5:00 A.M.

Time to run.

I had just started my run. The cool September breeze whipped my face, and the leaves on the trees slowly fell to the ground. Not another soul was in sight. And I liked it that way. As I edged closer to town,  my pacing slowed. I passed a young girl. She looked like she was in high school. Her brown hair was pulled into a tight pony tail. I recognized the hoodie. I racked my brain, trying to remember. Hawaii? No. High school? No... College? No... Wait! No! Hawaii... airport... Then outloud, I said,

"Paige." Memories of those five minutes came flooding back. She hadn't called me at all. Was that some sign? Did she need me now? In a fluid motion I turned and sprinted towards her. I called her name, but she didn't stop, nor turn around, almost as if she hadn't heard.

Sweat trikled down my face. Man I am out of shape, I thought. Paige continued to run. I knew something was wrong. The mother in me came out. I sprinted towards her. She began to slow her pace. Then, with a final blow, she sat on the curb and cried.

Her crying startled me. It reminded me of someone. It sounded almost fake.

"Paige?" The girl wiped away her tears. They continued flowing down her face like waterfalls.

"What happened?" I asked. My heart urged me to sit down next to her, to tell her it would all be okay, but I felt guilty thinking that. Of course it wasn't okay. Living the life that she was living was never okay. Almost ever.

"I-can't-go-back." Paige managed through sobs. She sniffled. I finally sat down on the curb and put my arm around her. It was awkward. It didn't feel normal, but in the moment, it did feel right. I rubbed her back and told her to breathe deeply.

"Paige," I continued, "what's going on? Is everything okay?"

"No. Nothing is okay. My mother is completely crazy. She says that she has been seeing my father come into the house. My father died the year I was born." The whole situation reminded me of Luke's poor mother, Mrs. Castellan. It reminded me of Luke.

I swallowed hard, trying to take the taste of blood and death out that had been collected in my brain for years. Luke's dead body fifteen years ago. Fifteen years. Paige was fifteen. That was a coincidence, though....right?

"Paige, what was your father's name?" Her bottom lip quivered. She took a stone and wrote the words LU  E CAS      L   N.

"What does that mean?" I asked with a gulp.

"i dunno. I found a ripped up piece up paper with that name on it. It's his name, I'm positive."

"Paige, you learned about Luke Castellan at Camp, right?" She nodded.

"Yes, but.... OH MY FREAKIN' GODS! LUKE'S MY DAD?" She screamed. I looked around nervously.

"DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?" Paige stood abruptly. I stood as well. I had a good few inches on her. I shook my head sadly. But her rage wouldn't die down.

"SHE LIED TO ME?! THE GODS LIED TO ME?!" I began to wonder who her mother was. She was obviously half-blood.

"Paige-"

"NO!" She walked away.

"Paige-"

"JUST GO AWAY! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

"PAIGE! WHO IS YOUR MOM?!" The girl stopped in her tracks and spun on her heel, kicking up gravel.

"You wanna know who my mother is?" She walked towards we, fire in her eyes.

"My mother is an idiot. She is a daughter of Eros. I hate her. I've always hated her. I have no family. My boyfriend, who is now lost, was my only thing close to family. And you know what? He's probably DEAD!" Paige fell to the ground crying. I had never realized how much this poor girl had had on her shoulders. She was a lot like me.

"My mom never cared about me enough to even feed me by the time I was eight. She got addicted to drugs after my father- Luke- died, and her eyes turned gold, and she turned to Gaea and Kronos. I'vw only known a golden eyed mother."

"Where do you live?"

"Normally, I'd live at my boyfriend's house for the school year. But now... I have no where." I thought about it for a while. Could we even afford to support another human in our house?

"C'mon home with me. You can at least change into some new clothes, and have some food." She smiled gratefully.

"I can't stay there with you permanently, though." Had she read my mind?

"Why?"

"I can't make you pay for another human in your house."

"Well, let me talk to Percy. You might have to."

"You mean I get to meet Percy too? Ooh, some of friends would be je-lous!" I stifled a laugh at how fast Paige's emotions changed.

"And her father is Luke? Are you sure, Wise Girl?" Pecy asked as we did the dishes after dinner. Paige was asleep in the guest room, and all of the kids were asleep. And it was only 10:00! Percy got the popcorn out of the microwave and sat down on the ouch. I cuddled in next to him. We started to watch TV, but both of us were stuck on Paige.

"I want to meet her tomorrow morning," Percy stated as he kissed my head.

"She wants to meet you too," I whispered.

"Where does she live? Maybe I can drive her there on my way to work or-"

"That's the other thing I wanted to ask you."

"If I can drive her tomorrow?" Percy knit his eyebrows, his face confused. I giggled.

"No," my voice turning serious.

"Whoa, calm down." Percy laughed.

"She doesn't have anywhere to live."

"Why?"

"Her boyfriend is lost. She normally stays with him."

"he didn't give a key? I wouldn't date him!"

"I think it's his parents apartment. She's only fifteen," I laughed. Percy shrugged and shoved a fistful of popcorn into his mouth.

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" He asked. He almost looked scared. Just then, Thalia walked in.

"Hey..." She walked over to Percy.

"Is she going to do some crazy chairty thing?"

"She wants to have a girl who she barely knows live with us."

"For three seasons!"

"She a half-blood?" Thalia asked. So I told her about Paige Donovan.

"Luke is her dad?!?!?!?" I knew that it would shock her the most. She spit her water halfway across the kitchen.

"What do you think we should do?" Thalia looked at me, her eyes glazed over, as if in shock.

"Is she okay, you think?" Percy asked, waving a hand in front of her face. Then he laughed, and walked to clean up the water.

"Umm... I guess you should..."
