Charlotte-

I had expected to spend the summer at 12 Grimmulad place with the rest of the order of the phoenix, and the Weasley, but no, instead we stayed at the Potter manor, with my family for a month now. My brother was growing restless with every day that passes with no news from the others. I, on the other hand, was getting plenty of letters from Draco, Lavender, and Parvati, which annoyed my brother.

"I mean, I know they're sending letters to each other. They have to be! Why am I getting no news from Ron or Hermione? Why have mum and dad banned us from reading the daily-"

"SHUT UP!" I shouted from my bed. Harry had come into my room around three in the afternoon during one of his daily rants about their parents, his friends, and Dumbledore. It's been almost two hours now, and my head was about to explode.

"No! I will not! I need answers." Harry said as he sat on my bed. I debated kicking him in the stomach.

"And you think by pacing in my room, shouting all your questions at me, you will have an answer? Guess what your answer is? I have a fucking headache." I huffed, folding the letter Draco had sent me and put it on the nightstand.

"You know what I need?" Harry laid on the bed, staring up at my ceiling.

"A new life? A hobby? Quidditch doesn't count." I muttered under my breath. Harry rolled his eyes.

"Quidditch is a hobby!"

"You defiantly won this argument. I'm so moved. Quidditch is not just a wired obsession for all the boys here, it's a hobby,"

"Do you want to go play a game? Let's play!"

"Will it stop you from asking me questions?" Harry nodded.

"Fine, let's go play." We both got out of bed and ran downstairs. Every time we played it became a tradition to run through the house and see who would win Harry's firebolt.

"Hey! Slow down! Where are you two going?" Dad shouted, as we raced through the kitchen.

"Quidditch!"

"Slow down or one of you... and there gone." I pushed the kitchen door opened, that set me back five seconds, it gave Harry time to run through the door. Harry pried open the closet door, and grabbed his firebolt.

"Ha! I made it before you!" Harry shoved the broom in the air, swinging it over his head victoriously, or dramatically.

"That's not fair! You have longer legs than I do! I think I should have had a five-second head start." Charlotte said, I grabbed the simple Nimbus 2001, nothing was better than firebolt.

"Next time,"

"You said that last time!"

"And I'll say it again next time,"

---

We had played for a couple of hours. My arm was sore by the time we finished and started putting everything back. I locked the quidditch shed behind me and pocketed the key.

"I totally won that last round," I said, Harry chuckled.

"Last round maybe. I won everything else."

"See it's because you have more practice than I do, being on the quidditch team and everything- " I stopped talking mid-sentence, as suddenly the air turned chilly, the lights on their back porch started flickering before going completely out, but I could feel all the happiness draining out of me, and that's when I knew what was coming.

"Oh no," I whispered, I looked at Harry his eyes were wide, his face hard. Harry grabbed my arm, and shoved me behind him, taking out his wand.

"Charlotte, stay close, do not let go of me," My brother said as he looked around. Suddenly, two large, cloaked figures surrounded them. I felt trapped, stuck. The two death eaters loomed over us. I could hear someone screaming in my ear, words that I heard in my time from the foster system screamed at me.

How did they get into our backyard?

"Expecto Patronum!" Harry said, but only small puffs of silver smoke come out of his wand. Then it happened faster than I could see but suddenly the dementor's hand was around my neck, his bony fingers dug into my skin. I screamed, as my feet lifted from the ground, and the dementor slammed me against the house. The bones in my back ached, I clawed at the bones, but it didn't even put a dent in his hand.

I could hear Harry shouting even louder, but all I could focus on was the dementor opening its mouth. It's horrifying toothless, dead skin around the mouth. I felt myself starting to get drained, my grip loosened on its hand. My eyes were heavy.

"Charlotte, are you okay? You need to breathe." My father was shaking me awake, I didn't know when the dementor had left, but I was on my back looking up at my father.

"What happened Harry?"

"I don't know! We just put our quidditch supplies away, and were heading back to the house, when the dementors attacked us!" Dad helped me sit up, I felt lightheaded, and wanted to crawl into bed. Dad helped me inside the house, setting me on the couch.

"Why didn't the protective Charms work?" Dad thought out loud, grabbing a blanket and draping it over me.

"Lily will be home soon, Charlotte. She will make you feel better." Dad told me, I nodded but I couldn't shake this feeling, of being cold and alone, just like I did when I was a child, even though my dad and brother were standing and fussing over me.

---

I woke up to the feeling of a hand creasing my face. I opened my eyes, seeing my mother sitting next to me, with Harry and dad on the couch in front of me.

"How are you feeling?" Mum asked.

"I'm fine, now," I muttered, sitting up. There was a small 'hoot,' and an owl flew through the window, throwing a letter on Harry's lap, and then turning around and flying out the window. Harry raised one eyebrow, and torn into the letter.

"No! No! I've been expelled from Hogwarts!" Harry jumped to his feet, pulling at the ends of his hair.

"What?" Dad snatched the letter from Harry's hand.

"We'll owl Dumbledore."

"Owl McGonagall," Dad suggested, as another owl flew into the house and dropped a letter into Harry's other hand.

"It's from Mr. Weasley! He said Dumbledore arrived at the Ministry and he's trying to sort it all out, he said not to leave the house!" Harry explained, but his voice still shook.

"Don't worry Harry, Dumbledore will fix it,"

"I can't be expelled from Hogwarts! I can't! Where will I go?" Harry asked.

"You'll still go to Hogwarts! Dumbledore will fix everything. Let's just wait for a letter to come and see what happens." Dad said, as he fixed his glasses, that he didn't notice were lopsided. We waited another hour until finally an owl shored through the open window.

"There!" Mum yelled. The owl dropped the letter on the table, and four pairs of hands reached for it before Dad managed to snag it.

"You get a trial," He said, after ripping it open. Mum, Dad, and Harry sagged in relief.

"Pack your bags. We're going to stay with Sirius." Dad said, folding the letter and pocking it.

"What?"

"We don't know how our charms were broken. It's not safe here until I figure out what's going on,"

"Okay, let's go to 12 Grimmulad place."
