Charlotte's POV-

I grabbed Dumbledore's hand as he helped me down from the carriage, my foot stepped on a large rock, almost causing me to trip but Dumbledore's arm steadied me.

"McGonagall, by the time everyone gets seated, I will return, and we can get the sorting ceremony to start." Dumbledore informed her. McGonagall nodded, as we entered Hogwarts. The castle was even grander than I imagined. After reading and re-reading the books so many times you get an idea of how it would look but it was even more beautiful in person.

"I'm coming with you." Remus said, cutting me off of my trance.

"I would have never doubted it. I bet Mr. Black is also waiting in my office." Dumbledore chuckled to himself. We walked silently to his office, a thousand thoughts running through my head.

Why am I here?

Am I really related to the Potter's?

Was I actually just attacked by a Dementor?

Did he just say Mr. Black?

We stopped in front of a large gargoyle statue; he shouted the password at the statue before it started moving. The gargoyle started moving to the left, disappearing behind a staircase. We walked upstairs and he opened the door for me. There were three people standing by the fireplace, a beautiful woman with long ginger hair and green eyes stood next to two men. One had brown eyes, with messy curly black hair, and glasses, and the other had long black hair, and brown eyes. I knew exactly who they were, they looked exactly how they did in the book, it was obvious.

"What's going on here? That's Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and that's James and Lily Potter, but you all are-"

"Fictional characters?" Dumbledore asked, sitting behind his desk.

"Yes!" I shouted, staring between Dumbledore and the group of three. They were slowly walking closer and closer to me, but I stepped back, trying to wrap my head around this.

"But-but how did you know? You shouldn't."

"You told me."

"How?"

"October 31'st 1981, Voldemort wasn't the only one that attacked the Potter's that night. A lady had come that morning, attacked your parents, James and Lily Potter, forcing them into a closet. She took you that night, put you on the doorsteps of the police department. She came back for Harry Potter and waited for Voldemort to arrive. When he did, he killed that lady, and tried to kill Harry, but couldn't. The Potter's all lived, but you were taken away from them, and told that you would come back when you were ready."

"So, you're telling me that I am James and Lily's daughter? And that this whole thing is real?"

"Charlotte," I looked up at Lily, she stepped closer to me wanting to put her hand on my arm but thought twice about it, and let her arm fall to her side.

"I'm sorry, that's just a lot of information to take in," I whispered, staring at the ground.

"Remus, we have to go, we're already late for the feast." I heard Dumbledore's chair squeak, as he stood up.

"Sirius come along."

"But why do I-"

"Come along."

"I better be getting some food." Sirius muttered, as the door shut behind them. I finally pulled my eyes away from the floor, and really stared at my supposed parents. I could see the resemblances between us, the ginger hair I got from Lily, my brown eyes that are just like James. The freckles, the nose, I was clearly there daughter but it still felt surreal. I couldn't be dreaming, there was no way, I fell asleep on the train, and I still woke up here and not at the Brown's.

An awkward silence fell over us. I never thought I'd meet my family, I thought they were all long gone, I imagined there faces over a hundred times, but I never thought that they would be James and Lily Potter or that I would meet them at Hogwarts.

"We have waited for twelve long years for you to finally come back to us." Lily finally broke the silence, big fat tears slid down her face, as she cupped my face. She examined me before throwing her arms around me, pinning my arms to my sides, James wrapped his arms around us, squeezing me even tighter.

"Um, you're suffocating me."

---

We spent the next hour talking and trying to get to know each other and about the 13 years we've missed. The door opened, just as James was telling me about the Potter Manor and Dumbledore walked in.

"Going well?"

"Yes," Lily said, as she held my hand, she rubbed her thumb over my palm, like she couldn't believe that I was actually here.

"I have to ask, where am I supposed to sleep? And I don't have any clothes. All I have is this backpack."

"Home, our house. Dumbledore we're going to be taking her home. This is too much for one night on...all of us." James said, Dumbledore nodded.

"I completely agree, but she can go stay with you for two weeks, but she must come back. Charlotte, you are two years behind the others. You must come and... start your education."

"Lily, Charlotte, let's go." James said, he took a handful of floo powder from Dumbledore's desk and threw it in the fire. It glowed green before he grabbed another handful and stepped inside the fire.

"The Potter Manor!" The fire lit up rising as high as his shoulders, before he disappeared.

"Do you know how to use Floo powder?"

"Yes."

"You can go first." She said, softly. I grabbed a handful of floo powder, before hesitantly walking up to the fireplace. I kneeled down, letting my finger graze the fire. The fire was cool to the touch, it almost tickled my skin. I stood up and stepped inside the fireplace, letting that feeling wash over my whole body.

"The Potter Manor!" I shouted shutting my eyes and letting go of the floo powder. I felt the floor give out, and I started falling. I couldn't help the feeling that I was falling into my new life.
