"No!" I screamed, my voice hoarse. They could do anything to me, but not my baby girl.

"Mommy!" Taylor looked at me with those big green eyes, and I melted inside. I had to save her.

I had nothing to protect myself with. I had no idea what day it was, what time it was, or if this was even real. I hadn't seen light in what seemed like days.

"Mommy..." I tugged on the chains that held my hands back from rescuing Taylor from her own bonds.

"Let her go!" I screamed, but Gaea just laughed.

"I had been hoping for the boy... but the girl might be more fit," I stared at Gaea's smiling face, her smooth voice carrying throughout the cavern.

"Percy will kill you for this. He's comng for  your head," I threatened, but again, I made her laugh. I wasn't being funny at all.

"I'm sure he will, daughter of Athena. But I'm afraid it will be far too late." My anger swelled up inside of me. Taylor was in Gaea's arms.

My dream. I thought back to it- my child being taken from me at birth, growing up as an enemy, mind erased... I couldn't let that happen to Taylor.

But why hadn't she taken Taylor, or Luke for that matter, at birth? I wasn't complaining, but when she threatened, Gaea, usually followed through...

"Ah, a question I knew would arise in your mind. Why not at birth? Well, you see, Annabeth Jackson, Luke Castellan was unfaithful to myl son, Kronos. I wouldn't want to risk my plan to his form reborn, now would I?" I gulped. That had been a secret. Only me, Percy, Thalia, Luke, and the other kids knew...We'd even convinced Sally that the rumor was false. But of course, even a whisper mutter into another one's ear, Gaea heard.

Taylor's eyes danced. She looked up at Gaea. I knew she was hiding her fear, trying to be brave, but that would be her downfall. If she tried to protect me, it would mean she'd be gone... forever.

Gaea's eyes followed my gaze, talking about Taylor as if she wasn't even there.

"Quite a fine...sssspecimen, I must say, darling,"  I shuddered at the thought of Gaea calling me 'darling;' it was just... gross.

"Thank you," Taylor smiled a creepy-looking smile. She turned to look at me.

"Look, Mommy. It's Gaea." But her eyes were gold instead of green.

"What have you done?" I yelled. Anger fueled my once somber soul. I broke free of the iron chains.

"She's not your property, Gaea. She's my daughter, and you can't take her from me that easily!"

"Oh, no! What a tragedy! I hope you find your daughter. Maybe my servant, Deirdre, can help?" Gaea handed Taylor over, but she simply stood in front of me.

"Hello, I'm Deidre. I hope you find your daughter," Tears dripped from my eyes as Taylor skipped happily to Gaea's side.

"Grandma, where's my mommy?" Gaea shook her head, saying that her mother left her alone in the cold. And I continued to cry. As Gaea sent her away, she whispered,

"Suffering alone is one thing; watching a loved one suffer? Twice as worse for you, but three times more fun for me." And with that, she sent me out.

I ended up at the front door of my house. Percy's car was in the driveway. I knocked on the door softly, for it was the only power I had left. Then I collapsed.
