Andrew's POV – 2 August 2019 (Friday)
Goodness, why didn't I befriend Christian earlier? He's super cool, very funny and so supportive. I mean, for the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm friends with someone that's not after my money. Christian doesn't care about the money or any of my possessions, he only cares about me. I trust him, and I'd like to believe that he trusts me as well. We tell each other our personal stories, leaving some out obviously, like the fact that I was hiding the massive crush I have for him! What? Yes, I've finally come to terms that I have a crush on the dark-haired boy! And I know, I can't just blurt these news out, more especially knowing that he likes someone else.
As hurt as I was (still am), I'm working on getting over these feelings because I'd rather have him in my life as a friend than not at all. However, the problem is that the more time I spend with him, the more I fall.
"Andrew!" my mother calls, already barging into my room. "You're still in bed? Your father is not going to be happy to hear that."
"Mom, school will only start after...an hour and thirty minutes."
"Well, that doesn't mean you should be in bed at this time" she reprimands.
"I really don't know what the fuss is about" I say with an eye roll.
"Are you talking to me like that Andrew? I don't know what the problem is with you these days, you have no respect whatsoever for me or your father!" she yells.
"Why does everything have to be about him?!" I fire back. "He's my father for crying out loud, you shouldn't be using his name to threaten me! You guys are supposed to be my protectors, not my abusers..."
"When have we ever abused you Andrew?" she asks with wide eyes and her hands on her hips.
"Oh so we're gonna play that game now mom? The 'Oh I don't know what you're talking about game'? You know your husband always takes it upon himself to use me as a punching bag..."
"He only does that when there's a reason to!" my mother argues.
"Oh! So you're defending him? Huh mom?" I question, standing up.
"I just don't understand what you mean when you say your father and I abuse you..."
"What about the neglect mother? The fact that you've been leaving me here, all alone when you go to your business trips. The fact that the only person I ever had to truly support me was Grandpa Pat and when I grew up, I started to see him less and less, because your husband thought he was a bad influence on me! See, if I didn't know any better, I would swear that you guys brought me to this Earth to torment me!"
"No Andrew, you don't mean that..." my mother says, eyes filling with tears.
"I mean every word mom. In fact, I don't know why I still call you that because you clearly haven't done much to deserve that title" I express seriously.
"You're one disrespectful child aren't you!" my mother points her finger at me. "When I've done so much for you, this is what you have to say about me? Your father and I put a roof over your head and food in your stomach, we clothe you, give you a bed to sleep in every night and this is how you pay us?! We got you a car, we give all this luxury, you live in this massive house..."
"And that's all it is, a house! Not a home, and it never will be. Stop, for just a second, stop trying to defend yourself! Take responsibility. Be a mother! I'm sick and tired of bottling all these th..."
"What's this commotion all about?" Anyone but him. "I could hear you all the way from downstairs, what's all this arguing?" my father asks, looking and me, then redirecting his gaze to my mother. "Andrew, why is your mother crying?"
