's gorgeous! Much better than the 45 degree rain we're getting back home.

I'm so glad I finally got this chapter in, because it's been the most exciting to write, and the most emotional for me thus far. SOPHIA'S MARRIED TO LOGAN AND IT'S LIKE A FAIRYTALE GUYS!!! No, I'm overly excited about her wedding though....

I can't decide if I want to do a "Part II" to this chapter... leave your thoughts in the comments section! I'd greatly appreciate your opinion!

I'm super duper proud of myself, though, guys... So, lately, I haven't been reading a ton (read above excuses) but in the past 24 hours I've read more than 900 pages, which isn't that much for me (I used to read a ton more, but now my time is spent doing stupid stuff like homework...), but a ton compared to the mere 2 pages I manage to read on the bus (I try so hard, but I get so distracted!). I'm about halfway through Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and it's amazing as ever :)

I hope you all had or are having a great spring break! I also want to congratulate @claryandjaceforever on 59k reads!! You're an amazing author, a great friend, and a potentially successful Harry Potter marathoner! Although I've only known you for two years (which is insane) you're one of my best friends, and I hope you get the best in years to come!! Can't wait to see you on Monday :)

PS: if you haven't read her story, but you read TMI, GO READ IT. It's so so so good!!!

 QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER:

Should I do a Part II to this chapter?

XOXOXO
