I stared at the fire as it glowed green, my parents through my trunks into the fire, watching as they disappeared right into McGonagall's office.
"That's the last one." James said, I messed with my sleeve, I didn't want to leave just yet, I had just met them, but at the same time I really wanted to start Hogwarts. Lily came up to me, fixing my collar, her eyes were shinning with unshed tears.
"Don't worry, you'll love Hogwarts. It was the best years of our lives. And make a lot of friends and write to us every day."
"I will." Charlotte said, they hugged me so tight I felt like I could actually hear my bones crushing. I grabbed a handful of floo powder and stepped into the fire.
"Hogwarts!" I shouted, dropping the powder. I felt the floor give out, I could see into several houses, before I landed in Professor McGonagall's office. I coughed soot out of my mouth, as I stepped out of the fireplace.
"Ms. Potter, there you are. Dinner is starting." Professor McGonagall said, she stood up from behind her desk. She tsked seeing the soot covering my clothes, she started patting off the soot from my arms and shoulders.
"Sorry." I said, trying to fix my clothes. I wiped the soot off my face, making sure I looked presentable.
"Never mind that. Let's just go. Dumbledore will call you, and then the hat will sort you." Professor McGonagall said, leading me out of her office. I looked around staring at the castle, I still couldn't believe I was here.
We walked to the great hall; Professor McGonagall instructed me to stay behind the doors until Dumbledore announces my entrance. I nodded, before Professor McGonagall walked inside the great hall.
"Attention students! We have a new student that will be joining us. I present, Charlotte Potter." I heard Dumbledore say through the large doors, I stepped back as the doors opened, the great hall had four large tables filled with students while the professor's sitting on two large tables facing the students. I felt my feet start moving on there on accord, I looked around the hall, feeling every eye on me.
I finally reached the stool, Professor McGonagall put the sorting hat on my head. It sat nicely on my head, unlike the first-year students where it would slide over there eyes.
"Hmm, another Potter? And your 13 no doubt you're a little older. Now where to place you, I can tell you're a strong person having to deal with so much during your childhood. Let's see, you could do good in Ravenclaw...no no, I know exactly where to place you."
"Gryffindor!" The Gryffindors started cheering as McGonagall took the hat off my head. I smiled, I felt heat rising to my cheeks, as I walked to the Gryffindor table.
"Hello!" Harry shouted as he stood up, I jumped back at how loud he talked. Heat rose to his face, before he forced out a laugh.
"Sorry, I scared you. I-um, see I told mum to let me meet you first, but she wouldn't and-hello." Harry rambled on, making me giggle.
"It's alright," I said, as we sat down. I sat across who I could guess was Hermione Granger, next to her was Ron Weasley.
"Now that Ms. Potter has been sorted, we can enjoy our dinner." Dumbledore announced, he clapped his hands together, all different kinds of food appeared at the Gryffindor table. I grabbed a large piece of chicken, and a spoonful of mash potatoes.
"So, Charlotte. Where did you go for twelve years?" Hermione asked, she could really cut into the deep stuff before even asking me how I was.
"Nowhere important, just away." I said, vaguely, taking a sip of my juice, staring at her from the rim of my cup.
"Look another ginger. Are you sure people won't think you're a Weasley instead of Potter?" One of the Weasley twins said before Hermione could reply. I was thankful for the interruption, as I put my drink down and shrugged.
"Not my fault there's so many of you."
"We're Fred and George Weasley. We'll tell everyone you're our sister instead, much more believable." One of them winked, Harry glared at them, shaking his head.
"Oh, don't you dare! You two have enough siblings as it is!"
"Oh, don't get your pants in a twist. She can still be your sister."
"Leave my pants out of this, George! I was five, and you cursed them." Harry snapped, George smirked, an evil twinkle in his eye like he was thinking of a fond memory.
"What happened when he was five?" I couldn't help but ask.
"He set them on fire." Harry muttered.
"First of all, it was an accident, and second of all, you broke my bear! That had a special place in my heart, Harry." George said, pretending to wipe a tear.
"Harry, how could you break a bear?"
"We meet for five seconds and you're already not taking my side?" Harry asked, pretending to be offended.
"No, no, of course, I am!"
"Good."
I laughed as I looked around the great hall, my eyes landed on a boy with bright blond hair, I knew who he was instantly, I already met him a couple weeks ago on platform 9 3/4. Draco Malfoy sat at the Slytherin table, he glared at me, running his tongue across his teeth. He turned to the boy next to him and whispered something to him. The boy looked up at me and chuckled at Malfoy. I had a feeling that boy was going to be giving me a very interesting year.

"Come on, Lottie. I'll show you to our dorm." Hermione said after Dumbledore dismissed us from dinner.
"Okay."
"Did you get your schedule?"
"Not yet. I think McGonagall will give it to me tomorrow morning." I answered, stifling a yawn.
"Can you show me the way back tomorrow? I don't think I'll remember."
"Of course! I'll be happy too!"
We reached the common room, the fat lady asked for the password and I barley heard her answer, with the exhaustion starting to hit me. We crawled through the portrait hole, the common room was large, there were two staircases going into the wall across from each other, I knew that was the boys and girl's dormitories already. There were tables around the common room, and several red couches, along with a red fireplace and large windows against the wall.
"Are you alright? You sort of look dazed." Hermione asked me, putting a hand on my arm.
"Just happy." I muttered happily.
"Well, let's go be happy upstairs. I'm exhausted too, and Lavender will hog the bathroom if we don't hurry up." Hermione joked, pulling me up the girls dormitory.
"Okay, let's go."
"Goodnight, boys!" Hermione called over her shoulder.
"Goodnight!" They yelled back.
Hermione was right, Lavender was hogging the bathroom when we entered our dorm rooms. Pravati Patel was already sleeping in her bed, but I barley paid any attention to them though, I opened my suitcase, and took my pajama's. I changed throwing my clothes on the suitcase, I'd put them in the dresser later, I just needed to lie down and go to sleep already. I fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow.
