Andrew's POV – 29 September 2019
Shock does not even begin to explain what I feel right now. Why would one want to hurt Christian? Why? This dark haired boy kept to himself and bothered no one, so it makes no sense why one would want to harm him so much.
"Andrew!" the said boy calls out, grabbing my attention.
"Yeah, what's up?" I enquire.
"I lost you there for a moment," he states "I just wanted to let you know that I'm going back to bed, I really need some space."
On any other day, I'd be thrown off by the fact that he wants some time alone since he literally can't keep himself away from me; but considering the current situation, I totally understand.
"No, it's fine...go ahead" I nod in understanding, as he walks towards his bedroom, painfully slow, and shutting the door after walking inside, leaving me with nothing but my thoughts.
I walk to the lounge and plop down on the chair, letting my thoughts consume me whole. So someone wanted to kill Christian, my boyfriend! The thought has anger bubbling up in me in a way I had never felt before. I mean, I had spent so much time, beating myself up because I thought I was the cause behind Christian's accident. Now, I find out that someone wanted to hurt him, it's just messed up...
My phone starts ringing in the kitchen, taking me out of my stupor. I walk to the kitchen and disconnect the device from the charger, seeing that the name Johnny was displayed on the screen.
I swipe to the right, and place the phone to my ear, "Hello" I greet, heading back to the lounge.
"Hi Andrew," he greets back "why didn't you check up on me all along?" he sasses.
Trust Johnny to make you smile on a very bad day, "A lot has happened man" I reply, settling on the sofa.
"Well I have all the time in the world," he says seriously, making me laugh.
"Where do I even start?" I ask no one in particular, and decide to start from the very beginning. "My father kicked me out of his house when he found out that I was doing..." I pause, considering the most suitable word "...stuff with another dude."
"Stuff?" he questions.
"Kissing and all that shit" I elaborate, making him chuckle. "As I was saying, he kicked me out after he found out about my whole situation with this guy, and that was inconveniently after I found out about the death of my grandpa, who's been the world to me..." I pause and recollect myself when I feel tears swell up in my eyes, "...so, pain just stacked up on me. Then, for some stupid reason, I saw fit to end things with this guy because I felt like he was to blame for everything bad that was going on in my life, only to find out a few days later that he was involved in a car accident right after I broke up with him..."
"I'm selling your story to Hollywood producers" Johnny interjects, making a smile break out on my face. "So much drama, man."
"I know it's surreal but it's true" I chuckle, trying to ease the emotions that were surely going to spill out of me, if I didn't get ahold of myself.
"Damn Andrew, I cannot even begin to express how sorry I am that you had to go through all that, and I didn't check on you, not even once" he expresses genuinely. "First and foremost, don't kill me for this, but your father is a jerk" he says seriously making me laugh. "Secondly, you're stupid. What did the poor boy do to you that made you break up with him?"
"I told you man, I just thought he was to blame for everything bad that was happening in my life" I sigh.
Johnny stays silent for a while before, "I'm shaking my head right now" he explains. "I'd rip your head off your shoulders, but I'll spare you your life because you've been through so much already. I'm really sorry about your losses" he says gently. Wait, did he say losses?
"Losses?" I voice my thoughts.
"Didn't you say your grandpa died, and your boyfriend was in an accident?"
"Oh no, Christian didn't die..."
"Hold up!" he yells. "Did you say Christian?"
My cheeks warm up at his words, "Yeah."
"Oh my goodness" he yells into the speaker, before I hear what sounds like jumping. "I knew it! I freaking called it!"
"Haha, yeah" I say awkwardly.
"So you mean to tell me that in just a couple of weeks since I left, you and Christian got together, did the nasty..."
"What?! We haven't done the nasty!" I interrupt.
"Haven't?! So y'all are back together?" he asks, his voice going higher than before. "And before you answer that, I hope that this is the last time you interrupt me!"
"I'm sorry for interrupting you, but yeah, we're back together" I say, my lips quirking into a smile.
"That's amazing but gosh, I just can't believe that Christian was in a car accident. I just can't imagine him in all that."
"Now imagine finding out that the accident wasn't really an accident" I say with a sigh.
"What do you mean now?" Johnny asks.
"Some officers stopped by some time ago, and they told us that the brakes of Christian's car were tampered with..."
"WHAT?!"
"What?"
Two very different voices ask the same thing at the same damn time.
"Johnny, am I on loudspeaker?" I ask, feeling slightly annoyed. Why would he do that?
"No you're not" he explains almost immediately. Then why is it that I head two voices? Is it all in my head, because I am certain I heard two voices, then reality hits me. I clearly heard Johnny's screech over the speaker, but the second voice sounded like it was a lot closer, almost like it came from behind me; and at that, I turn around, and here she stands.
"Hey Johnny, I-I'll call you later okay? There's something I have to deal with here..."
"Urgh man!" Johnny groans. "You better keep your promise!"
"Yes, I'll call you" I say quickly, and hang up, placing the cell beside me. "Hi Bee, how are you?"
"What did you mean when you said someone tempered with his brakes?" Isabella question with teary eyes. Oh my goodness, what have I put myself into? Where do I begin to explain this to a 12 year old?
"Be-Bella, you k-know..." I stutter, and sigh when my words fail me.
"So it's true?" she asks. "Someone wanted to kill my brother..." she breaks down, and I just freeze in my position, unable to move. God, how do I get myself out of this? And as if on cue, the house phone starts ringing, and Isabella heads to answer it, and I sigh in relief.
Some people are saved by the bell, well in my instance, I was clearly saved by the phone.
