Seventh Summer

I couldn't believe it. Sophia was already seven. Percy and I had decided to start our kids at Camp at the age of seven. That's when I started.

Sophia sat in her room as we packed her for Camp. I wondered who would claim her. I wondered how long she'd be in Hermes' cabin. I wondered so many things that as a kid, I wouldn't have.

"Okay, so we have your sleeping bag, your jeans and shorts, your flashlight, your allergy medicine, your rain jacket, you North Face jacket, your t-shirts, your toothbrush and toothpaste, your sneakers, your boots, your hairbrush, your flip flops, your sunscreen, my invisibility hat, your bug spray... I think that's all you'll need!" Sophia couldn't stop smiling.

"What if I miss you guys, Mommy?" I had to think about it. I'd never missed my parents, ever.

"Well, if you go on quests, you can find a phone to call us. If not, write to us! And take lots of pictures!" Sophia smiled.  She was getting to be such a big girl.

Percy had already put her trunk in the trunk by the time I got into the car. Sophia's blonde hair was pulled back into a pony tail. I started to cry; she was my little girl, and now I was sending her out into the world to poosibly get killed.

"Are- are you sure you're ready for this, Soph?" I asked, holding her hand. She smiled from the back seat.

"Yeah!" Selena who was four, sat next to her in the third row of our car. RIon, and the little ones, who were two, sat in the second row. Percy was driving, and I was riding shotgun. Our car was a full car.

We began to drive our five our drive to Long Island. Taylor and Luke watched Bubble Guppies on the seat back TV, while Rion played on my iPhone and Sophia and Selena watched Barbie on the iPad. Every few minutes or so I would look back at Sophia. Her face shined, and her laugh was so lively. I was going to miss her so much.

"We're finally here!" Sophia screamed. We pulled up to Half Blood Hill, and emotion washed over me. Everything in my life had been centered around this place for years. A tear rolled down my cheek as I stepped out of the car. Percy handed Sophia her backpack, then whispered in my ear,

"It still feels like home." I let myself cry for a moment, but then let it slip away. It had been a special time, but now it was Sophia's turn to shine. Sophia helped Percy get her trunk up Half Blood Hill, and I brought the kids up. Rion and Selena ran all the way, laughing and screaming and racing. Luke had started to run, but Taylor was still walking. She had a slower pace then the rest of the kids. I held her hand as we walked up my all time favorite hill.

Looking down over Camp brought more tears to my eyes, but I held them back. I picked Taylor up and said,

"This is a very special place. You'll like it here. I promise." Taylor babbled about that for the rest of the walk to the Big House.

"Percy! Annabeth!" Chiron galloped over to us and gave us both hugs.

"And where are the rest of the heroes?" My kids lined up next to us in age order. It was adorable.

"What are all of your names? I know Sophia," Sophia giggled, "and these must be Rion and Selena," Chiron looked sad as he said the name, "but who are these two little ones?" I gulped down my fear.

"Taylor and Luke-"

"Luke? That's an ambitious choice. How did you get Percy to agree to it?"

"I actually suggested it. You make me out to be so unmerciful!" We all laughed. We brought Sophia's things to the Hermes' cabin. It might be a while until she got claimed; she wasn't near 13 at all.

The Hermes cabin had never looked so empty. There were only twelve kids in the room. There were seven bunks pushed up against the walls. The first was occupied by two boys, probably ten or eleven. The second had a girl on the top bunk who was probably sixteen or seventeen. The third one had a girl and a boy, who looked like twins. They were probably only nine. The fourth bunk housed a girl who looked around Sophia's age, maybe a little older. In the fifth bunk, two girls sat on the bottom bunk playing cards. The sixth bunk was occupied by two boys who looked about 8 and 13. The last bunk had two girls, around 13 as well.

Chiron stomped his hoof.

"Please, may I have your attention. This is Sophia Jackson. She is unclaimed. Please welcome her. She will be staying here until she is claimed." The oldest girl got out of her bunk and came to greet us.

"Are you Percy and Annabeth? I am such huge fans! Oh my gods, this is amazing! Hi sweetie! I'm Hilary Night, daughter of Hermes. I am the senior camper in this cabin. Let me introduce you to everyone!" Hilary was a tall girl. She seemed really sweet, and I was glad Sophia would be in her hands.

"These two guys are Tyler and Adam. Ty is ten, and Adam is eleven. The twins of the cabin are Nadia and Curt; they're both twelve. This cutie is Malica. So, that's it for children of Hermes. Then there's the unclaimed kiddos. Maddie and Jocce are best friends. They're eleven and twelve. Knox and Will are brothers, eight and thirteen in two days. Knox is supposed to be claimed tonight, or tomorrow. Faith and Jackie are turning thirteen in a month, and... ten days, right Jackie?" Jackie nodded.

"Faith is in a month. I'm in ten days." I smiled at the girls, who whispered to each other excitedly.

"Sophia can sleep in the bunk under mine, if she wants. Or with Malica. You know, you and Malica are about the same age; I'm sure you'll be great friends. How about you sleep here?" Hilary patted the bottom bunk, and Malica smiled and nodded. Sophia nodded and unrolled her sleeping bag.

"Annabeth, Percy, Hilary has it all under control. I'm sure Sophia will keep you posted. Say your goodbyes!" Sophia ran to me and I sank to my knees.

"I love you, sweet heart. Write to us. We'll see you in three months, okay? We all love you." Sophia was a brave girl, and didn't cry. I was so proud. Percy whispered something that made her laugh. Her siblings hugged he and waved goodbye, and then we left her with Hilary, Malica, and the rest of the cabin.

That night, I felt so lonely in the house. It was so different without Sophia. I still set her a place setting at the table, still went to check on her before I went to bed. I was laying in my bed, reading a magazine when Percy walked in.

"Sure is different without Sophie," he sighed, as he changed into his PJs. I nodded.

"I miss her. I hope she's okay."

"Me too, but I'm sure she's having tons of fun at Camp. I know I did." Percy smiled and kissed me.

"But you were 12 when you started. I was seven. It's so different." Percy sighed.

"Annabeth, she's gonna be fine. I'm sure that she's doing great."

"I still miss her." I pouted.

Feel free to PM me; I will respond as soon as I get it, I promise!!! Also, you are the best people ever. I love you all so so so much.

Can you believe that Sophia went to Camp? Exciting!!!!!!

QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER: When I finish this, or maybe while I continue this, do you think I should make a story about Sophia?

I think that it would be fun, but I dunno. Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated!!! Please comment what you think! It will probably slow down Emily Webster, but that's already kinda slow. (Sorry to everyone who reads that; it's low on my priority list right now, but I might be updating soon :) ) Let me know what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
